It's like you know CJ's is here but you forget til you remember. Haha! The restaurant was large enough to accommodate our party of 5.5 when we showed up at 130 for lunch and although it was busy, were immediately seated. Amazing service with a smile. My daughter ordered a pizza with olives then decided she didn't want olives when she saw what it was. I asked if they could make another pizza w/o olives with my deepest apology. They obliged and even gave her a fruit bowl while she waited for her pizza to be made. Talk about amazing service! It's been more than a decade since I've eaten at a CJ'S and the food still tasted the same. I ordered the jambalaya and considering I recently had a disappointing jambalaya meal at the cheesecake factory, I was impressed. Definitely tastier and the portions were generous. The rest of my party ordered the Cobb salad, the rotisserie chicken and a ceasar salad with clam chowder. Everyone finished their plates without complaint, so the food was tasty! Garlic cheese bread while you wait and everyone was happy. Thanks CJ's!

Came here for happy hour with a friend Saturday afternoon. We had to sit at the bar/saloon section only for the happy hour menu. FOOD - we ordered the Mini Cezar Salad, Mini Cheese Pizza, Irish Nachos, Spinach Artichoke Dip, and Asian Spicy BBQ wings. The irish nachos and spinach arichoke dip went well for me. everything else was mediocre. Portions are big and so we didn't even finish all of our food. DRINKS - I had the Pomegranate Sangria and my friend ordered Long Island Iced Tea. Both drinks were kind of watered down. I had about 4 glasses of sangria and let me tell you it was pretty light. SERVICE - great service, waitress checked up on us often. This is a great location for dining and walking around the mall a bit, so if you're in the mood, have a few cocktails and go on a shopping spree! Just kidding. Not really.

Who gets salad wrong? Really. Table bread tastes as bad as it looked Salad was a garden salad with ranch dressing and that tasted off - even the croutons were terrible. Spinach and artichoke dip tasted terrible Came with a group of 5 and one 1 person liked their meal. One ordered steak done well but received rare. Sent that back and didn't get the steak back for 20+ minutes Sorry guys bad first impression. I won't be returning.

+ huge portions; prices are more than reasonable; waitress was professional - parking is a disaster at S. Coast Plaza which is where this restaurant is located; food taste is mediocre (sliders were dry); dirty floors

The atmosphere of this place is great! Much better than then one closer to my home. That one is a little ghetto, but this one is great! Drinks are well made and the food is actually not that bad! the only problem I faced was that I wasn't really feeling the burger that I ordered, but the manager (Keith) was super cool and made every effort to make sure I was satisfied. Prices are actually pretty reasonable. I will definitely be coming back here again!!

Been here twice lately, service was a tad slow both times, but the food made up for it. I got the bbq baby back ribs on both visits and they are delicious!! I will come back for the ribs again and again.

Average food, average service. Sirloin steak- 2/5 poorly cooked (asked for medium rare but mine was pretty rare), dry, lacked flavor Mashed potatoes- 2/5 Calamari- 3/5 these were ok but they gave us cocktail sauce for the dip... I feel like calamari tastes better with marinara Chicken wings- 4/5 highlight of my meal! Skin was crispy, meat was really juicy and wings were big :) Grilled mahi- 3.5/5 good seasoning but the fish was slightly overlooked and dry Clam chowder- 3.5/5 tasted good but was lukewarm Garlic bread- 4/5 the appetizer bread was yummy and they keep refilling it for you Our initial waitress was very attentive and polite! She was super helpful and made sure our table was always clean and we were happy with our meal. The food runner couldn't even tell the difference between the different entrees and steaks we ordered. I mean seriously.. You work here? How do you not know which is which? The other server was kind of rude and couldn't be bothered to bring our plates around to the other side of the table so he had us pass the plates all the way down which were really hot. My experience overall was okay at best- won't be coming back soon

Great atmosphere, food AND SERVICE. Thank you Gregorio. Wonderful attitude and wants to serve you hand on foot. Ask for him. The food was delicious and servings were just right. Don't know why people rated this place a 3 star. Must have come in pissed off. Hahah!!!!! TIP? Early Bird specials good till 530pm.

Claim jumpers has changed a lot since the last time I had it. All I remember from last time was that they had great cheese sticks!!! Haha... We love cheese sticks. So we were planning on having maggianos but the wait was over an hour(we were there for the cheese sticks as well)! And I was starving so there was no way I was waiting. Drove around the mall to CJ's and wasn't disappointed one bit! We had the absolut tortellini and the blackened chicken pasta. Both were delish!!!! Services was great, the waiter was very attentive!!!

Awesome customer service. The food was okay, not the best. Although it was pricey I still didn't mind. We would visit again.

The food was good and normal quality but the service was terrible. I came to claim jumper to get appetizers and dessert. The waiter seemed rushed and unattentive. When I arrived, I was told that they only had tables as all of the booths were full. I was hungry and agreed to a table. Little did I know that there were actually 3 empty booths in the restaurant, but they didn't want to clean them. After I was seated they cleaned all of the tables and placed other couples in them (I was upset). I am a landry's select club member so I gave them my card and the manager made a point to stop by and thank me for my continued business. For those that don't know, the landry's club requires you to pay $25 to sign up, but you get $25 off your next meal just for signing up. Then you receive a point for each $1 spent not on alcohol any time you dine at a landry's select restaurant (you do need to make sure that the restaurant participate's in the club because Mastro's Steakhouse does not, but is owned by landry's). I ordered the appetizer sampler which includes: spinach artichoke dip, eggrolls, lemon pepper deep fried zucchini, and mozzarella sticks. Then I ordered the chocolate chip calzone. Let me tell you about this calzone, it's one of my favorite desserts, but not all claim jumpers sell it.

Ate here for dinner. Service was quick and efficient but not rushed. Meal was great. Salad was cold and crisp... steak was cooked to perfection. I would recommend this place for anyone seeking a good restaurant with a lot of variety on their menu.

After experiencing a terrible dinner at this location we were reached out by Anna regarding the last experience we had. The four of us were offered great customer service from her and for the next visit. We went the other night my boyfriend and cousins- and we had an amazing manager Keith take care of us that night. He was so nice and attentive. I ordered a steak and when it was beyond raw he took it back for me and every one got orders fast and tasty :) thank you Anna and Keith we look forward to coming back!!

came in bc i won a $50 gift card at my company's xmas raffle last year. i had no idea CJ's still existed!!! decided to just splurge since we didnt expect to come back. interior inside was surprisingly nice (think hotel) and dark, large and spacious. we sat in the booths where 2 (annoying) little kids were jumping up and down at the booth behind us. ordered an "international tea" and an arnold palmer. there was literally NO ALCOHOL in my international tea. $9 for what tasted like lemonade. wtf. also ordered an appetizer sampler (the smaller sampler) for $18 and it wasnt bad food, but it wasnt anything special to me either. we decided to share a steak and baked potato, which came with a small side salad. whatever they used for their croutons, it was terrible. atrocious. just. no. dont even. steak was decent, baked potato respectable. overall, for a table for 2, a smaller appetizer sampler, 1 alcoholic drink and 1 non, and a steak i feel like $70 is a lot to pay for the quality you get. its been a few days and the leftovers are just sitting in the fridge waiting to be tossed.

Got the widow burger with shoestring fries. These things need to be cut in half. When I first got my burger, I was like: how do I approach this thing? I proceeded to eat like half my fries while staring at this breaded figure quizzically. So yes, cut it in half and eat from the center out. The burgers had a really good freshness (recently killed cow... burger?) and it was a well-balanced burger. Maybe a little on the oily/greasy side. Still delicious, though. Fries really accentuated that greasy feeling you get from the meal. It must be called the widow burger because I married it, then ate it. I was hurtin' for a burger and came here. The server was nice, the place was nice (empty), and I got my burger fix.

Sad.... My mother and I always eat there when shopping at scp... We went there to enjoy wine and the men's finals of the us open. The bar area has 4tvs. All on football.... All on the same game. We asked if we could watch the tennis since half of the room wasn't paying attention to football and were told no that everyone was watching the game. Very poor customer service. The server said she asked people if they minded the change... She did not. We asked to watch the match Nd she promptly went to seating patrons in the restaurant portion... Not to return until she told us no. We cancelled our lunch and drink orders and went to karl Strauss down the way. Much more accommodating. Never to return to cj... Sad. Poor customer service.

Friendly and quick service. Large menu. Food is better than other Claim Jumpers. Plenty of parking. Frisco burger is very good.

Claim Jumper's is fine for what it is, a massive chain selling ludicrous portions to the very people that should not be there eating said portions. Whenever we have guests from Middle America out to SoCal, this is my ace card. From KC to Buffalo, the fly over section of America LOVES Claim Jumper's and why not? It's inexpensive, the portions are criminally large and it is no fuss. Besides, everyone should attempt to finish the "Ore Cart" at some point in their youth. Truth be told, it has been a decade since my last dinner at Claimie's. This is a Happy Hour joint for me when I am in the mood for a little Hot Wing debauchery. At $6.00, you can't beat the price and when you down a $4.00 draft brew with the wings, everything is alright with the world. They even offer a "Widowmaker" Burger (think monster sized beef patty with Smoked bacon, hand-battered onion rings, avocado, a chunk of Cheddar, mayonnaise and relish) for only $8.00 and you could feed a family of four with the damn thing. The Happy Hour Sliders and Calamari are both serviceable if not good as well. Sure, you are not going to find Eric Ripert in the kitchen, but that does not mean it should be written off in its entirety.

I should have read the previous reviews. Came here with my wife and kid to have a burger. Up to this visit I had always had a good experience at Claim Jumper. Not this time. Came here for a juicy burger but left disappointed. Food took forever to come out. Almost 25 min for 2 burgers. One of the burgers was dry and overcooked. We sent it back and had to wait another 15 min for a replacement. The rest of the food was just ok. I thought the Claim Jumper brand would do better but unfortunately today was a disappointment.

  • Alex G.

Food took over an hour to come out. It was busy but nobody was getting their food. Once we got to food, it was oily and horrible, not worth the wait. At least the manager was nice and took the appetizer off our bill and the servers were nice and apologetic.

Today's lunch was truly an AWESOME experience and it's all because of Eric our server. He was attentive, friendly, and funny. Eric greeted us with a smile and offered suggestions when we weren't sure of what we wanted. He was spot on in his suggestion and my husband and I truly enjoyed our meal. I had the rotisserie chicken which was cooked perfectly, followed by grilled vegetables cooked al dente, and a side of potato cakes. My husband had the baby back ribs where the meat was so tender that the meat fell off the bone. We topped off our meal with the Salted Caramel Pie which Eric highly recommended and it was heavenly with a mix of salty sweet. When you come here you should ASK FOR ERIC!

Sunday Xmas shopping Mayhem. What to eat? Claim Jumper Pro: was told it would be a 45 min wait. Seated in less than 30 mins. Con: given the wrong food over 3 times. Waitress did explain that our tables were switched. Pro: Food was good- BBQ Chicken Sandwich- sliced chicken, tomato, lettuce, cheese, all on a Italian bun. My wife had the bow tie pasta, which was good too. Calamari was decent. Had a good time despite the food errors. Seated right by the kitchen, felt like I was in Hells Kitchen without Gordon Ramsay. Pity

Awesome service and delicious food! What more could a girl ask for? I ordered the Chicken Parm with pasta. I also enjoyed their carrot cake, which was delicious and moist. I will be coming back.

My department comes here in occasion for lunches or birthday celebrations. The food is alright in my book but my boss seems to always have a craving for this place. It's a bit greasy to me but having it once awhile is okay by me. I highly recommend the widow maker burger. It's huge but completely manageable if you don't over stuff yourself with fries first. It's big and juicy. The bread and meat ratio is great. :D My coworkers always make fun of me for eating the whole thing whenever we come back here, They didn't think a petite girl like me can eat. I just smile and take a big bite. Their bow tie pasta is okay. The cheese bread that comes with it is good but so bad for my diet. Southwest egg rolls are good but again greasy lol. Caesar salad is okay nothing too extraordinary. We did place a large catering order the other day and they missed one of our trays. Luckily, we work nearby that we could pick it up right away. I guess one of the new waiters messed up and the manager was very apologetic. Claim jumpers is okay with me but not my first choice to eat out. Not my type of food but it's good for the portion size of the food.

Generally, Claim Jumper has too much food for me. But, I end up here about once a year to meet my dad for lunch when he is in town. It is the halfway point. The place is at the South Coast plaza, so parking can be tough during the holidays. The restaurant itself is large with a bar and the staff is friendly. The menu is pretty thick, but not overwhelming, with a decent variety. I had the pork sliders and fries. The sliders were good. Moist and flavored well. I love shoestring fries. They were cooked well and seasoned great. My youngest daughter ordered of the kids menu. But what came was anything but a kids meal. It was a huge grilled cheese sandwhich. Good for leftovers since my 3 yr old couldn't even finish half. She wanted more later at home but the bread had gotten hard and she couldn't bite it. Oh well. Overall it was a good dining experience.

I dont like hating this place, i grew up going to claim jumper, i think this particular location suffers from "turist food syndrome" just like boardwalk joints and amusement parks, they dont care because you probably wont be back eitherway....if you're gonna sell me a martini, start with a martini glass and if you're gonna give me that martini in a half EMPTY glass at least get a smaller glass so that i dont feel like you're totally screwing me....i guess the local crowd has no place here.....

Although I miss the old days of Claim Jumper before they were bought out by Landry's, the food is still good and you always get more than you should be able to stomach. So how does the SCP location fare? Pretty well for the most part. The location is clean and is pretty nice overall. Service is good and attentive. Food is consistent with all the other locations that I've been to. That's... really it. If you've been to a Claim Jumper before in the past 3 or so years, then you know what to expect. I really have nothing poor to say about this location, but nothing really stood out to earn that elusive fifth star.

  • Laina A.

Yep it's A-OK for a chain. When going the chain restaurant route, I usually want CPK or Cheesecake Factory, but Claim Jumper will also "do." You know what I just noticed? All three start with a C, coincidence or conspiracy?! Your thought for the day. This location is in South Coast Plaza and is very large, with a small side area-bar that also serves full menu. The menu is loaded and if you cannot find something that piques your interest I'd be surprised. They are a charge a bit more and fill you with food type of restaurant and chances are you will go home with a doggy-bag. The food, service and décor-ambience are all just fine, with some standouts and some disappointments. One plus is that on Sundays, all day, it's happy hour in the bar, with discounted drinks and quite a few discounted food options. For example, the widowmaker burger was $3 off and only $2 extra for fries. Sliders and tacos for $5. Claim Jumper is just fine folks.

I like that they brought back the Fried Chicken officially on the menu, but really disappointed that they no longer offer those amazing biscuits...considering it's what they are known for, I don't understand why they'd take that away from their menu - their biscuits were such a popular and delicious item! They now provide a "dinner bread", which is actually pretty mediocre as well as a salad with the meal, which is fine.

  • Charles R.

Still the best clam chowder in Orange County. It's after 3:00 pm, and they have great happy hour items to choose from. Over 19 specially priced items to choose from. Devon is doing a fine job as my server. I would dine here a lot more often if i didn't have to get on the freeway to get here. Before it closed, I use to visit the Irvine CJ 2 to 4 times a week.

We hadn't been to a Claim Jumper for a few years since they closed the Claim Jumper near our house, but we were at South Coast Plaza and had to wait an hour for our favorite Dim Sum restaurant, so we decided to try Claim Jumper. The food was Okay and my Bloody Mary was good, but the service was terrible. We received our main meal before our soup and salad. The server almost threw our food at us. My french onion soup was slopped all over my plate. The bread came halfway through dinner and our waitress ignored us for most of the time we were there. Claim Jumper really needs to train their employees better or treat them better. You can tell when servers care about their job. This definitely was not the case when we were there. We won't go back for at least another couple of years.

Worst Customer Service EVER.... We came here visiting out if town from Arizona & we came to eat here because the Claim Jumpers we go to at home is good..... Right from the start it went bad to worse. First they forgot my Mother in laws soup all together then at end of our meal FINALLY brought it. Then they forgot to give my Father in law his desert he ordered and I asked for a to go box as ND never got one. My Husband ordered the ultimate fish & chips & it was awful. My Husband complained and all we got is a measly desert... In my opinion should of took at least my mother in laws meal off the bill. We didn't even want it. Plus took forever just to get our food. We will never come here again.

  • Margo D.

I'd like to give them 1 1/2 stars but yelp doesn't give us that option. What is it with Claim Jumpers and terrible service? Granted, there have been a few times where the waiter or bartender was attentive but its more times they weren't than were. This most recent visit reminded me not to come back to this location again, maybe even any other CJ's in general. I like to sit at the bar because usually you can find a place quickly and its less crowded, which it was today but you would've thought it was a busy Friday night with the lack of attention to the customers. When we first got there our drink and food orders were taken pretty quickly which was great, we started off on a good foot. And then, we realized it had been 30 mins with no food, no one has refilled our drinks or let us know that our food was running late. Lo and behold 45 mins later our food comes out and my food is cold, great. I would've sent it back to reheat BUT it already took long enough to get the food to me, I didn't want to have to wait again, I ate around the cold parts and took the rest home. Their portions of food are huge, I ordered the Stuffed Baker and my friend ordered the Widow Maker. My stuffed baker sounded good on paper and even looked good but once I "dove" in, it was a lot of baker (potato) and not enough stuffing. My friend said their widow maker was good but he said it would've tasted better if he had ketchup with it, yea we asked for it and it never came....ho hum. The service ruined lunch for us and definitely will not be coming back.

Yelp 2014 Challenge #5/100 Not impressed with what I got for the price I was paying. The food that I received (the California Works pizza, regular size) was alright at best- and for $10 as well. The pizzas at CPK are better, or even Pieology and Blaze Pizza. The pizza crust was soft and almost collapsing upon itself. My friend got a Hickory BBQ burger. It looked tiny and the side of fries he got looked small as well. At the price he was paying (12.49), I would have gone to Red Robin. The service, however, is really nice and the wait was prompt (I do wish that the waiting things they gave you extended further down from that Starbucks). And oh yes, it took forever for them to split the check. It was a good 10-15 minutes for our waitress to split our check. One item, one person! Maybe I should have had that chicken pot pie....

Happy Valentines day everyone! Read some reviews and some are a little too dramatic lol. I can tell some of these yelpers obviously never worked in the f&b industry. Never blame the servers btw. Blame the management. Anyways, let's get started on my review. Wait: We came to SCP for some din tai fung. The wait was 2 hours which was too long for us because we were really hungry. We all decided to go to claim jumper since there wasn't a long line. There was 12 of us. We only wait 5 minutes or so then was seated which was really good; especially since it's Valentines day. So 1 star for that :) Service and food: While we sat and decided what we wanted to order, our waitress Nicole came took out drink orders and appetizers. Our drinks and appetizers came out less than 10 minutes which was good. When our waitress dropped them off, we were actually ready to order but our waitress walked away quickly. I don't blame her though. She was really busy. She came back a few minutes later and took all of our orders. Although it was really busy, our server Nicole was really nice, had on a smile which was a plus. She was really attentive and made sure we have everything. When she checked up on our table, she made sure to asked if we need anything else which I also really like. She remembered my extra butter and sour cream for my baked potato ^_^ and my pickles..usually servers always forget about it when I order it..I get so annoyed when I have to ask for it twice. Shout out to Nicole. You're a really great server :) I usually give out compliments alot because I am a server myself so I know great service when I encountered it which is barely. The food was amazing delcious especially the clam chowder hehehe All together I had a great meal and amazing service. I barely dine out due to the bad service I always received. You guys just scored a returning customer! 4 stars! Cahching! P.S for the complainers and telling viewers not try this place out... Yeah, no worries claim jumpers. Usually the complainers are always the ones that comes back (some even becomes regualrs) for more even though some of them commented "never coming back". Hahaha kk I'm done with my rant.

I actually enjoy coming to this restaurant! Service has always been good and the food of course, excellent!! Since it is at South Coast Plaza mall it is one of the few restaurants that the wait isn't "that" long (when you come on a weekend). Atmosphere is casual.

Total let down! My family and I came here before we went to watch the grinch across the street. I figured it would be good since it's in SCP. Boy was I wrong! I should have listen to the reviews on here! The waiter took forever to come back and never picked up the dirty plates or refilled my water . Drinks: weak, gross Food: salad looked sad like it came out of a bag. Not enough dressing. My tri tip was full of fat!! Gravy was salty. If you HAVE to eat here stick with the burgers, it was decend. Recap: don't bother eating here unless you have to

We just had lunch here, and we were not impressed. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, and the food was slow to come out. When the food did come out, a couple of the entrees were cold. Our waiter, Fabyan, was friendly and great. He removed an entree that my son didn't like from our bill. And he got another item for my son. That's customer service. Fabyan gets 5 stars, but the food quality gets 3 stars.

The meal was just meh. Service was meh. Overall 2 meh stars. The food was tough and the steak was too chewy. Fish was over cooked. Guys bringing out the food were clueless about the food and just what they were doing.

A Claim Jumper is a Claim Jumper is a Claim Jumper. That's kind of the point, right? If you want to go somewhere where the plates are big and the atmosphere is dark, this is the place for you. Order an Ore Cart. You'll be pleased. I prefer quality to quantity so my go to dish is the English Toffee Pudding. That is most definitely a good time. If there's a huge crowd, try the bar.

First of all, menu for dishes and nutrition should be on the SAME menu set! I ordered Clam Chowder and Chicken Pot Pie then discovered the small nutrition menu quietly tucked at the corner of the table. Calorie 3000+ and Sodium 2500+ of Chicken Pot Pie nearly knocked my socks off. Clam Chowder got another 526 Cal and 1177 of Sodium!! I definitely need to fast for the next 3 days!!!! Two stars are for so so services, well, location is good enough that the place are pretty full in the late afternoon 4ish. Again, they should have calories and nutrition value written on the same menu. California ban trans fat not for restaurants to double salt and potassium to drive blood pressure up still!!! Now I need to find a good review of diuretics, perhaps ?

Erik was our server while dining here. He took care of a few tables (one of them was a group of 20+) with excellent composure and attention to details while maintaining a bright and cheerful attitude. We would return for his service alone... Not to mention the food was very delicious!

Our family only came here because the wait at Maggiano's was way too long and Claim Jumpers is right behind it. All six of us ordered different items from the menu and it's funny how they all tasted the same: SALT. Everything was just too salty... The pastas, the salmon, the jambalaya... It's like the cooks are unaware that there are other ingredients, but I guess it's better than our food being bland...? We should have taken the 2 hour wait at Maggiano's...

My wife and I came here trying to eat lunch. When we got there, we wanted to sit outside to which the hostess said no problem, it's open seating. We go sit outside and then greeted by a very nice waitress...we already knew what we wanted so we ordered and she then brought our drinks. About 5 minutes goes by and we see the manger post a "reserved seating" sign and then I see our waitress look at the manager and he looked at her and shrugged his shoulders and then put another reserved seating sign up. Our waitress returned and topped off our drinks and didn't mention anything. So we figured it might have been just a later reservation. Then a group comes though the doors and to which they looked at us and one guy in the group looked at us and said...how are we going to do this? I looked at him annoyed and said not sure as we're sitting out here first, but happy to work something out. Frustrated, I get out of my seat and I go the waitress and explain that I would be happy to work something out and ask why she or her manager did not mention something. To which she replied, she'd talk to the manager and sit us elsewhere. So we go sit elsewhere and they moved us so quick we didn't have time to grab our beverages. After 5 minutes, another waitress comes by and says, "have you guys been helped?" And I said yes, at she seemed confused that we were there. After another couple of minutes of no food or drinks, my wife and I left. I wanted to mention something to the manager, but none in sight. I'm fan of claim jumpers but will not return to this location. It seems that theres just a training issue with management and should reconsider training there staff on how to at least approach someone to work something out versus just letting things fall where they may.

I know most LA peeps don't favor chains, but this place is delicious. The staff here has always been extremely welcoming, warm and attentive, which makes every visit a pleasure. I usually get the French onion soup and the fillet, which comes with some really nice choice of glazes. The choice of salads is extensive and pretty much everything gets cooked to order with no hickups. Hard to say it's not five stars because as far as chains go, Claim Jumper is top notch.

The appetizer-pretzel bread is delicious. Buttery, cheesy, and fluffy! I even got a clam chowder to eat it with and use the bread to wipe my bowl clean. Num, num, num. The callimari and service is good as well. I got the calzone and yes, the dough was just as delicious as the appetizer bread.

I love the atmosphere at this claim jumper location compared to all the other ones that I've been to.I was surprised they didn't have a salad bar but I got a spinach salad and it was delicious.my favorite part about the restaurant was the cheesy warm fresh baked bread that they offered before your meal definitely back!

The food was 5 stars!! The French dip is a little small and the chicken had a little too much bun. The Mac and cheese is literally bomb!! Fries are uh? That's fine though because next time I will get a healthy salad!

My family is in love with their cornbread croutons. So good. A group of four of us went and since we were shopping we had our baby in a stroller. They were very accommodating and put us at a table that we could easily keep the stroller by us. As an appetizer we had the zucchini. It was so good! Definitely recommend. We got the free cheese bread but it wasn't anything special. The lemonade was pretty delicious. Our entrees were the chicken and broccoli alfredo, the tortilla soup, the smothered chicken, and a chicken salad. Two of us got salads before our meal. I asked for more croutons because I love them and that's the main reason I go. They brought out extras for me and they were warm and sweet and oh so good! The alfredo wasn't the best. There was barely any sauce and not very flavorful. The chicken and broccoli were pretty good though. The chicken salad was also good, but nothing to rant and rave about. The soup was also pretty good. The smothered chicken was the most liked dish. The person who got it LOVES mushrooms and they loaded them on. She was very happy and could not wait for her leftovers the next day. Overall, a pretty good place to eat. I have also had the chicken pot pie and it's pretty dang good too. But, next time I might just get a big salad with extra EXTRA croutons. I love them.

Excellent food and also the best server i ever experienced. Her name was Chelle. She should be inducted in the "Servers Hall of Fame" !! Thanks from Bill and Ana

We met friends here tonight before seeing a show at Segerstrom Center. The woman who would be our server was entering the establishment for work, held the door for us and gave us a welcoming greeting and smile -- wonderful start. In the end our server was the best part of our experience. The place was very clean, but was extremely loud (not conducive to conversation), and the food was mediocre at best (though the cocktails were tasty). Great staff, good cocktails and cleanliness are the sum total for my rating. Hopefully, if we try again we'll have a better culinary experience.

I was super hungry and it was a Saturday night, so every restaurant around South Coast and Costa Mesa had hour long waits. Called Claim Jumper and they said maybe 10 minutes. Sounds good, so we went there. Hostesses were rude and ignorant. No one was there when we came so we waited at the desk. Then finally two hostesses that look like sluts came and just started minding their own business at the host desk. We were just staring at them for at least half a minute when one of them finally gives us her attention and says, "do you need anything?" ...uh yeah, maybe a table? Do you think i'm just resting my arms on this stand? Anyways she finally takes us to the table and I brush brush it off because I was ready to finally eat. I love clam chowder too, so I was pretty stoked. Clam chowder was pretty good, better than Boudin. I was excited for the food to come out. Since the soup was so good, i had pretty high hopes for some bomb pizza and steak and potato skins. Such disappointment. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pizza which was supposed to come with tomatoe and basil...they totally cheated me and only gave me some sausage crumbs and some pepperoni on he pizza. The crust was fat. The pizza just looked so unappetizing that I didnt even eat it. Pizza hut or dominos would even be better. The steak was peetty good except the fact that 1/2 the "steak" was just pure slabs of fat that we had to toss out. Baked potato was overbaked and burnt. Potato wedges sucked and were really chewy as if old. Also not flavorful at all. The waitress was literally not even there. I mean, how many tables is she even serving right now, 20? I only saw her serving 2 tables including my own and she was never even there to check up on us. We had a bunch of plates on out tables that werent cleared. We finished the bread and asked for a new one, and she put the new bread plate ON TOP OF THE OLD PLATE. WTF? Does it hurt to just take away the old plate? She also brought out the bread like when we were basically finishing up our meal. We asked her to bring it out when we had just finished ordering.... Then she finally came with the check (FINALLY) and thats when she started being friendlier and actually talking to us and asking about out meal. Jeez....tip digger. The clam chowder ended up being the only thing I liked. I had SUCH high hopes and was excited, but was so disappointed when the food came out. The people who work there made it worse as well.

Biggest waste of space at SCP. People just don't eat gigantic portions these days. Service is slow and food is below average. I ordered grilled shrimp with clam chowder. Shrimp was just ok but the soup was thin and salty. Hubs ordered turkey dinner and it tasted like canned turkey, stuffing was like eating StoveTop and potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. Ugh! The only positive was the baby plate for our son where he got to eat mandarin oranges for the first time and he loved it. Otherwise don't think we will back again. I won't be surprised if this place closes down. Takes up a ton of space for below average food.

Went to Claim Jumper for a work related lunch with about 10 people. We went right at noon which is normally a pretty busy time for an restaurant in the South Coast Plaza area but they seated us right away. We got drinks pretty quickly and they were doing some training with a new waitress so it was a little slow but overall the service was good for having a rather large party. I got the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. It was 7 ounces and in my opinion could have been twice that size because I always remember Claim Jumper for the huge portions. I had the tortilla soup for a starter and it was spicy but not to bad. I saw some of the salads that came to the table and kind of thought that I maybe should have gone with one of them. Solid 4 stars but not 5. The place just didn't blow me away.

Wow it's been a while since I stepped foot into this Claim Jumper. Last night my sister invited me over to dinner since she, her boys and husband was already there and I was around. So I walked over there - yep I live that close - it was about a 10 minute walk - I was thinking there would be a wait so I took my time but not only was there no wait - there wasn't too many diners either and it was a Sunday evening. Well I ordered the Meatloaf with Mashed Potatoes and it tasted pretty decent - maybe just a little on the salty side. The grilled veggies and mash potatoes were okay. And as always their portions are so huge I have never actually finished my meal in one sitting - usually anything I order here is like two meals for me. The service - well our waiter was - I assume was tired and really wanted to finish his shift because he really didn't seem like he wanted to work. It might be just one of those days for him - I wouldn't say he provided bad service but I can also see that he wasn't all that attentive. Ehhh it was a slow Sunday so I can't blame him. Overall I still enjoyed my dinner here and well nothing has changed much about this place.

I have done take out here often. Tonight even though I had to wait a few minutes due to a long order being put in on the phone I was checked on by a manager named Keith that started my order while the Togo server April was finishing. Once she addressed me she was very pleasant and swift. Before I even paid my order was being brought out by Keith and this is service. I loved it!! I need to come by more often. Boudin needs to take notes even though not in the same price point I'd spend more and come for better service.

This was a nice place to eat after doing some shopping. Def nicer than the food court. The service was great even on a busy Thursday although would have loved for our waiter to check on us more. Nonetheless the service was speedy and efficient. The food was really good. I got the traditional Cesar salad with a twist... Steak instead of chicken and my husband opted for the sliders with onion rings. Although my Cesar salad came out as a Cobb salad at first... They quickly rectified the order making for a satisfied customer. Hey... everyone makes mistakes right? All in all a nice Thursday date night with the hubby.

We had dinner there tonight to celebrate my step-dad's birthday. Our server was Nyall. He started off really good. He was quick to get our drinks and gave us time to pick out our meals. Throughout the meal, he checked up on us and made sure we had refills and whatever else we needed. Just towards the end is when I was a little unhappy with how it turned out because once he gave us the bill and we paid out, we didn't exist it seems. I was still waiting for a chocolate calzone to go. I had to flag down a manager and ask for my dessert. I saw the dessert on the expo line for maybe a little less than ten min. Our food was really good and the server was good throughout the whole dining experience with the exception of the end.

UPDATE. A more descriptive review of my last one.. So you get a better picture of my experience... The knife that was stabbed inside of our bread had a soggy piece of paper from a sugar packet, our waiter neglected to refill our drinks nor did he come to check on us throughout our meal. Our meal came with salads and they were never brought. The baked potato my date ordered was cold and our food was VERY bland. Not to mention the size of the food could've fed 3 of me.. We had spent our entire day working and were hoping for a relaxing, enjoyable meal and got this. We decided not to say anything to management because 1) we couldn't find them and 2) once our waiter zoomed past us to pick up our check we figured it wouldn't even be worth it. Sooooo to say we left with an extremely unstatisfying experience wasn't even the half of it.

Very disappointed with our takeout order. Tortilla and potato soup plain and tasted old. $5.99 for very small portions. Do Not order the "California citrus chicken salad ". The worse salad that I ever had. $13.99 for lettuce, old/frozen taste-chicken and big pieces of onions. The portion of my salad was similar to the fast food restaurants salads but it tasted worse. This location used to be my favor restaurants... I will not return.

Well round 2 was unsuccessful. ..can't say I didn't try,I gave them a second chance but the service once again was horribly lacking It didn't start off that way but it turned quickly . I'm still waiting for the Server Lauren to smile but from what I understand she was having a bad day. Now Logan on the other hand he was just a food runner but let me tell you the attitude coming from that guy was amazing he dropped off the food and asked if we "needed anything else". Then he proceeded to walk away while we were talking when he realized we actually wanted something, he rolled his eyes and just had this look of disgust on his face the entire time and when he came back just tossed what we asked for on the table and left. We usually get our business lunches catered from this CJ but maybe losing a 200 people business lunch catering will help to get management to open their eyes about their servers.

We always come here before a show at Segerstrom Hall. the 24 ounce ribeye and the filet mignon are always perfect, and we're always in a rush. they always take reservations and get us in and out of here in less than 45 minutes, "super awesome"!, even on busy nights like tonight.

I use to love this location but unfortunately our last visit will be our final visit. Service is soooooo sllooooowwwww. My friend found a dead fly in her salad. Staff was very nice and manager comped her new meal. They handled the situation very well. My friend got there before me and ordered. I got there maybe 10 min later then ordered. My food came out 1st and I noticed a few others getting their food before my friend. It was just a sandwich and salad. When we were done and after we paid we were completely ignored. I had to flag down our waitress to get a to go container for my daughter's soup. After 20+ minutes she got me the container. I watched her and noticed she made a few stops at her other tables then when she looked over at ours she went and got the container. I will go back to a CJ but another location.

Very convenient location in South Coast plaza. Large, spacious, family friendly. Really friendly service too! Can't ask for much more in a famous chain like Claim Jumper. Love the warm, complimentary appetizer bread with marinara sauce. For dessert, order their chocolate chip calzone! It's super huge and can easily feed 3-4 people. BEST DESSERT EVER.

Horrible service and food. This place have gone down from what I have known. I think the price is quite high for an entree and portions seem to shrink in my opinion. I had meatloaf. Just plain salty. My wife had creole style salmon with potato cake. All I can taste is how salty it is. Server was quite forgetful and slow also. Have to remind him like three time for a chocolate milk.

Baseball fan night 3-8:30 happy hour! I'm such a fan of this place's happy hour. They have such delicious drinks, like a pomegranate margarita for $5! How can you beat that? I love their late happy hours, but I don't think it's year round. I heard they extended their baseball fan nights. Their appetizer happy hour menu is really good too. Loved their fried lemony zucchinni. Loved their pizza too. So cheap and so good! Portions are, of course, small for happy hour. The drinks are more than worth it! The venue itself is pretty big with lots of seating and minimal wait. I love this Claim Jumper! Oh, and once, they had a pretty great birthday deal if you sign up: buy one get one free entre.

This restaurant has the best food. Their famous garlic cheese bread is amazing, and baby back pork ribs are now my favorite food. This is excellent, and I definitely recommend it. They also have quick service! I got ribs to go in 4 1/2 minutes!

2-1/2 stars. I haven't been to a Claim Jumper since the one in Irvine closed a while ago. We decided to come here on a Saturday for an early dinner (?) since it was close to South Coast Repertory, where we just watched a show, plus we had 3 kids in tow. It was a half-arse time, around 4:00p, so the restaurant was still kind of empty. I got a strawberry lemonade to start with, which ended up being this artificially colored watered down drink. The menu said "made fresh daily", but does that mean they just mix the powder with water right when they get the order? I ordered the shrimp fresca pasta ($15.99). The parmesan crusted shrimp were salty for me, and the pasta didn't have much flavor, yet it was really oily. My stomach felt heavy afterwards (and I only ate half of it). The kid's menu wasn't any better. I'm not trying to hate, but considering they boast that they were named one of the 10 best family restaurants in the U.S. by Parents magazine, their "award winning" menu pretty much included a lot of artery clogging food. For kids. Some of the side choices just gives the clogging that extra oomph (and why is a side of green salad an extra $2.50?). I used to go to Claim Jumper from time to time when I was younger, but I don't think my now "mature" health can handle it anymore. Oh, the 1/2 star is for the convenience of being inside the mall, and that it probably is a favorable joint for those after work hours.

I'm so sorry Claim Jumper. It's not you...it's me! I'll give you 2 1/2 stars. :) Pros: - Luckily service has always been on point. - Decor is nice - love the "chandeliers" - great for parties/ large groups Cons: - Food a tad bit greasy. OR maybe i just haven't ordered the right entree. (clearly) - Plates are huge. I mean, i LOVE to eat, but these plates are still a bit much. Last time i got the chicken bow tie pasta and i got full just looking at it. Anyway - I really don't care. I am still going to come because i LOVE their chocolate chip calzone AND their Apple Crumb Cobbler! Mmmmm....

Claim Jumper has a menu with lots of options. Their service is very good. It is a great place to meet friends because their prices are reasonable. I enjoy their food. Their loyalty program is the best. and you can receive special treatment if you are a member.

Its an ok place for happy hour and the regular menu is extensive but maybe it's because I've been here so many times because I don't feel like there's anything super delicious in the menu. Its a huge place so there's rarely a wait. Right next to forever 21. The service is really good and attentive.

Always been a fan of Claim Jumper until about a year ago when we visited the one in Santa Ana and realized many of our menu faves we gone :( Alas, my faith has been restored! After dreadful Christmas shopping at South Coast, Claim Jumper was so very conveniently located on our mall exit and we gave in. Of course it's ginormous and clean as all the other Claim Jumpers we've visited. We were greeted and seated immediately. The waitress came quickly and came back often (which is always a great thing to me). We started off with their Potato Cheese Soup! Always good, always a fave! Then, I ordered the Rotisserie Apple Glazed Chicken with Veggies, Three Cheese Potato Cakes & a Biscuit and my boo ordered Hickory Chicken Breast with Veggies and Green Beans. Now, they did get his order partly wrong because instead of the Green Beans they gave him Three Cheese Cakes. HOWEVER, the waitress apologized immensely and quickly brought him an order of the Green Beans (and he got to keep the potato cakes!) The food was delicious, what more can I say? They still have not brought back our old faves (Gold Rush Chicken & Parmesan Crusted Chicken), but they have some delightful alternatives. Plus, they kept my Diet Coke coming!!!!!! I love when I don't have to ask for a refill and it just appears like a little present! Will we be back? SURE!!!!!!!!

Service is great but the food is HORRIBlE :/ expected much better and left still hungry! But thanks for the bit dark environment, some places are so darn bright I feel like I'm getting a sun tan outside or something! If you want large portions of food that's whatever this is the best place for it! Even to share! But if u want quality food, this is no bueno!

This is one of the last Claim Jumper's left in So. Cal. The food isn't the best, but it's not bad. It's comfort food, what's not to like? The service has a little left to be desired, but overall it's passable, especially if you're in the mood for comfort food.

Claim Jumper has become more upscale with their new décor. The ribeye steak I ordered was very good and the 16 oz portion satisfied my appetite. The cooked vegetables were delicious and the clam chowder was very good. The only downside was the sour dough bread: it was dry and unsavory. The salad was good and the desserts are fantastic. Landry's, the owners of McCormick & Schmick's, Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Chart House, Mastro's Restaurants, Rainforest Café, Rusty Pelican, Morton's The Steakhouse, Saltgrass Steak House, and many others, did a great job improving the quality of their steaks and the overall presentation of their food. The service was good and the staff was polite. Overall, a great place to eat. Thank you Anna Church & Brett for making our experience so pleasant. We will return with our family, friends and business associates. Make sure you sign up for Landry's rewards program.

What happened? I've been eating at Claim Jumper for 20 years, and this particular one since it opened. I cannot believe how it has changed. It's as if it's been taken over by a public company who has lost interest in what made them great (sort of like Mimi's Cafe). First of all, it took 40 minutes to get our salads today and it wasn't even that busy. My spinach salad was nothing like the one I've ordered for over 10 years. It was wilty and small, and you could barely see any of the other ingredients that are supposed to be in there like crunchy noodles and glazed pecans and other bits of goodness. The server actually pointed out that he saw ONE crunchy noodle in my salad. Our whole group was so disappointed with the food and service. The kids fish and chips, which my 10-year-old usually ordered is now like $12! It was never that expensive. After complaining about the wait and the food, the only thing they offered was to comp the soup. Dang, I'm sad because this was our go-to restaurant for so long. UPDATE: I just found out they were sold to Landry's (who also owns Bubba Gump). That explains EVERYTHING! How terribly sad. Welcome to the new Applebees.

Lets start with the wait: came in and was seated immediately! The clam chowder soup wa s excellent! 《When mine finally arrived》 Our entire party order soup, all were served, minus one...mine. I think our server, Megan is still in training, she didn't check on us much and seemed like she had help from a manager. The service lacked there for the food was okay. Had the mini french dip. It was good. My friends Chinese chicken salad looked really good. 4 stars for the food 2 stars for the service Over all 3 star rating... I'll come back, not anytime soon... but eventually...

This is more of a review for my future self than anyone else but you can go ahead and give my review a look and save yourself from a disappointing experience at Claim Jumpers. Future self: Stop coming to Claim Jumpers! You always feel somewhat regretful of your meals here and then after a year or so goes by and you think, "Hey, Claim Jumpers sounds good right now. Maybe they've improved? " They have not. They never do. In fact, it gets just a little bit worse every time you go. The only reason you remember it being good is because time colors your perspective! ! It's called nostalgia and please stop falling for it! This time you split an order of country fried steak and an order of cheesy potato cakes with your husband. Both the silverware and the platter the food came on was greasy, covered in waterspots, and unappealing. The pre-meal dinner roll was a cross between a stale croissant and a stale dinner roll covered in pizza sauce with a side of pizza sauce to dip it in. Stop wasting your calories on that! The country fried steak was so salty you only finished half of the half portion and pushed the rest of it on to your poor husband's plate. The salad was kind of weird because the cheddar cheese seemed like it was sitting out for a while and getting limp and greasy. The corn bread croutons were weird. The strawberry lemonade was outrageously sweet and kind of gave you a headache. And to top it off, you got a slice of motherlode chocolate cake. And the chocolate cake is just ok. And the potato cake was decent. Please stop coming here. Just find a better American food restaurant already and stop using Claim Jumper as your fall back restaurant. For Christ's sake, you're an American who's lived most of her life in America! You can make a better meal at home! Stop being so lazy, g*dd*mn*t! You can do this, future me. I believe in you. Much love, Past and Present Me

I used to love this place, specially the éclair with the ice cream and all the fixings. Unfortunately the quality went down, the portions are way to big even to share. I got an appetizer (pan seared tuna) and I had to share it. To sum this up.......if you like BIG portions and no quality in food this is the place for you.

WHAT??? No more cheese bread? No more blueberry muffins? No more corn bread? No more biscuits? NOOOOO!!! What happened to you, Claim Jumper? These are pretty drastic changes. If you're trying to be anti-carb, that is just disappointing. You should have kept those items on the menu, but then added lower carb alternatives and let the consumer decide what they want. You made the decision for us. Not cool.

One of my favorite spot!! Everything looks so good!! All of orders I had ever were so great. Especially, "citrus salad" was impressed the taste and the smell. Although, I can't remind correct name. Rest room is always clean. Beautiful terrace. Nice bar counter.

I didn't know there was a Claim Jumper at the SCP mall. Since I have frequented this chain before with great results, I decided to take a break from shopping and meet a friend there. I walked in and two hostesses are at the front desk, one was on the phone getting irritated with a caller and the other was working on something at the front desk. So I waited until they were done to seat me. Neither one acknowledged me. I continued to wait patiently for a few more minutes, still, no acknowledgment. I then asked to see a menu, was given a menu, but not asked if I wanted a table or food to go or anything. Stood in seriously disbelief, waiter walks by, says something to the two hostesses, looks at me and keeps on going. Really? I then put down the menu right in front of her and left. But since someone was meeting me there and we were pressed for time we unfortunately had to eat there. Went back inside and right up to the hostess desk and yup, you guessed it, absolutely no acknowledgment. I finally said, "Excuse me but can I please be seated?" A waitress had just come up at this time and she was the one to finally seat me. Don't even ask about the food, mediocre at best. Waitress didn't even know if my entree included a salad. Again, really?! If there's anything that drives me crazy is someone not knowing their product. Managers of Claim Jumper, are you reading ANY of these reviews here on Yelp? Bottom line: Don't waste your time or money on this place, go elsewhere.

This review would have been 4 stars if it wasn't for the rude and sour-faced hostess named Jenny. April, our server was just a sweetheart. Such a bubbly girl with tons of smiles. Totally enjoyed dinner because of her! Jenny on the other hand did nothing but roll her eyes at every customer that walked in the door. I asked her a simple question about happy hour and she responded with an attitude. Long story short, she didn't waste her time making anybody that walked through the doors feel welcomed. Oh and also, one other employee told Jenny that there was a table ready for us. But Jenny replied with "well they still have 14 minutes left to wait" since she quoted us a 30 minute wait. I found this extremely annoying. So did she want us to wait when we didn't need to? Ugh! Food was great and all but when the first person to greet you when you walk in is just unpleasant, this just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. If I go back to this location and she's the first person to greet me, I might just walk back out the door.

Had a terrible experience today . Ordered the bbq chicken pizza and had a very unpleasant surprise . Took a slice , bit into it and I bit into something hard . I took out the pieces in my mouth and there was some hard black plastic in my pizza! What the heck was that even doing there... I look at the other slices and I see other bits of black hard plastic bake in the pizza... The manager came out and told me some excuse that it was charcoal but it clearly wasn't charcoal , it was hard black plastic . What would've happened if I swallowed it? Or even chip my tooth biting into it... The manager acted nonchalant about it and only took the pizza off the bill. That's literally all he did... I barely even took a bite too. This experience totally ruined my night and my experience here. What made it worse was that the manager didn't even tried to redeem my night by saying or doing anything else. Just a lame oh must be charcoal from baking the pizza and oh did you wanna order anything else? I literally had my appetite ruined -___- be careful eating here.... Other than that server was nice. Would I come back? Heck no.

Ok, I use to LOVE claim jumper. It seems that the recession really hit them hard, smaller portions, poor service, and your lucky if your fries come out hot. A little disappointing but probably won't completely give up on them just yet. Step it up CJ!

We were turned away at Z'Tejas earlier because of our size of our party. But Claim Jumper took us in right away and our server, Lindsay, was fantastic. Seriously - all 19 of us were raving about her. The food is what you'd expect from a Claim Jumper. A little heavy for my taste but decent. I'm not terribly impressed with their drinks or prices.

At one point in the past, Claim Jumper was an old west themed restaurant, with huge delicious portions. It was a place you went to on special occasions, and it was going to be an experience! Now, it's been purchased by Landrys. These are people that think they know how to improve a winning business plan. The first thing you will notice, is the California Pizza Kitchen envy. The decor is post modern, the menu is basically CPK with steaks. It's really sad they did this to this place. The owners / boards taste painted right over the character of this classic place, and replaced it with menu filled with red cabbage sliced salad, and fancy plates with designer food arrangements. The food: It's O.K. I can't complain too much. The steak is good. Pot Pie is still delicious. You won't be too disappointed, except in the price.

Its been years since I've been to a Claim Jumper. Growing up, it was one of my favorite places to eat. However, I feel like in an effort to help the somewhat struggling chain (many locations have shut down over the years) something has been lost. This location, since it's part of South Coast Plaza, is dressed up a lot so gone is the gold rush era charm that I used to love. Sure, there are some western-esque pieces scattered, but nothing that is reminiscent of the days now gone. But I also feel like the menu has been downsized a lot. I remember them having a much bigger selection with a little bit of everything. On this visit, I was surprised to see a lot of the sandwiches & dishes I used to get completely gone. Sure, the food was still good and portion sizes are still welcomely big, but I just feel like the charm & draw of Claim Jumper is now gone. Can we at least get our mason jar cups back?

Food was ok. Not the best. Our server was very nice but forgetful. She came back 2 times to ask us about what we ordered. Then when we were leaving we asked for a cupcake to go and she never brought it.

Portions are very large so don't let the price fool ya. Nachos are very americanized (in a good way!) Overall it was pretty good Southwest eggrolls were my favorite! Although nothing like a regular eggroll, it is just so easy to eat and makes you want more! Sliders and fries are decent. Nothing too great. Can't remember much more from the last time I've been here.

Claim Jumper Pot Pie is always great comfort food. Claim Jumper has certainly been through its changes over the years, and this location does not have their formally iconic salad bar. Food is good, service was great, and the times we have been here have been fantastic.

Claim Jumper is a chain restaurant and for some reason, I only eaten in this particular establishment. The menu choices are good, the service is fast and the food is good.

Well, the place is nice looking. Our waiter was a prissy little thing. Was very rude. Silverware was dirty, and not just hard water stains, but food pieces. Food got to us in a resonable amount of time, but was only warm and seemed like it was sitting without heat for a bit. I'll probably go back. I love their zucchini appetizer.

1 star for the extremely friendly, prompt, and professional waitress we had. We waited 30 minutes to be seated even though half the place was empty. It's the same trick half empty night clubs use. I'm sure the excuse is they had to set the table, but we weren't born yesterday. Food was blah, pretty mediocre, restrooms were disgusting, our family described both men and women restrooms to be unclean. Never going back again, even if the waitress was awesome.

I give 2 stars only because the street tacos and the pretzels were tasty. Happy hour drinks were weak... like no alcohol in them weak... I sent my my delicious (but presumably virgin) martini back because I could tell that there was very little to no alcohol in it. The server argued with me on how the drinks are pre measured. I then decided to try my luck with a well drink because how could they gyp me with a well drink? So I ordered a cranberry vodka. Again, there must have been at best a half ounce of vodka in it. I don't drink very often so I can say, with certainty, that half of a martini AND an entire cran/vod would normally have me blitzed... but whatever, I didn't complain about that one. The server generally seemed annoyed at the fact that he was working but when it came time to give us our check, he must have remembered that he was working for tips and all of a sudden because pleasant and helpful.

After a lil shopping sesh last week, me and a couple friends decided to go into Claim Jumper to grub and being not so familiar with the restaurant I didn't know what to expect. I left super happy and super full! Especially since Lindsay, our server, insisted on the motherload cake after everything!! (worth it...trustt) She was awesome the whole time...never stopped smiling and was always two steps ahead of us. Food: We got a bunchhh and left no bite uneaten. The french onion soup is RIDICULOUS and I'm not even a soup guy, and my palate was definitely please with the spinach artichoke dip. Next up was my entree - tri tip & shrimp. What's cool is that it came with a huge caesar salad, bread AND a side of your choice...try the potato cakes. Yum. Service: This is where the 5 stars came in. Lindsay made our meal FUN. We kinda messed with her in the beginning goofin around (because there were obvious fans of hers at our table) but she just played along with it and kept on smiling and laughing with us. And since it was my first time there, she gave great recommendations. Thanks Lindsay! Will return!

Ok, it is official -- Claim Jumper is over. The place has jumped the shark, lost its spark, died on the vine, and any other cliché that you can think of. The food has become truly mediocre. To start, the side salad was wilted and waterlogged, and waitress who brought it over had such a scowl on her face that you would think she was being forced to eat this meal. Now I admit the club sandwich was huge, but all bread. Where is the meat? The meat I found was almost non existent and then for some strange reason they heated up the ham before putting it on the sandwich. So half of the club was hot and half was cold. It also had the wrong cheese from what was mentioned on the menu -- or Gouda started to have holes and smell like Swiss. As for the waitress, she was absent for most of the meal, and manager (while nice) had to apologize for our over cooked kids meals. Overall, this meal was blah. The only nice part, was the quite good complementary cheese bread, which was not served until our meal arrived. Now I know why so many of these have closed. I guess I will just have to keep my fond memories of the Claim Jumper and move on. So long old friend.

I came here for the first time about two days ago with my cousin and sister for a good meal. We wanted to try something new so we decided to try this place out. We ordered Buffalo Wild Wings as appetizers and those were really good! I loved them so much! I ordered a chicken breast with fries and Mac n cheese. The fries were pretty good but everything else was alright. I gave them such low ratings because of the service. Out server was probably the rudest server I have ever had in my life. She gave us a lot of attitude and she kept rushing me to order and calling me "sweetheart" which kind of creeped me out. Towards the end of our dinner she started being nice to us because of coarse she wanted a tip. I didn't leave her any tip because she did not deserve it, my sister left a tip only because she is nicer than I am and felt bad. The next time I feel like eating here I will probably just order it togo because that service we had was HORRIBLE.

I have a real problem when the table that sat five minutes after me get their food and mine is not even here yet. The server actually came up right after and said I am going to check on your food it should be coming right up not a good sign that my food is ready seriously. This place is awesome the location is great clean and hey south coast plaza but when your hungry and your waiting and waiting and waiting their is a problem with that the other table that was in front if us actually eat their food drinks and left that's how long I have been waiting and the party that got their food before me actually is paying now as I write this review is not even busy here for me to be waiting this long for blacken chicken pasta yambalaya and grilled cheese and a pizza if you cant do that in like ten minutes you have a a problem in the kitchen with the server or your entire system as I write this review another table just sat down in front of us where the other table left not more then five minutes ago an our food is finally it has taken me ten minutes to write this and all this has happened during this time will see how this meal is

The portions are big - the food is standard. The service on the orher hand is inconsistent and you never know what your going to get. Their plate/silverware looks spotty. We dont go often just if we really want a change and we cross our fingers!

I think this place used to be better. My last few visits have left me cold. It's Claim Jumper, so you know what's coming: Huge portions and a 4-digit calorie count on most meals. Down home comfort food. Be prepared to bring food home unless you're up for a gluttony-fest. I'm not here to judge. I like to punctuate my shopping with a cocktail now and then so I've put some time in at the bar over the years. Very nice and friendly bartenders. Overpouring seems rampant -- I once saw a Long Island Iced tea being made that would have tranquillized an elephant. Holy god. My last visit brought me to the bar for an early lunch. BBQ chicken sandwich and a beer. 11:40am. 2/3 empty restaurant. Waited 20 min for my food. Fries were barely lukewarm. Sandwich was quite good. Nobody offered me water. Maybe drought protocol is in effect. $18 something before tip. Stella was around $6.50 (pint) IIRC. Lunch was $11 or so. Don't avoid this place, but go in well-informed and with tempered expectations. I think quality and service have slipped.

We ate at Claim Jumper at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, California on Thursday evening 13 March 2014. When we arrived we checked in with the hostess and immediately we were given a booth, even though it was close to 6PM. Our waiter Tony showed up before the hostess even left the table. How nice!! We explained to Tony that we had just left Maggiano's LIttle Italy. We told him we had a very bad experience, we were upset and hungry. He took our drink order and returned in no time with our drinks. We were in shock. He checked back with us often. My water glass was always full. The evening got better and better. Since we had only been to a Claim Jumper years ago in another city my husband asked for recommendations. Their menu has something for everyone. For an appetizer my husband had the French Onion Soup and I had the Clam Chowder. The best we have ever had. For our meal my husband decided on the Calzone and I had the Steak & Shrimp. The food arrived in a timely matter, hot and wonderful . My only complaint was there were only 4 shrimp. They were wonderful and I could have eaten them all night. My steak was cooked just the way I love it & ordered it. The atmosphere was wonderful and even though it got very busy the noise level was not over whelming. I loved the fact that we could sit & talk without having to fight to hear over loud music or people. Before we had a chance to ask for a manger to come to the table to tell him what wonderful service we had, a manager stopped at our table to ask us. I feel so bad because I don't remember the young man's name. Our evening started out horrible at Maggiano's but ended up being wonderful at Claim Jumper. We left the restaurant feeling full & very happy. I can honestly say we will definitely be back, soon and very often. Next time we will bring family & friends. I love the fact that they are close to the freeway, Segerstrom Hall and of course the South Coast Plaza mall.

We liked our steaks and baked potatoes. The waitresses and host were very kind and helpful. I took one star off because the food is average. We have no complaints, but it didn't stand out from other chain restaurants. We'll definitely go back because we liked the service a lot.

Portions are huge. Staff were super nice. We got the appetizer combo and the steak & shrimp between 3 people. We didn't finish because the portions were insane. It was a friend's birthday and they brought out a complementary birthday cake that could feed an entire third world country! It was delicious. Parking on a weekend night can be rough amd if its busy the service is scarce, but the staff are really trying..I think they need more waiters on weekends during dinner. Other than that this place was a fun place to celebrate a birthday dinner.

Went here on a Thursday night for 7 people. The wait was about 25-30 minutes so we decided to shop around until then. We got sat at a huge table which was very comfortable! I ordered the Absolut Tortellini which was absolutely amazing! I couldn't finish the whole thing so I was able to take some home. Our server was very accommodating and attentive. I would most definitely come back to this claim jumper :)

If you get to South Coast Rep early, and have time to kill, the box office sends you over to Claim Jumper. A short walk over the lovely bridge. The South Coast Mall is hopping on a Saturday night, the things you learn about Orange County. But I must say going up and down stairs to check out dining options, that mall is not pedestrian-friendly. Luckily on our second try, some people vacated the bar area for a table, and we benefitted. We had a drink and shared some lemon parmesan fried zucchini. It arrived piping hot. It was a great pre-theater snack.

This place has such a large menu it's hard to decide what you want. Atmosphere is darker and peaceful. Food is comparable to a lazy dog. They do have a good selection of appetizers. Prices are a little high but portions are large.

This was actually my first time coming to claim jumpers. I thought the food was decently priced. I ordered the tri-tip&shrimp dinner special and my boyfriend ordered the pot pie. The service we received was great, she was very attentive to us as brought out food out fast. Everything looked great! The reason for the three stars is because although the good looked GREAT, the taste was not. I was so looking forward to my meal, the first bite of vegetables I took was enough for me. They were burnt I couldn't believe they actually served them that way!

  • Alexis C.

Great place. The food is good too. The price is fair considering the large portions they give. I always love ordering the cheese cake at claim jumpers, but the one I ordered here seemed different than the one I'm used to. Kinda disappointed about that.

Place was busy for lunch but the service was still fast and polite. My coworkers and I went for a celebration and had huge portions of food which was a huge plus. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. All in all we had a great time and enjoyed the atmosphere.

Claim Jumper rates a 4 out of 5 on my personal rating system for restaurants. Excellent service, wonderful variety, incredible value for the money. I do not use such superlatives lightly, this restaurant has earned my respect and admiration over a number of visits. If you have ever driven by one and noticed a lot of folks exiting the restaurant with shopping bags, it is not because they have stopped in for a quick meal after shopping! I will warn you this review is your average restaurant review, because it is not possible to describe the restaurant adequately otherwise. Despite the large number of folks dining at the Claim Jumper at any one time (they seat over a hundred), the decor is charming, the noise level muffled so that each table will serve as a little oasis, where you will be quickly served, discretely checked on, by serving folks who seem to care that you enjoy your meal, and you can have the first non-holiday feast you may have had in quite some time. I have rarely seen any table leave before me, where each person, did not have a small shopping bag, or was cuddling a bag full of filled styrofoam take-home boxes, to their chest. Oh yes, decent beer and wine choices as well, good coffee.

Finally decided to try this place out again since it had been years since I've been here. Overall I would say this place is just average, maybe a little bit better than that. The menu has a lot of different options and a lot of things seemed appetizing so it was hard to choose but I finally chose the sliders and my boyfriend chose chicken Alfredo pasta. The sliders were OK at best I would say. Nothing special about them and they tasted a bit bland. My boyfriends pasta was a bit better and the garlic cheese bread that came with it was really good. The guy who brought our food forgot our fries and our server didn't check on us for a while after that so it did take some time to get those. For dessert we had the chocolate cake and it was massive! Definitely for sharing for up to 4 people. It was pretty good I guess. I'll probably come back but not anytime soon.

Sorry to say but this place has gone down hill... I was disgusted by their utensils. I always wipe my settings with paper nakpins but this was to the extreme! Nothing was washed properly and they went ahead and wrapped the dirty steak knives and forks with their cloth napkins. Our server on the other hand hardly stopped by to ask if we needed anything and when he did, he was always in a rush. I literally wanted to walk out of this restaurant but I didn't want my 5 yr old daughter to see me in action... I did confront the manager about the dirty forks and knives (see photos posted). All he said was how it was not right and it shouldn't be dirty in the first place and offered to bring new ones. Never going back!!

Very disappointed at the management who sold me on a gift card which they said I could use tonight, but then when the bill came they said, it could not be used. To make matters worse, after they told me I could use the gift card, they sold me on a Landry's club membership plan, stating that would gain me an additional 10% off on tonight's meal. I double-confirmed this with the store manager (David) prior to purchasing both cards and he reassured me and processed my orders. Then, he even processed my payments at the table, but then he told me that "neither" offer was working in the computer and that using at the night of purchase was not the intention of either offer. This turned into a major haggle-hassle at the table during a birthday celebration. Shame on making this birthday event a horrible memory. Will not visit any of the Landry restaurants anytime soon - especially this Claim Jumper. Management needs to honor their deals and offers they make with customers, especially if they are going to "advertise and push" these offers so hard to their paying customers - who have many other options to choose from. By the way, their new caramel salted mud pie is not a strong option.

I haven't been to this place in a few years and decided to check out their lunch menu. A couple of coworkers and myself went in at lunch time. Not real crowded for a noon weekday crowd. -Waiter was nice and friendly. We ordered and he warned us that our food might come out at different times because one of my coworkers ordered a mini pizza. Very strange to say that. -After waiting a while my order, chili in a bread bowl and the pizza came out. My other friend's order didn't make it out at the same time, a cobb sandwich! The manager (I think it was her) came to our table and said his sandwich was coming right out. She offered him a salad or bowl of soup. That's tip #1 that the food wasn't coming out right away. -More than 10 minutes of waiting for the sandwich it finally arrived. The food was okay, nothing outstanding. Our waiter would drop off more drinks but then disappear for a while. The whole experience was not the best. I really hate it when you are with other people and the table's food doesn't come out at once and someone or multiple people wait for their food while others sit and let their food get cold. Because of that experience and the food was just ok. I'm not going to be returning.

Claim Jumper is literally a part of my childhood. Growing up my best friend and I lived for ribs and shoestring fries and mini corn dogs and sliders. Maybe I just grew up and realized that my taste buds are better accustomed to better tasting food but my recent visit here left me a lot to think about. Or maybe they just changed their recipes. The stars here are for the service and cleanliness. Waiters attentive and good environment. Food however tasted incredibly mediocre. The widow maker is decent but not amazing- the fries that I thought were heavenly before now taste bland. Even the ribs and corn dogs didnt hold the same flavors as I had dreamed of in the past. If you really crave food in this area try out Rainforest Cafe or Capital Grille or Maggiano's.

I have never been to claim jumper before, I hope to never go back. Everything is so delicious. I devoured 2 seperate desserts after finishing my delicious meal... I would recommend this place. Save room for dessert, in fact; start with dessert, then go from there.

Great service from Jordan, attentive and polite from the moment we sat down. Checked up on us often in case we needed anything. I ordered the Atlantic Salmon, everything about it was amazing, the vegetables, and rice were just spot on. The atmosphere in here was very nice and cosy, being able to overlook the kitchen was a nice little thing. Will come back and I do recommend to anyone looking to spend a bit more for a meal out.

Ambiance: Great atmosphere, furniture is modern, and everything feels clean. Service: Positive and friendly! Location: 2nd Level at South Coast Plaza, near Sear's, Forever 21, Starbucks and Haagen Dazs. Some of the food I've had: ~Fried potato cakes appetizer (mmm... simple fried goodness with this amazing sauce on top, not too tangy or spicy either) yelp.com/biz_photos/7HnY… ~Fish Tacos Lunch (It's a notch better than Rubio's, but a bit on the expensive side... very flavorful and delicious! The batter is way better than Rubio's... I may have found a new replacement for fish taco cravings!) yelp.com/biz_photos/7HnY… ~Tri tip with mash potatoes and grilled veggies (Started off chewy, but the pieces got better and less chewy with each bite... doesn't compare to Stone Fire Grill's, but it'll do. The sides are good, nothing to rant about though). yelp.com/biz_photos/7HnY… Story: I'm a huuuuge fan of their clam chowder and cheesy bread. Their ribs, chicken, shrimp, chips and salsa, and pasta aren't terrible either. I like to go here for lunch, dinner, and happy hour; and have not had a terrible experience yet.

Very salty food. (At least now I have an excuse to people who call me fat - I'm not fat, I'm swollen from the salt at Claim Jumper!) Service is a bit on the slow side. Only positive thing is the size of the restaurant dining area. Dining area has large open feel to it. Makes me wonder why so many CJs have closed in recent years.

Dinner with my boys... We started with appetizers coconut shrimp and sliders. The sliders took the prize both boys loved them. For dinner we had mini corn dogs, meat lovers pizza and salmon (it was a bit salty.) But other than that everything was great we will be back.

I work at south coast plaza so there isn't much choice for people like me who want affordable, fast food to go. I usually order boudins or corner bakery, but I decided to change it up a little and get claim jumper for a change: I only get a hour lunch like most people do so I walked into claim jumpers to place a to go order. Took someone 5 minutes to acknowledge me ( minus one star) I ordered the grilled chicken pasta which is on their takeout menu. Waited 10 nineties. The hostess calls me up and asks me if I ordered a chicken Alfredo... No I ordered the grilled chicken pasta. And her exact words were " I don't think we have that.. Nope we don't have that anymore it's not on my computer screen for me to place the order".... Ok. So no apology or explanation why it's on the menu but not being served? I order the shrimp pasta. Wait another 15 minutes. I take my lunch downstairs to my work since now I only have about 25 min to eat. The shrimp was breaded and soggy. The pasta was ok. I didn't touch half my food ($17 pasta? Not worth it) kinda disappointed. Was expecting a much better experience and hoping for a new place to spend my lunch breaks. Back to boudins it is!

Yo, this restaurant is like a yo-yo. I've been here about ten times in the last five years. Sometimes it's really good, sometimes it's like Donna Summer's disco hit Last Dance, "when I'm bad, I'm so, so bad!" Once my ribs came out burnt, and sent it back. But the whole party was half way done before I got a "nice rack". Once we had screaming pre-teens in the next table, and another time they got our order wrong. This time, though, they were good. Clam Humper, as my friends amiably call them, was in the news for recently filing Chapter 11. They give mass quantities of food, perfect for a football player. But they keep increasing their prices like a lady player. Their most recent menu seems more streamlined than years past. And they've buried their befallen corporate mining marketing materials. Still, this location is the same as it was...loud and airy, with lots of wood, a huge bar, and ample parking located next to Sears at South Coast Plaza. And if you select an item that they prepare well, it' can be really good. I had the Whiskey Glazed chicken ($14) over stuffing, a huge hot biscuit wit honey butter, mashed potatoes, and roasted, sweetened vegetables. It was a little too sweet for my taste, but overall good. The veggies were great, oven roasted in butter and a little sugar, cooked lightly to preserve crispness, I wish Marie Callenders, Mimi's, and other places that just microwave their out of the package veggies. I had their beer flight which had 6 oz. of red ale, pale ale, and hefeweizen for $6. A semi dry white wine would've been a better accompaniment. A friend had their salmon filet ($20) which was fresh, blackened, and not dry overcooked. It came with vegetables and baked potato, and was reportedly excellent. Another friend, who tends to eat burgers, likes theirs a lot. though that's all the feedback I got. A lot of people in the neighboring tables were drinking strawberry lemonade, I'll have to try that next time. We'll be back if they're still around..Hopefully the yo yo stabilizes into the good side. But this being early November, that won't be for several months down the road. I avoid all shopping malls until way after New Year's.

Food was ok for price. Nothing special about the place. Our waiter was great and 3 stars are for him. The cleanliness of a restaurants bathroom says everything about a place. Claim Jumper failed miserably!!! Floor in women's bathroom stalls were disgusting; wet, paper on floor and stunk like gas station restroom. Saw several reviews about utensils being dirty when unwrapped out of napkin, sure enough my knife was, never been a fan of CJ. Wont be returning.

When most people think of Claim Jumper, they think of it as just another chain, serving massive portions to overweight Americans and the like with such staples as their famous chocolate mother-lode cake. I personally really like Claim Jumper and think it is one of the better chain restaurants around. Every time I come here, I always wind up ordering their lunch-size mini pizza and Caesar salad. It's a simple meal that they execute perfectly and it always hits the spot. Service has never been an issue for me here, I've been lucky to have received consistently good service whenever I've dined at this location. They've also recently changed and jazzed up their menu and have some interesting new dishes. I tried something a couple days ago called a rattler or something? It was an appetizer platter of whole shrimp and cheese stuffed into large jalapeños and deep fried; basically, a jalapeño popper with a shrimp in it. Bad for one's diet, but delicious! Try their French onion soup, too. Really good with so much gooey cheese... and let's not forget their extensive drink menu - this is the place to go for a good cocktail! Eff it, I'm just a huge fan of Claim Jumper!

This is perhaps the least impressive Claim Jumper in the OC area that I have been to. I was severely disappointed with the garlic cheese bread that they served me. This is a staple and signature item for this brand and it should be done right, but the last few times I have had it at this location, it was a poor representation. This is due to the lack of cheese on the bread. The menu might be the same, but the execution is really sub-par. The onion rings were also mediocre. Their mix of the breading was off a little and it was apparent in the flavor and texture of the crunch of the rings. This has to be the fault of management at this location for not maintaining consistency in the execution of their recipes. This is sad, because it's at South Coast Plaza and you would expect more, not less. You would be better served going to the location on 17th street for a better experience and truer representation of Claim Jumper.

Food and service is always standard at a place like this. There is no "wow" factor, but you always know the food will be good. It reminds me of Cheesecake Factory but lower quality food.

happy hour schmappy hour, cut the bullshit hows the food? Baby back ribs=decent, not great clam chowder=very good but too salty all that was had so all I can comment on...side order I chose potato pancakes....these are quite interesting for the adventurous...edges crisp brown golden like has browns, centers were filler with a nasty garlic cream that was cold...order these without any filling, if possible. value---not too bad. and a diverse menu.

I would give this place 4 stars, but they no longer have the gravy anymore, and that just a BIG NO NO! I'll explain that a little bite more in a second. When I come here, the only thing that I really wanna get and crave for is their widow maker burger. This is the best burger because it's perfect. Starting with the juicy, well cooked patty, then some avocado on top adding some creaminess, and then topped with fried onion ring for the crunch. On the side, you get to choose french fries, fruits, or mash potatoes. Now, here's where the problem started. Today, I was craving for some of their mash potatoes with gravy with my burger., but there was none available. I love love love love good gravy, like the ones that Claim Jumper used to make. Seriously, I would take gravy shots if I can. When the waitress brought me my burger and mash potatoes without gray, I asked her "Excuse me, may I please have some gray please." Waitress replied, "I'm sorry, we no longer serve gravy with our mash potato." WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? How that be? How do you eat mash potatoes without gravy? This just isn't right. As for the rest of the food here, here's a few things I ordered and the rating on it: cobb salad, which has a rating of 4/5, claim chowder, which has a rating of 4/5, corn bread, which is the best corn bread ever 5/5, a apple cobbler 4/5, and their warm toffee cake 5/5.

This Claim Jumper is most definitely one of the popular locations at South Coast Plaza. Over 300 customers on a Thursday lunchtime rush from 11:30am until 1:30pm today. There is a main bridge that connects local businesses to Claim Jumper and the mall. Very good energy flow here today and the result is many satisfied customers. The food here is good and service is good but not outstanding like at Morton's Steakhouse also in Costa Mesa. There was three servers on the patio area today and inside was very busy with so many customers. They were slow in getting the orders out on time and in correct order as given by guests. Overall I got the impression that customers were happy and satisfied with the food and service. I definitely have to return for happy hour specials time and see what happens at night time to get a real picture of this Claim Jumper. I will most likely refer my friends and family to come and try out the Claim Jumper whenever they are in the Costa Mesa area or shopping at South Coast Plaza. Have a beautiful and sunny day today and remember that Love makes everything taste Amazing and Delightful!!

My friends and I used to come here a lot after a long day of shopping at South Coast Plaza. I remember I stopped going though because my friend actually got food poisoning from here. Over the years, I feel like the quality of food has just gotten horrible here and there are so many other better restaurants you can go to. Anyways, I always stuck with one or two things on the menu. Mainly their giant stuffed baked potato. I've never had a problem with it. Always hot, loaded with vegetables, and whatever else you get on it. It's good and filling but really it's just a huge potato. Nothing special. 3/5

Man, I miss Birraporetti's.... Ill first say this place does have a great bar, and happy hour. They have a great selection in appetizers, and good drink specials. The restaurant is another story... I live 5 minutes from the mall and used to eat here often, but I wont be back after this last visit. The place has taken a turn for the worse over the years, and all after Landry Select has taken over the company. ( I have heard the same about Mortons Steak House) We went in around 8:30pm on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was not very busy. We were seated at a spacious booth by a polite hostess. We waited for about 5 minutes before our server approached the table. To start, Our server had ZERO personality, and I mean none. He approached our table of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) and stood there for a second placing coasters and staring at us, instead of greeting us, and introducing himself. Then he finally said "Can I get you something to drink?" Greeting tables properly should be the first thing you are taught... We ordered appetizers and my 3 year old daughters food first. (taking care of the child's food first is always taught as a priority) The apps came out and were good. (Hot wings, and Fried Zucchini) But before we were half way through with them, our food arrived. Nothing is more annoying to me then food being brought on top of appetizers. What is the point if you can enjoy them first? And my daughters pasta had still not arrived early as I requested. This dish should take 5 minutes max, especially on a slow night. The people that brought the food did not ask us if we needed anything, nor did they bother to assist in picking up any dirty plates, which is now a cluttered mess with apps and dinner all squeezed on it. We quickly finished the apps so we could try and enjoy our dinner. My daughters dinner arrived last... I ordered the Ribeye steak, med-rare and requested the Blue Cheese with Peppers and Onion add on for an additional charge. My steak was a disaster to look at. It had a mound of what I think was caramelized onions (cold, slimy, over cooked) and topped with some type of butter. NO bleu cheese, NO peppers and onions. I was starving...I pushed them off and cut into the steak. The steak was medium well, not med rare. Our server nor anyone was no where to be found. I was so hungry I started eating. I had to ask another server for a iced tea refill, and they were nice enough to take away our app plates and give us some room. Im just about finished with my steak when our server comes to the table and asks if we need anything. I tell him no, its been handled by his teammates, and then mention my steak was not what I ordered. He had a very clueless look on his face when I said there was no blue cheese or peppers, but I was too hungry to wait to get another steak made correctly. "Sorry bout that" he said with little concern. It was that sense of "I dont really care" attitude that pissed me off. After our plates were cleared, he comes with the check not even offering dessert. I tell him, thanks, we were going to go out for Ice Cream for dessert anyway. (Han's Ice Cream is amazing, and right around the corner FYI) Once again, cluless look on our servers face. He then tosses sets an advertisement and tells us to check out the Landry's Select Dinner Club, and tries to get us to sign up. Yeah right Pal... After working in the industry for +20 years, I have to say it takes a lot for me NOT to tip 20% even for sub par service. If the food was better, it may have helped out, but not in this case. After a few disappointing trips, and this one being my last, I am over it... Its obvious they dont care, or you would see some type of response from the management on here.

Potato Cheddar soup is a flavorful soup with fresh baked potatoes and simmered with aged cheddar. The first spoonful was wonderful. It was creamy with strong cheddar and potato flavors. Upon closer examination, I noticed that it used carrots for color. Since I'm allergic to carrots, I had to send it back. This should be noted on the menu as I otherwise would not have ordered it. If it didn't have carrots in it, I would have feverishly devoured it. In its place, I got the New England Clam Chowder which has premium clams, potatoes, onions and celery. It wasn't nearly as creamy as the Potato Cheddar soup and it was a mediocre chowder at best. Southwest Eggrolls are filled with fresh chicken, cilantro, black beans, pasilla & bell peppers, fried to a golden brown, and served with sweet & spicy and salsa ranch dipping sauces. We have seen this before at other restaurants and its mediocre just like the rest. Stick to the basics with homemade favorites that fit with the Claim Jumper theme. Hill Country Salad is chunks of lightly fried chicken & grated mixed cheese on a bed of crisp greens with tomatoes, bacon, eggs & croutons tossed with ranch or honey mustard dressing. It is a fairly simple dish that you could make at home except for maybe popcorn-style chicken and cornbread croutons. Chicken was very tasty and croutons were very nice surprise. Unfortunately, the rest of the salad was decidedly mediocre. Fish & Chips is hand-dipped in beer-batter, served with homemade tartar sauce and salt & pepper shoestring fries. These were way too greasy and made the fish soggy inside. The fish needed to rest and drain a bit before plating. On the upside, the chips were perfectly cooked and were especially tasty paired with their ranch dressing. Porterhouse Steak is two steaks in one - 20 oz. USDA Choice bone-in NY strip and filet. The first one was overcooked, medium to medium well when it was supposed to be medium rare so it was sent back. The second one was still overcooked to a medium, but it was determined to be edible. For almost $30, it should really be cooked to the guest's specification. This cut gets rubbery, tough, and chewy the longer it is cooked. Due to these preparation issues, the manager ended up comping this meal, but I really don't feel I can accurately rate the steak at this point. The roasted vegetables were perfectly cooked and seasoned, firm and sweet. The Three Cheese Potatocakes were interesting. They are prepared like a crab cakes, but the inside is made of tender potatoes and cheese. They are good, but really filling with all the potatoes and breaded coating. It might be better as a loaded mashed potato instead. It was an interesting concept though. Original Scratch Carrot Cake is three layers of subtly spiced carrot cake, generously covered with cream cheese frosting. This carrot cake is okay, not the best I've ever had but certainly not the worst. The cream cheese frosting is creamy and decadent. The cake itself was okay, but just didn't have enough flavor to put it over the top.

I went here with my family and gf for a double-birthday celebration dinner. Here's a simple breakdown: FOOD: The food is average. - The salad that comes with the entrees are flavorless and chopped really rough. Not very appetizing. - The cheesy-garlic bread is pretty good! Try not to fill up on them, 'cuz they're not small. - The entrees are a decent size, but not huge. My family of five (none of us are big people) pretty much finished our entrees. No leftovers whatsoever. They're enough to fill you up, but if they were huge like some people are saying, we'd have some leftovers. I finished my half rack of pork rib and beef rib combo plate and did not feel stuffed...but I was satisfied. The flavor is decent. My gf's ribs had no sauce on it, for some reason. So, she had to ask for extra sauce. I grew up on Claim Jumper, and I remember it being a big deal to go there! We'd always get huge portions on huge plates and took home big boxes of delicious leftovers. Not this time. The portions were just decent and the food was mediocre. Maybe they've changed things, or got bought out. SERVICE: The service is average. Not bad, but not stellar. Just average. However, even if we thought the food was okay...and the service was okay...something left a very sour taste in our mouths at the end of the evening. Claim Jumpers really needs to rethink their policy on how to handle birthdays. My dad and I were both wearing "Happy Birthday" pins on our shirts. The waitress noticed them and asked what they were, to which we replied, "Oh, they're birthday pins." At the end of our meal, the waitress brought a couple of birthday cupcakes. They were small red velvet cupcakes. Bear in mind that we never solicited this, or even brought our birthdays to her attention except when she asked about our pins. In any case, when we got our bill, she charged us $3 for each birthday cupcake! Who charges for a birthday cupcake when it wasn't even ordered!?? Usually, when a restaurant brings a birthday dessert without it being actually ordered, it's on the house and a friendly gesture. That last thing just turned me off to an already average establishment. With so many other great restaurants to go to, Claim Jumpers has disappointed me a bit. When the last thing you remember about a restaurant experience is how you feel you got conned, that's probably not a good impression to be left with. Claim Jumpers used to be a unique experience, but now, it's just like any other average American-style restaurant.

It has been many years since I walked into a Claim Jumpers. The portions are not as big as back in the late 1990 where one meal will feed me for 3 days. Entrees use to come with 2 side I think...Sorry its a blur now. Portions are still pretty big. I had the Top Sirloin steak cooked to perfection- med rare with veggies. These use to come with a bread like garlic bread, muffin, ect. This came with a side salad also. All the food was very good. Service was great and friendly. Ambiance was fun, and surprisingly the acoustics for such a large place with so many people in it was great! I didnt have to yell or sound like a old person constantly going "huh..." Ill be back.

Normally, Claim Jumper has great service and is a regular place for me and my girlfriend to grab some grub during football season (Sundays are all day happy hour). I'm reviewing my most recent visit which was terrible. I ordered some food online (a small cheese pizza, six wings, and a salad) and was told my food would be ready in 15 minutes. I got to claim jumper about 20 minutes later and saw a to-go bag and naturally assumed it could be my food and I was right. I walked up to ask the cashier if it was in fact my food and I was told to wait in line. I finally got to the front of the line and was then told to speak with the cashier (can you see where this is going?) Once someone came over to "help" me I was told my pizza and salad were ready, but my wings were not. After being asked by 4 employees (including a manager) if I'd been helped (and about 30 minutes later) my wings were done! However, now I had cold pizza, a warm salad, and hot wings. I asked if I was supposed to eat my pizza cold and salad warm and was told they could make me another pizza and salad, but I didn't want cold wings... it was really sad and a terrible experience from a customer service stand point. I will stick to my sunday ritual of all day happy hour, but it's doubtful I'll ever order online from them again.

The service was really slow, we felt like we were bothering and inconveniencing our server Nicole. Her attention to detail was just a bit lacking. Even up to the point where our meals were served we still didn't have silverware. Sorry if we made her work, she obviously doesn't work for tips. We were a party of 6 people who enjoy cocktails with our meal, the disappointment of what seemed to be watered down drinks caused us to call the manager. He explained each drink is measured and was sorry but added some extra alcohol in two of the 6 drinks. The main course of food was good as usual with the exception of the waterlogged squash served with the rotisserie chicken and the wrinkled string beans with stems attached served with the fish. How hard is it to serve fresh steamed vegetables without their stems and ends? The manager graciously bought us a dessert. Well appreciated gesture considering our $225.00 bill. I think what bothered us most was that we could have chosen any restaurant in the area (and there are MANY) to enjoy an afternoon with our friends ...sadly we chose Claim Jumper. Unfortunate for Claim Jumper, we are all Yelp bloggers with a bunch of friends who listen to what we say and as you know...I am always right :)

Quality of the food was fine but the menu is boring; reads like hotel/tourist food which must be because of its location. My dinner was served 10 mins before my husband's and husband received wrong dinner which had to be returned. Server was gracious but the dull menu, hotel vibe made us decide that we will not return.

I don't mind paying for an expensive meal but I do expect to get what I pay for. I had the sample appetizer which looked like it was sitting out for hours and tasted as stale as it looked. Then I had "the favorite" tenderloin tips which tasted a day old and left a disgusting taste in my mouth. I also tried the chicken pot pie which seemed like it was bought from the super market. It was obvious that it was a frozen then cooked. I've been to other claim jumpers and have not ever been this disappointed. On a good note my server was nice and the fruit wasn't bad.

I had not been to a Claim Jumper in eons so this weekend during a lovely overnight trip to Costa Mesa, before heading to a show, the hubs and I decided to give in a whirl. We go there at 5pm and the happy hour was hoppin! We opted for a dining room table and had a very friendly and attentive server. She was quick getting us our drinks and checked in often. Now the best part, the food. We ordered the stuffed BBQ shrimp which was delightful (you can't beat bacon, shrimp, and cream cheese) and we each ordered our own entree. I got the simple grilled chicken (sadly I have started dieting. Tear.) and the husband ordered the seasonal special tortellini which was a cheese tortellini with an Absolute vodka cream sauce that had bacon (!!) and Parmesan in it. My entree was way less fancy but still delicious. The chicken was ever so slightly overcooked which equaled dry but my husbands excess sauce fixed that. The smashed potatoes were great as were the grilled veggies that came with it. My husbands dish was of course, amazing and incredibly tasty. Stupid diet. Warning: they have LARGE portions here so come with your appetite or share! They have some great dessert choices but we were way to full to try any.

Loud, busy, bar-like. Not bad. Nice hostess. Easy seating. Took forever to get served though. Just went for dessert. The chocolate motherlode cake. Wow that's all I can say. It's a must share item. I posted a pic. That thing is enormous!

after walking around south coast plaza, the sun was still out and i just wanted to grab a drink. an alcoholic drink. luckily, we made it just in time for happy hour. must admit, on paper the happy hour deals sound pretty legit. once received however, you realize they really are much better on paper. i ordered two long islands for 4 dollas each, and it felt like i was drinking juice. where's the alcohol?! sad to say, none could be found as i walked out more sober than i had walked in from the endless salsa and chips that had now started settling in my belly. food wise, i can't really say. all we got were the chips and salsa. but the sliders and wings looked pretty bomb and they were hella cheap. i shall return to try out the sliders and wings.!

I've been to other Claim Jumpers and as a chain they're pretty average, but a nice place to chill/gorge yourself on too much food. I'm not really a shopper so this was my first visit to this specific CJ. While the food is what I expect I'd say our server had a failboat of a meal. This CJ is in South Coast so I can see it as an awesome place to grab some snacks and drinks during happy hour after a laborious day of spending way too much money with retail therapy. We had just finished some shopping to upgrade my wardrobe and my sis's friend mentioned she was going to grab dinner at CJ so we decide to meet at this one since it's in the mall. My sister's friends order their food and we aren't too hungry so we get apps and share an entree. Drinks come promptly as well as the first refill. We got the fried zucchini appetizer and it's good, but I think smaller than at the CJ's by my house. Must be the South Coast location. Next up the food comes and we notice that our salad, bread, and soup have not come yet. We ask about it and off he goes to check. He comes back with the soup and salad and takes the soup off the check. We remind him about the bread which now comes. We get some sauces for our meal and ask for ketchup. He then asks us if we want ranch to which we say no thanks...and he's back...with ranch and asks if there's anything else we need. We say ketchup and I need another refill at this point. Dessert is ordered and we get our check...only it's not our check. I get our actual check and notice he's taken the drinks and soup off the order. So the place is decent food and has a pretty convenient location and I think service can't always suck this bad. I think that server was just off his game that day.

Their food is not great but their service is fantastic. If you're stuck in the area and want go to somewhere that everyone can find something, I might still go here. All of their recipes need to be seriously tweaked. I had the spinach artichoke dip which was runny and tasteless with more of a weak Alfredo sauce consistency, lacking a solid parmesan cheese element. I also had their French onion soup which was salty (but as I was hungry, I finished it). The manager took the French onion soup off my tab, even though I said I'd pay for it since I had eaten the whole thing. He was not an asshole at all about it. If you have guests and are looking for a middle-class restaurant, I'd look for the nearest Cheesecake Factory and go there instead.

Ok I like Claim Jumpers overall. I wanted salad and I was going to get the salad bar but this location doesn't have the salad bar like most do. So I ordered the chicken citrus salad. I was expecting a big salad that would be a challenge to finish, knowing Claim Jumper portions. It was not very big. I was pretty disappointed. Just did not make me want to return.

My friend suggested this place for my birthday dinner. I ordered the widow maker burger for my dinner, it was absolutely delicious. I don't know if this is a well known thing but the term widow maker in medical terms relates to a heart attack. Still can't believe I ordered it knowing what the name meant.. But hey I could have had a heart attack from it being so good! The drinks weren't my favorite, way too strong, which I know most people would probably like. I asked for some extra pineapple juice in order to drink it lol. The service was actually good when I went so no complaints there. I'll prob be back, the atmosphere was nice and seemed to have a good vibe to it :).

Yes, I'm writing a review for a chain restaurant, but after having been here at least a dozen times in the last year or so I feel a need to give this place a shout out. The dining room is huge, the bar area is big. Big enough to seat my humongous family for many, many cousin dinners and even a happy hour or two. It takes reservations. This is an enormous plus, as finding a restaurant that will accomodate 20 or more people for dinner is not easy. The menu is large and accommodates my 3-year old's tastebuds for macaroni 'n cheese, my teenage cousins craving for a good burger, and provides the adults a wide-ranging menu from ribs to meatloaf to hearty soups to an amazingly flavorful ahi salad. We have many adventurous eaters in our family and I'm sure many would like to try the newest, hot spot when we get together... we often do just that in smaller groups, but the newest korean fusion taco/distilled coffee/bacon-flavored/crawfish/locavore shack next to the gas station would never be able to fit us all in. We need a place that will fit us all without having to wait until 9p.m. to eat and that, my friends, is the local Claim Jumper!

Food was good. I got a pizza and chicken wings. Both were good, if overpriced (but that's expected). Why 2 stars then? My server was incompetent. Possibly overworked. Over 15 minutes to get our first round of drinks after ordering! Nothing special, only beers. 15 minutes. Really? Another 10 minutes after that, he came back to tell one of my friends that his order was not possible since they were out. A restaurant of this supposed caliber out of something by 8pm? That's pretty bad. And it took that long to come back and tell us? Then an hour (!) later, we finally get our food. By now it's 9pm. There aren't that many people as it's a freaking Tuesday night. Why does it take an hour? Yeah, our groups kind of big. But a group of 8 should not shut down the kitchen. I'm sure it's better when they have their A-Level staff on a busier night. But for my experience, a pretty crappy review for a pretty crappy experience. The food saves it from a 1. Seriously--hire some better staff. Get this kid who's asking for my ID when he looks like he doesn't even shave a busboy job and hire some decent servers.

I usually have lunch here during happy hours.. Which is good with the amount of money in my pocket.. We just have to sit in the bar area. People tend to sit there for awhile. So sometimes I don't go there because the wait is a little long. Over all service is great they usually fast on serving us.

Came here after being parched from shopping on Veteran's Day. What better way to quench your thirst than with a pint of beer for $3!! Happy Hour lured us in for sure. Beers were ice cold and didn't disappoint. Food however, took FOREVER to come. We waited at least 30 minutes before asking our server to check on our food. I think they forgot about it. On top of that, food came out wrong. What a disappointment. Tri Tip Sliders - nothing like I remembered it to be. The beef looked more like a roast beef and they put this chipotle sauce all over it. Ok, but not the great slider I remembered from years ago. Pulled Pork tacos - again, nothing great. decent tasting, but the tortilla was dry. The server's description of this taco was completely inaccurate. Overall, I'd say the prices were good, but the food was average and service was almost bad. Good thing by the end, our server went on a break and someone new, who was way more attentive and friendlier, helped us out.

Not a busy lunch hour considering it's the last weekend to shop for Christmas. Receptionist was blah. The girl who seated us has no expression on her face, didn't even bother asking how we are doing. I showed my VIP Landry club card to our server and he said to keep it coz he might misplace it. That's not the point. Of all Landry Club affiliated restaurants that we go to, the manager would stop by the table and greet us..And this review is based only the first 10 minutes of our dining experience. First impression is very important, so far this establishment failed!

I been to a few Claim Jumper's around. I must say that this was the best porterhouse steak I've ever ordered. I went there on a Saturday night, after 7pm, and was seated immediately. My server was nice and checked on me a few times. It was all good for me. The Porterhouse was medium rare, nicely seasoned, and juicy. My side of green beans was inconsistently cooked, but had a nice favor and still tasted good. My side of fried mac&cheese was a little dry, but edible. My point is if you want steak, go for the porterhouse! Yum yum!

The food is great. Went twice this week with friends. Review includes bites of friends' food. Chicken Pot Pie: Excellent (took half home b/c 2400cals in one sitting is scary) Steak Chili bowl: Excellent Mint Mud Pie: Excellent Porterhouse(rare and bloody as hell like it should be): Excellent Gin/Vodka Martini: Excellent Service: Overall, very slow. Really hurt the place. First time this week was little past 5 on Friday, so it was understandably slow because there were lots of people. The other time was 11:30 before many people were there on a weekday. Half the place was empty yet it was still slow. Looked like staff was missing. No one was around to help. I've been to other locations around there and the service was much better with the same quality of food. Hence this location gets 3 stars.

Mediocre food, horrible service. FOOD Loaded Potato Skins Its basically a potato carved out, filled with bacon and topped with cheese; sounds amazing right? This dish really disappointed me, the potatoes werent even crispy like they're supposed to be and the bacon was super hard, not crispy. And the cheese tasted like mexican triblend, and did not tie the dish together as it should; Ive had this appetizer before at other places, and it tasted a lot better, this dish tasted like something I made in less than 10 mins..which was probably the case. Tenderloin Beef Tips with a mushroom glace, mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables ( ~$15) The consisted of the beef mushroom glace over mashed potatoes with roasted veggies on the side. The beef tips were good and tendor but there were literally 5 pieces of beef and 15 mushrooms which is not worth the money. The mushroom glace was also VERY salty, I personally LOVE salty foods but this dish was way too much for me. The mashed potatoes were nothing special, just regular old mashed potatoes. And for some reason, the roasted veggies also tasted salty even though they didnt touch the glace. Motherload Cake (~$10) The mother load is a 6 layer chocolate fudge cake; it's pretty rich and chocolately. The cake itself was alright, a bit dry and I wished it had more frosting but its something you order to try rather than to actually enjoy. SERVICE Came here on a Friday night at 9PM , left around 11 PM. Sounds reasonable for a Saturday night right? No, not when the restaurant is less than 1/4 full ( probably 10 other parties with less than 5 ppl ) .Our waitress took a really long time to bring out our food, probably about an hour. Yes we had a table of around 8 but upon tasting my food, Im pretty sure it didnt take that long to cook, nor did it take that long to cook my friends' food too. Dessert took like 30 mins, when Im sure they have most of the items, they jst have to slab some ice cream onto the brownie and cut a slice of cake and bring it over. Keep in mind that the restaurant was less than 1/4 full. What was even worse was that she took FOREVER to bring out our checks and by this point, it was only us and about 2 other parties in the entire restaurant! ANDD to make it worse, she took about 45 mins to ring us up even the majority of us paid with cash. WITH A RESTAURANT WITH ONLY 3 PARTIES, I SHOULD BE ABLE TO EXPECT TO BE IN AND OUT IN A MATTER OF 20 MINS !!! Honestly, I thought I love Claim Jumper but apparently, I only like the FV location. Even though this location is much closer to me, the food is not worth the wait; food gets about 2.5 ( 3 stars if I was rating the cake by itself) and service gets a 0. I'd rather trek to the FV location or walk across the mall to Vie de France than come back here.

I'm going to give Claim Jumper 5 stars because their food is simply amazing. The portions are huge and they have excellent customer service, no matter which location you go to. I've been to CJ restaurants all over but this one has to be the most impressive. It has a very large and spacious floor plan and their bar is bigger than most that you'll find in other CJs!! The southwestern egg rolls, which are one of their newer menu items, are delicious, I love their BBQ Chicken sandwiches with skinny fries and a side of ranch!! yum!! The sandwich is so big so you willl have leftovers and it tastes even better the next day!!! I also love their blackened chicken pasta! They have a large selection of alcoholic beverages and they can accommodate really big parties very easily! On weekeneds you can expect a very crazy wait. Families love to eat here! This is a western themed restaurant so that gives you a bit of an idea of the type of decor they have! All their desserts are yummy and prices are reasonable here. Indulge!

Been here a million times never had a problem. Tonight (8/2/2013) I order a porterhouse medium rare...it comes out medium well. The line manager then brings the plate back out to my table and asks if I'm sure it's not right...showing me the steak at my table...implying i'm either dumb or blind. with a sarcastic tone he says fine i will cook another one. they cook another one bring it out and its barely grey on the top and COLD inside... Wtf is going on here?! Server was great but manager was WAY OUT OF LINE UPDATE- after complaining to a different manager claim jumper has offered to "cook me the best porterhouse I've had". lets hope the same line manager isn't sending out the food

I commend the wait staff for being exceptionally quick, friendly and showing that they want to make you a happy customer. The food on the other hand is second to none one of the worst meals that I have had in a long time. I ordered a calzone. I love Italian cuisine. This was large and not all the way cooked through. I was hungry form a long day and ate about 1/3 before calling it quits. I went for the inside ingredients. But the crust was horrible. My two other dinner guests thought it was another place with no passion in the kitchen. The drinks were good. There are other great places to eat in OC. This is not one of them.

Came here after shopping around South Coast Plaza. Our waiter was extremely nice and took care of us. I had the country Fried Steak and it was delicious! Mashed Potatoes were very good as well. Definitely will becoming to dine here again!

THEY CHANGED THE MENU! I used to like Claim Jumper for its wide selection of foods: pastas, barbecue, fish and chip. It was a bit pricey, but the portions were huge, enough for two meals (leftovers for breakfast anyone?). I was very sad when I came here the other day and saw the menu change. Now it's just some typical BJ/Cheesecake Factory American style restaurant with food that doesn't stand out. I liked when the restaurant was more Gold Rush themed, even though it's not very "classy" for this location, and it had Gold Rush themed food. I shared the mozzarella sticks for appetizer and a California Works pizza. You're definitely better off at CPK for the pizza instead. The new Claim Jumper pizza tasted like the ones at BJs, except with too much onions and leaving me with intense onion breath. The portions are smaller and the prices are lower, but the new Claim Jumper did not have the zest that it had before. Probably not going to return.

Worst experience ever! We showed up during happy hour. After waiting for 15 minutes we asked someone to get our server. We saw him go over and laughed about us waiting. When it got to 10 minutes left of happy hour my husband got up and went to the bar and ordered out food. At 7:01 our server finally came by and said "sorry we don't know when new people sit down" when I brought up how the other server told him. He said sorry, rolled his eyes and turned around and ignored us!!!! It was the worst attitude ever. I have personally never been treated like this. I spoke with the manager was the only one that gave any sort of customer service. He seemed really sorry and concerned. He took over our table personally. We only ordered a drink each and an appetizer, but the manager ended up comping our bill to say sorry. There is a current negativity that came from 3 of the servers that worked the bar area. I hope that they change their attitude real quick.

Stopped in here on a Monday for lunch. Service was poor and slow. First we ordered drinks and ended up waiting almost 20 minutes for a mojito and a mai tai. I had a pepperoni calzone which was pretty good, but also took a while to get. The server we had wasn't very polite from the get-go and also managed to mess up my friends order. Maybe because it was Monday, or maybe it was because it was lunch time, but the service was slow enough that I most certainly wouldn't go back.

So in my who knows what number visit to claim jumper I ordered the Country fried steak... but it was different- The breading was tempura like-big and not right...potatoes the same- biscuit thick and almost unswallowable. Salad with blue cheese was yum, but hardly a meal defining piece. I did the happy hour and had a double barrell for 4.30...deal

Even though I've considered myself a foodie, Claim Jumpers has always been my achiles heel. I know it's a chain restaurant, but shit, they made some bomb tri tips. Not this time. It has been a few years since I've visited a Claim Jumper and I was all too excited to try their potato cheesecakes and their tri tips again. Sigh. So much for my optimistic view of chain restaurants. The potato cakes have definitely changed... for the worse. It used to have a perfect blend of potatoes and hcheese and was deep fried to gbd perfection. This time... it was wayyyy too cheesy. Don't get me wrong, I love my cheese... but it tasted more like I was eating a mozzarella stick (differnet cheese though) than a potato cheese cake. The tri tips.............. were bland! No!!! Claim Jumper was what made me fall in love with Tri tips. Is it because my homemade tri tips are that much better? It can't be... I've had it at many other restaurants and they were amazing...! Did they drop the ball today? Maybe... But i'll never know... because I'm not coming back :(

It is our family tradition that during Christmas holiday shopping we stop by claim jumper and have dinner and dessert. We were quite disappointed this time and NOT by the service or atmosphere BUT by our food. We are a party of 6 and we ordered our food. The Atlantic Salmon, BBQ Chicken pizza, Calamari and child's spaghetti were o.k. but the Adult BBQ Chicken salad, Adults half rack beef ribs and the children's pork ribs were a little less than what we expected. The chicken on the salad was so dry that after the first bite which took me a while to swallow (with the help of my drink) I took all the chicken off. The adult rib and children's rib were just burnt out right. The children didn't even take a bite after the first bite. I thought it was maybe too much BBQ sauce but after taking it off the bone I realized no it is just burnt. After spending over $130 we left and I had to take the kids elsewhere to eat dinner because the were starving. I am truly disappointed in this. Sad to see the food is really loosing its quality :( Guess we need to find another restaurant to make a part of our family tradition.

Currently sitting at Claim Jumper, as I write this review. After a day of shopping, stomachs rumbling, last thing I want to do is wait around for our server. It wasn't too busy, lots of empty tables. Took 15 minutes for our beer to arrive. The 3 adjacent tables next to us all arrived after we did and got their drinks before us. Apparently our server cut his finger and had to patch it up. But stop at the table and let us know instead of mumbling it as you walk past our table. Drinks finally arrived, we were ready to order, but he walks away from our table. My boyfriend and I were looking around the restaurant to see where he was so that we could place our order, but he was no where to be found. Another 15 minutes had passed before our server came back to take our orders. Keep in mind that we watching him walk past our table multiple times with a very unpleasant expression on his face. He looked like he did not want to be here. Finally got our orders placed. Thinking an appetizer and two burgers shouldn't take too long to arrive. Boy were we wrong. Our burgers arrived after the table that ordered 3 steaks. We though maybe our appetizers got botched and were going to come in a little bit. Kept eating, server never bothered to check on our table until we were done eating. Appetizers never arrived, we were looking forward to the mozzarella sticks and zucchini. At this time we are waiting for our check, the 3 tables I mentioned before that arrived after us have already paid and left. We finally receive our check, only to see that our appetizers were never placed in the system. We were ready to just walk out. Before even getting a chance to pay, he reaches over to grab the check. No! Never reach across a guest. Nevertheless we paid our tab, but needless to say Eric is not getting a tip. His etiquette is not suited for the restaurant business. He looked unhappy and annoyed. No sense of urgency and was casually walking around while other servers were busting their butts. Questionable if we would return to this location, don't want to run the risk of having him as our server again. Our widow maker burger and the hickory bbq burger were pretty good. But not worth the bad service.

  • Austin B.

I ordered the widow maker burger, my wife ordered a loaded baked potato. Both tasted good, and seemed to be prepared well, but both were room temp. Service was ok, we got refills, but considering that the place was pretty empty, we shouldn't have had a cup less than 1/3 full. I'd give it another chance since it tasted good, but I want my meal to come out hot.

the only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is cuz of their slow poke service&the only reason they're getting 3 stars is becuz of their delicious food!! everyone's super nice (of course they are, they're not in L.A.!) &friendly&helpful, butttt even on a slow mid afternoon on a sun, when the place was empty&servers were plenty&idle, our server just took forever coming to us&we had to wait about 25 mins to get our drinks (by the way, he never brought us waters, AT ALLLL- so the whole time we just had to stick with our iced tea&soda) or utensils/napkins/plates argh!! so we were eating our greasy cheese bread (which he brought out pretty fast, which is delicious by the way- all warm&toasty but doughy in middle) with nothing to wipe on&were getting crumbs&cheese bits all over ourselves&the table...anyhoo, when wet put in the order for an appetiser, it came out pretty fast (along with our utensils&plates finally!), but after dropping it off, our server disappeared again!! the place was still soooooo empty so we didn't get it- it was between lunch&dinner hours&all these servers were idle&just standing around watching TV or talking to each other but none of them would make eye contact with us for fear of having to get us something (!?) I think, so I had to wave my arm&kinda yell "excuse me" to anyone who would listen. &so this one guy comes over&I tell him we're ready to order entrees&that we would like refills on drinks. &he goes off to fetch our sever but nobody shows up, so we're sitting there with no water, empty drinks, trying to find where our server went. &the thing is, i couldn't believe how yummy their tropical iced tea was!! I always order tropical iced tea wherever I go, so I'm used to what they normally taste like...butttt their iced tea was especially good cuz it had some extra zing to it (??) so I drank it all when it came out so I def needed a refill. &my friend needed more soda. but we couldn't find our server. so i went to the restroom&soon later, our server shows up&so we finally order entrees&ask for more bread. needless to say, the bread came WAY after our entrees even tho i saw other servers take bread to tables nxt to us so it wasn't like they didn't have any- our server just didn't bring us OURS!? anyhoo, i get my entree&I'm a condiments freak&i especially need more BBQ sauce when I'm having BBQ. &i had a full (not half) portion of the BBQ combo plate (forgot what it was called) with 3 diff meats, so i def asked for more sauce, asking them to please bring me A LOT...so the guy says OK&disappears again! so here I am with a huuuuuge plate of BBQ'ed meats&no sauce on top or on the side!! &i can't eat without my BBQ sauce cuz that's the only reason I eat BBQ'ed anything in the first place- it's becuz of BBQ sauce hellooooo!!?!? so, no server, no sauce, no food for me even if it's rite in front of me...so I flagged down the server from table nxt to us&ask him to pleez bring me BBQ sauce on the side as well as hot sauce, &he too says OK&disappears. so now I'm sad staring at my food getting cold. &then our server comes back&so i again ask him for BBQ sauce&he says OK again&some time later (&by now I'd started eating my friend's entree cuz i still can't eat mine without sauce- everything's too dry&burnt without it) he has another server bring me one small vile of BBQ sauce (adding insult to injury cuz there are a LOT of meat on my plate so i need sauce damn it!) &of course I go thru it FAST, as I continue to try to ask for more sauce from anyone omggggg!!! &we needed more refills on our drinks too (still no water by the way- we just never got any, period) but since nobody came over, I'm now just eating my friend's entree while mine is getting cold&drier by the minute!! &then our nxt table's server finally comes by with two small viles of BBQ sauce&bottle of hot sauce&we still need to order refills for drinks. anyhoo, all in all, the SERVICE HERE SUCKED SO SO BAD i get sad still thinking about it but I can't say anything bad about their food or beverages!! i would normally give them a generous 1 star or state that I'm giving them less than 1 star based on service alone buttttt I can't do that here cuz the food was just sooooo damned good!! even their salad dressings are delicious!! everything's cooked&flavored to perfection&i only wish they had more places like this where we live in L.A but they sadly don't...so I'm gonna try their other locations closer to L.A, hoping nxt time (my third time) would do the trick! also, their desserts are to dddddddie for omggggg!! the portions alone would knock u off ur socks but they're actually really gourmet&delicious!! so u see?? I really can't say that I'd never go back becuz of the food omgggg!??!!??!!

If you're like me and grew up in a small town, Claim Jumper was like the "special" place your parents took you to for a dinner out every once and a while. The portion sizes used to give me meals for about 3 days when I was younger. That being said, the portions of your regular meals at the Jumper are still pretty large though not as large as they used be and considering the price increases, is kind of a bummer. What I frequent this Claim Jumper for the most? Happy Hour M-F, 3-7pm). The drinks are a pretty good deal. I recommend the sangria or the margarita. The food is decent, however, I've been going here for happy hour for a couple of years and recently the portion sizes have shrunk to miniscule proportions. When I used to order the Irish Nachos you would get a medium sized plate of heaping fries with green onions, bacon and ranch. Now you get a mini-Cooper-ed version on a tiny plate with barely any fries, two sprinkles of cheese, one green onion and you have to ask for ranch. The only things on the happy hour menu that are a decent size are the quesadilla and the bottomless chips and salsa. Service is typical for happy hour. Friendly but a bit frantic because this place gets packed everyday for happy hour. So don't go in expecting to be checked in on every couple minutes and sometimes you might have to wave down your server for things. And the earlier you can get to the bar, the better, otherwise you will be waiting for a seat, especially on a Friday night.

The service sucks especially the chubby sweaty blonde hair lady who works the bar. She was rude, and slower than mollases. Our food took over 45 minutes to come out but was tasty after it was reheated by the manager. It wasn't even busy for a holiday weekend Sunday crowd so she had no excuse, oh wait yes she did ! She had her friends sit in her area and she was busy complacing them and forgot all about us. Go to Charlie Palmer.

My mom and I do our yearly Xmas time shopping the week of thanksgiving and go to claim jumper for lunch. We usually sit in the bar but this time we sat in the dinning area and had a great server, Taryn. We were greeted right away, drinks and food were brought out in a timely manner. Management and corporate, you have a great employee. A+!!

Been here on several occasions and I have to say quantity over quality is all the my head screams. Also it's a pretty much hit or miss...mash potatoes are usually good, while mac n cheese is super bland, meatloaf is super dry but has a good flavor. To me I think they are just mass producing food in huge quantities with really good quality ingredients. I guess that's good enough for most but I enjoy eating...it's up there higher then it should be on the list of favorite things to do. So for your intense sustenance or if you're training for an eating competition...this is your place.

Third time has to be a charm? Rarely am I disappointed when visiting a Claim Jumper, but this location is the exception. On my first visit, I ordered beef ribs and was told they had sold out. My next two choices too weren't available. So I returned again for the ribs only to be disappointed! They were Burned! Not a little, but well over cooked and they only gave me a butter knife to saw through them. I love the claim jumper, but this location is completely disappointing.

Waitress: hilarious! She commented on how young I was and gave me a free red velvet cupcake with chocolate syrup and sprinkles all over the plate as a belated birthday dessert. bonus points! There is no such thing as small portions at Claim Jumpers. I suggest sharing if you don't have a big appetite. Nachos: steak chili, guacamole, salsa, black beans, cheese, sour cream (but they need to add a little more sour cream). It was a large dish and the steak chili made it extra special. Chicken Pot Pie: It came very hot, creamy, hearty, and delicious. Definitely could not finish it. It came with a platter of fruit (canteloupe, grapes), plus a small whole apple. Raspbellini: Sweet and fruity Nachos + chicken pot pie + raspbellini+vodka martini + tax and tip = all for around $25! i left happy.

Absolutely fantastic. I went a while back with two of my girls, and not only was the food phenomenal, but the staff was friendly and we received our food promptly. Despite the fifteen minute wait for our table (which wasn't even too bad compared to other restaurants), a friendly waiter honestly recommended his favorites to us, (whom my friend decided she could believe because his favorite was one of the cheapest items on the menu), and he promptly served us our food. If you're a seafood lover like myself, I recommend that you ordere the dish with Tilapia fish and shrimp. It is one of there most popular dishes, and there's no doubt about that because absolutely amazing. The shrimp were huge and flavorful and the tilapia was like never-ending heaven. The waiter accidentally brought me a Dr. Pepper instead of my usual Diet Coke, for which he was very apologetic for and brought me the coke within seconds. In general, friendly staff + amazing food = BLISS!

Came on a Saturday at 4pm when the restaurant is not busy and the kitchen was extremely slow. Took 20 mins for a caesar salad. Server was not the problem. Also, the roasted tomato flatbread gave me an instant stomach ache. The quality of the cheese was poor and a layer of grease that was inedible. Will never come back.

***Happy Hour review only*** My gf wanted this to be our next Happy Hour spot so we came here yesterday. I must say this is the best Happy Hour spot I've been to covering all the bases from food to drinks to customer service. White sangaria - 5 stars. It was so refreshing and fruity. However, it is falsely advertise: on the Happy Hour menu it was $4 but when she went to ring it up it was $5.25. Something about the prices went up (?) I don't know, it was horseshit. Chicken Tenders - 5 stars. This is breaded in panko breadcrumbs so it had so much crunch without making the chicken dry and tough. Came with an order of shoestring fries = A+! Halibut Fish Tacos - 5 stars. Zomgggg these were SO good. The fish were done perfectly and the two sauce that it came with were divine. I devoured this plate in minutes. Oven Roasted Flatbread - 4 stars. I liked this dish although it is very cheesy. However, they sprinkle like pretzel salt on top of the spinach so those parts were just TOO salty. Our waitress was great. Attentive and fast. We never felt forgotten and she came to check us a few times.

Claim Jumper!? Yes I am a fan. Ok, so I've never eaten in the regular dining room here or even off of the traditional menu, but this place has an awesome happy hour. Super cheap beverages, half off appetizers and it goes until 700pm. The servers have always been awesome and there's tons of parking because it's at the mall. My only gripe, it's like the 35 and up happy hour. So, the scenery leaves a bit to be desired. I know...i'm disgusted with myself too. Oh well.

So I pretty much landed here because Maggiano's wait was way too long for me. Time is precious and so we decided to skip that place and walk over to Claim Jumper instead. I haven't really been there for awhile. First off, I was so surprised at how large this restaurant was considering it's within a mall, but then again it is South Coast Plaza which is a place I rarely step into because it overwhelms me with how large it is. But Claim Jumper is nice, the inside was nice and pretty and spacious. I always forget how large the portions are here. We ordered the "Widow maker burger" which I just had to try cause of the name alone. We also ordered the black tie chicken as a small portion because we wanted desserts as well. For dessert we ordered the "I dECLAIR" which was the largest eclair I have had with a layer of ice cream on the bottom, custard, and whipped cream all around and chocolate syrup on top. YUM!!! "Get in my Belly" is all I can think of. Burger ... GREAT Pasta ... I can do without, not so memorable Dessert ... Excelente! Plus the wait was 0 minutes, and our waitress was very nice. The food did take awhile to make, but it's all good with a dessert like that!

better than i thought. im always iffy about coming to a chain resto for some reason, but this location wasn't so bad. around 2pm came with 5 other ladies after our bridal expo shenanigan, and this place seemed pretty busy but since it's such a huge space, we were sat right away. we all had a drink and everyone seemed to be pleased with their order including myself with the 23oz claim jumper red ale. i had the shrimp fresca pasta and scarfed it down in no time. perfect portion and i loved how the pasta was very light in flavor and the parmesan crusted shrimps were very flavorful. i had a taste of my friend's drunk chicken (i think thats what it was called??) which was pretty good too. the rest of the order included salads, pot pie, burgers and i had no one complain~

When I think of Claim Jumper, I think of HUGE portions. The actual size of this location is actually pretty big as well. We were seated immediately just missing the Saturday night dinner crowd. Our server was cheerful and helpful. I didn't know Claim Jumper had their own beer, so I tried their honey ale. It was a nice, light beer. Our waitress promptly took our order after bringing our drinks out to us. The boy got a steak dinner with a baked potato side. I got the tri-tip with the Parmesan zucchini side. We didn't have to wait long and we also got garlic cheese bread while we waited. Eating the cheese bread made me glad that I picked up the nice habit of running on a regular basis. My tri-tip was surprisingly tender and delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect from Claim Jumper but it was good. I also enjoyed my zucchini and side of grilled veggies. I was good saved some food to take home for later. Claim Jumper food is a little more than what we usually pay for when we go out to eat but the bf had a gift card so the total wasn't too bad. Sadly I left my leftovers at my boyfriend's apartment and now he gets to enjoy them.

After reading the other reviews I think why add mine, as apparently Management is not reading their social media feedback? Wait time to be seated: acceptable Food: fine Competency of Waiter: mediocre Time to receive food: too long but acceptable Time to receive a special order (avocado): unacceptable Time to be checked by a Manager: still waiting Had to ask three times for a side of avocado, no apologies just a roll of the eyes. No apologies when the avocado arrived at the end of the meal. Would I recommend the restaurant? Not really, a shadow of what the chain used to be

I only give it a 2 because the service was spectacular! My waiter, *thank you by the way*, was amazing. He was attentive, funny and so genuine, which you don't get much of in that area. The food was horrid. I ordered the Widow Maker Burger. I was not impressed at all. It was good for a moment, but then it was just a plain old burger. The side: fries, were horrible!! I'm a fry connoisseur. These are not fries. They are shoestring fries. Yuck. My best friend who ate with me ordered the Shrimp Fresca Pasta. The shrimp were to die for but the pasta was flavorless. The appetizer didn't taste that great either. The problem is that I have never had bland or bad Spinach Artichoke Dip!!! His salad was also bland. He ordered it with blue cheese dressing but it tasted nothing like it. Anyways, for what its worth: too expensive. Customer service rocks. Food, bad.

Very good food and service. Very extensive menu so you have a lot of choices which can be both bad and good. For my friends it worked out well. If in the area again, I would go out of my way to grab a meal here.

When we arrived we were immediately seated. The only complaint I had about our seating was it was right by the silverware, so I heard the scrambling sounds of spoons, knives, and forks the whole night. Our table was close enough to where the silverware was that my chair got bumped a couple of times by the bus boy. For an appetizer we ordered a platter of Garlic Toast. The toast was delicious when dipped in tomato sauce. It was crisp around the edges, soft in the middle, and toasted to a perfect shade of golden brown. I ordered a bowl of clam chowder and a BBQ Chicken Sandwich. The bowl of clam chowder was lukewarm. If it had been hot, it would have been perfect. Accompanied by the clam chowder were oyster crackers, which complimented the clam chowder well. I love black pepper in my clam chowder, so I scoured what looked like a black sea of black pepper into the creamy clam chowder and enjoyed every last spoon. The BBQ Chicken Sandwich has not changed at all. It's still one of my favorite dishes to order at Claim Jumper. It reminds me of eating a BBQ chicken pizza due to the fat pieces of Pita bread that hold the Julienne chicken breasts, smothered with BBQ sauce, gouda, mayo, sliced tomato and crisp lettuce together. You have to try one for yourself to see what I am talking about. I love the pickles here, as they are crisp, crunchy, and not too sour. The service on this visit was excellent. The manager took our drinks in the beginning because there were so many parties dining around us. He was very polite and catered to our needs. Our waitress was probably new and was doing training, in which she did a good job. The server who was doing the training was awesome too. She was very specific and detailed about our orders and wanted to make sure she got everything correct. There was never a time when we had to ask for refills on our own as we got refills without having to ask. In summary: portion sizes to feed an Army, with quality way higher than I've come to expect from a chain restaurant.

Hada great experience here. Came in ordered and everything came out in perfect timing. Service was great and the food was cooked perfectly the way I wanted. Huge portions had a lot to take back to the room with me.

I wrote a review about 6 months ago that was negative. Since then I have spoken to the Manager. She is probably one of the nicest people you will ever talk to. She was very understanding and didn't let anything just go. She took care of all issues and the next time I went back in, she personally made sure I was taken care of. I think that the experience I had before was out of the norm and wanted to post that I am happy with this company. Now... it may take me awhile to trust going during happy hour time. But I will for sure go back there.

my boyfriend took me here today && he ordered the chicken & broccoli alfredo & i got the tilapia veracruz. DO NOT order the chicken broccoli alfredo. it was so bland. tasted like NOTHING. the closest thing that tasted like it was probably rubber band. he had to ask for 3 sides of extra sauce. and it still was whatevers. however, the tilapia veracruz was pretty bombski. the fish was so tender & the seasoning was just perfect. if i just got the alfredo, i'd give this review no stars. but i think we just ordered the wrong dish. loved the environment. classy, quiet, dim. perfect for a date.

Don't go if you're on a timeframe! It took 45 minutes for my lunch...a salad. 2 stars because once I got the salad it was tasty. They let me sub for salmon so it ended up a bit pricey..$18 salad. Good salmon though.

Good happy hour menu. Appetizers for $2, drinks for $3. Food is OK, but restaurant outlay and service is great. I especially like the decor and setting of this CJ. I really like their chicken pot pie and baked sweet potatoes (a side if you order an entree). Be sure to order at least one of the two when you get a chance. I hear ppl complimenting on their ribs, but it was OK; not great like Phil's or Tulsa's, but definitly a notch or two better than Applebee's or Denny's. The rib combo plates are big.

Terrible. Nice décor, but my drink (just orange juice) was way past the expiration date, my wife got steak when she ordered steak and shrimp (and then was charged $31.99 when the waitress got it right), the calzone had the worst canned mushrooms for ingredients, my wife got chowder instead of the salad she ordered. Just a terrible dinner for almost $60 with tip. Never will we go there again.

VERY SLOW SERVICE. I always cringe when a restaurant hands me a beeper right before we get seated, but we were hungry and my friend really wanted to eat here. We sat a table at the bar and it took several minutes for the server to realize we were sitting at a dirty table. But it gets better. After they cleaned the table, she just left and didn't ask us if we wanted anything. Minutes later, the manager eventually asked us if we have been helped

I wouldn't come here for dinner, but they have decent appetizers and cocktails for happy hour. I really appreciated the service here, even though they were obviously very busy, our server was very attentive and did an awesome job making sure things were good.

Never going back. A buddy and I walked in on a Saturday as the restaurant just opened and sat at the bar. Another group sat at a bar table, making us the second group of the day. As we sat down, we ordered our beers and some wings, taking menus to look over for lunch. After 20 minutes, the place had a few more tables sat and, from our seats at the bar, we could see food coming out the kitchen and being served to tables who came in after us. We, though, had yet to order our lunch or get our wings. While the bartender continued working to open the bar, my friend asked very casually how the wings were going. The bartender gave my buddy a look like we were being jerks and said "they're working." How this bartender expected us to stay after that is beyond me. Heck, we even paid for our beers and tipped him because he obviously needs all the help he needs in life. Used to go there all the time and all the other bartenders were great, but that guy forced us to go to the Lake Forest location from now on.

There's nothing more satisfying than a warm and hearty chicken pot pie! I have never come close to finishing this, so I think everything here is good for sharing because the portions are so big. The tri tip can be chewy but that's good jaw exercise if you look on the bright side. The flavor is good and you get a side of garlic cheese bread. The babyback rib is tender and falls of f the bone easily. They don't have very good artichoke dip though. This is the nicest claim jumper I've been to but I'm particularly fond of this place because it's where my relationship blossomed. Aww!

Very large portions of decent but very ordinary food, I really don't understand why there is sometimes a line at the Carlsbad location. Feels a bit franchisey to me, and seems to be very little imagination in the food. Unfortunate because the place is huge and in a great location. But, when I want a chicken pot pie this place calls me back (been back several times). Good place for families because there is something for everybody.

I really like their happy hour menu. It is cheap and delicious, especially the pulled-pork street tacos and Buffalo wings, but their women's bathroom floors are CAKED with old, smelly urine! Literally everytime I go there to use the bathroom it is this way, so I imagine they never mop or clean the floors surrounding the toilets. :(

I, wouldn't say its my favorite place to eat but its onebut its a good place never the less, they give you plenty of food and theres nothing really wrong with they place its nice if your planning on going on a date or something special. I do have to say that they have a good Hot Fuge Sunday, had it last night after the show and it was just the thing i needed to end my night. I did go late at night when you think that the serves would be tired and ready to go home, but our waitress was rather nice and totally added to the greatness of the night.. Which is all i could ever ask for, its because of her i woudn't mind coming back to this place.

Awesome food choices during happy hour. Their pretzels are by far the best I have had at an actual restaurant. They are is good as Auntie Anne's or Wetzel's Pretzels! Everything I have had here has been good.

Best service around.... I love happy hour and it is all day Sunday. McDonalds is right there but their ceaser salad is cheaper than Mickey D's. The bar tenders are super friendly and it is the best place to eat at in the mall. Sid is a great bar tender. I come here often during happy hour to get the best quality and price on food. Very good for people who work at the mall.

Are you in the mood for American food? Here's the place! No wait around 9pm on a Saturday Night. Located right in the South Coast Plaza Mall. Plenty of Parking.. Spacious and huge venue.. Dark lighting which made me sleepy especially at late hours nowadays.. ( I am getting old ) Service was very friendly. No complaints! Complimentary apples and mint candies up front when you exit the restaurant! Ordered: 1. Sliders - the beef was a bit too dry.. maybe I should of specifically said medium rare...It was nothing too special but I ordered it since I wasn't too hungry. Accompanied with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pickle. 2. BBQ Chicken Sandwich- cheesy and bbq.. but definitely a good selection for a chicken sandwich compared to other places. ginormous portions i may add.. It actually scared me when I saw it delivered to our table. 3. Motherlode chocolate layered cake- Not too sweet and pretty light. I like a chocolate cake that is not overkill with sugar..to the extent where my glucose sugar level sky-rockets. But of course, that dessert was not finished. I believe it is about 6 to 7 layers of cake...I still don't understand America.. why do you need to serve such large portions... why are we promoting obesity? sighhhhh... Big portions are never a good thing!! I remembered last time I went here, the food was much better and satisfying. Maybe the Fremont location just tastes better because it is in the bay :)

I am a fan of comfort food. I have had many last ditch efforts with to much walking involved end up at this BIG claim jumper. They get busy on weekends so make a reservation or be ready to wait. Loud, open with fast service and hot bread.

Oh Claim Jumper. You used to be my favorite. The delicious garlic cheese bread. The beautiful tri-tip. The amazing baked potatoes. Things have changed over the years as things have gotten worse for the company. The serving sizes have gotten smaller. Well, they were huge in the first place - no big issue. They stopped putting apples on the plates are garnish. Okay, no one ate the thing anyway, I'm sure it was a decent expense to the company. They stopped serving some of my favorite dishes. Well, that sucks. The service started going down hill. Hey now, wait a minute... The last couple times I've been have been an utter disappointment. But yesterday takes the cake. My mother and I showed up for dinner at around 5:45. We were quickly seated and our order was taken promptly. Our drinks were brought right out and then... nothing. At first we didn't really notice. We were catching up and talking about our latest projects, but gradually time ticked by. 15 minutes. 20 minutes. Half an hour. We started watching for our waitress. Surely a stuffed baked potato and a tri-tip dip don't take half an hour to make. After 45 minutes the waitress approached us to apologize for the wait and told us that happy hour was booming and that she was sure our food would be right out. Another 10 minutes ticked by and still nothing. After staring pointedly at the waitress for a while she approached again. Still apologizing, still empty handed. This time she said the manager would be with us shortly. It was yet another 10 minutes before she came back with my mother's sandwich. Finally, one meal arrived over an hour after ordering. The manager herself brought out my baked potato. She apologized and said there was no excuse and clearly our meal would be free. She also claimed she'd had our food remade because she was concerned it had been sitting and waiting for us too long. So we had fresh hot food right? I'm not sure what Claim Jumper's definition of "remade" and "fresh" are - but clearly there's an issue with communication. My potato was luke warm at best, the veggies were rubbery and dry and the chicken may as well have been dehydrated it was so dry. My mother, not one to make a fuss, asked if my food seemed fresh. I told her it did not. She sighed and said that neither did hers. To make people wait over an hour for very simple food and then deliver it with a comment that it was supposedly fresh when really it was thrown in a microwave for way too long and then left to cool and dry out for additional time is disgraceful. Claim Jumper has gone from one of my favorite restaurants to one I have no wish to ever set foot in again. Bad form, Claim Jumpers. Bad form indeed.

this is my first time at claim jumper's happy hour. the service was okay but the food was bad. the calamari had a very weird texture to it and didn't taste like calamari at all. actually, it made me lose my appetite. I'm going to try somewhere else for happy hour.

I hadn't been to Claim Jumper in about 7 years and even forgot that this location existed in South Coast Plaza. Anyway, I came here last night for dinner and found that it was nicer than I remembered. This location is very large and I was pleasantly surprised. For a Wednesday night dinner, it didn't get crowded at all. I ordered the chicken pot pie which was good... and HUGE. For $12.99, it took me and my husband to polish it off. The pie crust was underneath and on top, which is always a good thing as everyone knows that the pie crust is the best part of a chicken pot pie! The only thing I would improve on is that the pie crust on the bottom part was more bread-like than pie crust-like. The fruit bowl that came with my meal was generally pretty flavorless. I'm not sure if it was sitting out or just not that fresh, but they can increase the quality of their fruit or just give me the option to choose what I want... side of grilled veggies, garlic cheese bread, etc. The real reason why I gave this location just 3-stars was because the service was mediocre. Our server was not proactive and only refilled our drinks when we asked, gave me a spoon when I asked for my chicken pot pie, gave us extra spoons when we asked to share our dessert, etc. He never checked on us to see how we were enjoying our food or see if we needed anything. When we asked him questions about the menu and our options, he was uncertain about his answers. Maybe he was new... or maybe he was just a bad waiter. But service is extremely important to me no matter where I go. For a large establishment like Claim Jumper, I'd expect the service to be a little bit better. Perhaps, on Wednesday nights are reserved for the B-team employees.

Stopped by with family while shopping at South Coast. Overall, it's the experience you would expect from a chain restaurant -- nothing more. We ordered: Baby back ribs BBQ chicken salad Widow-maker burger Potato cheddar food The food was great! Huge portions. Obviously not very healthy, but definitely hits the spot for comfort food. The service was unpleasant. Even though it wasn't very busy (on Saturday at lunchtime), they didn't seem to care/put any effort or oomph into service.

I came to Claim Jumper for a work lunch, and the service was terrible. They weren't very busy, but it took almost a half an hour for someone to take our order, and even though everyone had salads or burgers, the food took forever to arrive. I had the BBQ Chicken Salad. It was definitely a good size, but a little on the bland side. Next time I would get extra BBQ sauce on the side. The ingredients were good in the salad: lots of rotisserie chicken, jicama, corn, and black beans. Maybe I'll be back again for another work lunch, but I just hope they get their act together so it doesn't take an hour and a half to have a salad for lunch.

As the years press on, Claim Jumper has been slowly evolving. This used to be the place for the person who's all-time favorite deadly sin was gluttony. There were AYCE buffets that would not get you as full as Claim Jumper would. Order salad. Order pasta. Order a sandwich. Order meatloaf. Order chocolate cake. It didn't matter, they were bringing it out in a trough and wheeling you home on a gurney. But recently Claim Jumper has been dialing it down a bit. The fat-assery factor is still there if you want it, but they seem to be swapping some quantity for quality. And bravo to them for it. Went here last night, and had the New York strip steak, which included vegetables and one side. I chose green beans, and was glad I did because they were nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. The steak and veggies were great too. Also, they know how to cook a steak here. I have become accustomed to steakhouses undercooking it when I order it medium-rare, so I ordered it medium last night and it really was medium. So next time, I'd order it medium-rare. Really quite good. I did not end up getting my favorite desert here last night, but for the record it's the toffee bite and I highly recommend it.

I was SERIOUSLY disappointed with my food! When did Claim Jumper become the next BJs? What happened to the massive orders fit to feed a miner? What happened to all the mining tools that use to hang on the walls? What happened to the all you can eat salad bar they use to have? WHAT HAPPENED? We ordered the Calamari. It came out on a hot plate but the calamari was lukewarm and the "marinara" was actually cocktail sauce with basil. It was sad. I ordered the Country Fried Steak ( which I know from memory was HUGE and delicious). My friend ordered the rotisserie chicken. The hunks of steak were thin (thinner than I remember) and the batter on the outside was overwhelming. Too much batter and not enough steak. The biscuit I got was stale and had been warmed over (which made it even harder). I asked my friend about her food, and she noted that the chicken was good, but nothing stellar. Our server was young and energetic, but seemed to be very very busy with his 4 tables. I don't think I'll be coming back to this, or any other Claim Jumper. I miss the old style restaurant.

I recall at Claim Jumper when the kids' meals were based on the child's weight, and the nice salad bars! I keep forgetting about this location, not clearly visible from the inside of the mall. Since re-discovering it, I like it's location, and the energy within and around it. Although small, the outdoor seating area is nice, as is the bartop. While I have always have dessert on my mind from the start, I'm rarely in the mood for it upon finishing my meal... and the other members in my party are far from eager to share anything with me. I just wish they'd inform the customers if they're out of a dish once they pass out the menus; my poor husband, 3 out of 3 times, has been advised that they were out of the entree of his choice (and the most recent visit was only mid-afternoon). Good thing it wasn't me; I would probably have taken a bit of time to get over preparing my tastebuds for the entree I'd set my mind on.

Horrible experience.. Had never been here before but people had said ther happy hour was good so we decided to try it.. Yuck yuck and yuck.. We ordered these chicken tacos and first the meat smelled and in every bite I had pieces of bone in my taco not pleasant.. We ordered two salads and the lettuce was soggy and the dressing was watery.. And we ordered about 5 appetizers and each of them came like 20 minutes apart... Now let's talk service our waiter was horrible he came and we ordered drinks and after literally reminding him like 40 times he we just cancelled them.. And then he put down our silverware by dropping it which was just so pleasant not! Anyways overall conclusion never coming here again

Been here a couple of times - had steak one time and pasta another. Wasn't the worst food I've had, but I wasn't impressed either. Typical chain restaurant food, maybe a half step up from Applebee's (yuck).

I have no idea why but after the disaster at the other Claim Jumper, I went here (Maggiano's had a 45 minute wait). I also have no idea why this place looks nothing like other CJ, smells nicer, heck, even the waitresses were cuter. The food was great, the service was great, everything was really good where I would really recommend it. One day, I may get the up the nerve to try that ginormous piece of chocolate cake they show off in the display case. Once again, 'nuff said.

I ate dinner tonight at this Claim Jumper location with my sister and cousin. This CJ is at South Coast Plaza, and it has a very spacious, nice-looking interior. There was a 20 minute wait for a table at around 6:30pm, which wasn't too bad. Our waiter was very nice. I just had water to drink, while my sister had a glass of Merlot red wine, and our cousin had a mojito. To eat, I ordered a cup of the New England Clam Chowder and the CJ Ultimate Fish & Shrimp Combo (fish & chips, grilled shrimp, fried shrimp and blackened tilapia over rice pilaf). My sister got the 12oz ribeye steak, and our cousin got the tri-tip. The food was really good (I really liked the clam chowder, which had many clams; and fish & chips are always one of my favorite items anywhere). However, the food was noticeably slow in coming out, and I was super hungry! Our cousin's mojito also took a while, which our waiter apologized for due to the bar being busy due to happy hour. I don't like how happy hour is only in the saloon. As always, the dinner portions at CJ are huge, so my cousin and I both took home a to-go box. My sister devoured her steak, though :)

This is my favorite Claim Jumper! It's a hop, skip and a jump to OCPAC over the bridge and tonight we came here for dinner before we see the new revival of South Pacific. We made our reservations on their web site (very slick and easy!) and we got there around 5:30PM. We go in right away; everyone else waits. Good planning. Food was generous and good, as expected. Service was above average. It does get noisy when it fills up, so, weather permitting, sit out on the terrace if you want to have a pleasant conversation with your meal. Overall, 3.5 out of 5.

This place was kinda unforgettable. Though we were seated fast and the beer was good, the waiter wasn't too friendly, not unfriendly just not that friendly. I thought Claim Jumpers was supposed to have big portions. Everything was kinda small and not well prepared. I ordered the Roasted Chicken w/ Veggies, a salad and Corn Bread This is probably not one of their specialties because nothing about it was special at all. The Veggies and Salad were good and the Corn Bread was just OK. The wifey got the Salad/Pizza Combo. Salad was decent size. My wife should've ordered the kids pizza though, my son did and it was bigger than hers. All-in-all a huge waste of time and money. The second star was for the tasterific beer.

Yuuuuuk, the food was awful! My boyfriend and I went to have dinner here after I picked him up fro John Wayne since its so close. We were both hungry and craved something delicious, but claim jumper took our appetite away. I will never eat here again nor do I recommend to anybody. The service was cool, the food was gross, greasy and old looking. It's hard to f*#^k up a house salad, but they somehow managed to get that wrong too.

Went here last Wednesday for my bro's birthday. The service was prompt, the refills were plenty, the waiter was attentive. I wouldn't mind coming here again. My sister and I ordered the tri tip which came out salty but then again my sister liked the salt, so to each their own taste buds. My brother liked his clam chowder and we all loved the cheesecakes. For the rich and creamy cheesecake lover, my sister recommends the Raspberry White Chocolate cheesecake. I was wanting something different and so I ordered the Caramel Apple with crisp granola-streusel topping. It was dee-lish!

FAIL. Across the board, on almost all levels. These are the words to describe the Claim Jumper Costa Mesa at the South Coast Plaza. Do you know why I can say this? Because I'm part of the Claim Jumper family. I am not a former employee, but brother to one of the managers and his fiancee, who also is team Claim Jumper. Claim Jumper Brea, Claim Jumper Arcadia, Claim Jumper Fountain Valley. When we go eat at these locations, he still takes the time to tell make sure the staff pay attention to the little details, because little details matter. And these things stuck in my head as I witnessed THIS Claim Jumper execute miserably. These location above are the better examples of the Claim Jumper franchise. The South Coast Plaza? One of the nicest places to eat in Southern California? They have their heads up their... you get the idea. I took my parents and my nephews out to dine, and for a reliably good dinner experience with all the history my family has with the franchise. Maybe see some familiar faces from other places at this locale. What a disappointment. 1. We have two kids with a stroller, and you attempt to place me and my family in a booth with the highest traffic, and no place to put the stroller. Was no one trained for this? We asked for a table instead. 2. Also ask the cute blonde hostess who I had to go to in order to FINALLY take our drink order after 15 MINUTES of sitting their waiting for someone to ask check in on us. I physically had to stand up and go to the front to get service, because none of the waitresses or bus boys OR ANYONE around of the Claim Jumper staff attended to us. 3. If you want to verify this as a true post, ask the young man who sat us down if we could have the happy hour menus, since it was 6pm and we had an hour left. Why is this important... because we finally got our food at 7:05pm!!!! Yes, piping hot, but it's an HOUR after we sat down. We were lucky we had brought food for the babies and were so busy feeding them and taking care of them that we ignored our own hunger. Kids are getting cranky and fidgetty from sitting in one place for an hour, and we wanted to avoid a scene, because my mother wanted to change her order: Fresh blood of the manager-on-duty and the wait staff served piping hot. 4. Yes, we left a mess, because we brought food for the kids and had to eat THAT while we waited for the wait staff to come and get our order. 5. When the waitress finally claim, she apologized because she had NO IDEA that there were people at our table. What, are we transparent ghosts? I know the stroller sure took a lot of space and the staff walked back and forth. 6. Manager on duty. Look at this post. Look at the receipts of the day today, October 5th, 2011 and see what time our waitress took our order, and see what time we finally paid for it. Why is this important? Because that's when we took the food to-go and put the babies to sleep. Notice the HALF HOUR inbetween. I know it full well, because every minute with the kids was felt. 7. No one came to check and see if the table that had been sitting there for an hour needed more drinks. Absolutely NO ONE until they brought our food. That's 35+ minutes!!!! There was no need to call for one of the managers, nor to flag someone down again. The ball was dropped on every level. I've contacted my brother at his Claim Jumper location, and he in turn will get the ball rolling to handle things "internally". But until a few staff members change and training is improved, AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE SOILED CLOTHING OF A HOMELESS PERSON. Only positive thing that I can say about this Claim Jumper is the food that I took home and am still eating. I had to put my nephews to sleep for the night, and now FINALLY I get a chance to eat. It is that good.

I haven't been here in years and the last time i went i had a horrible experience. I guess after all this time i wanted to give them an another chance. NEVER AGAIN. Came in, got seated right away, cool. Got seated and asked the waitress if we could have some time to look at the menu like she expected us to order right away, weird. She then came back after a couple mins then stared at us until we ordered something. Wanted to try one of their Claim Jumper house beers, some sort of blonde beer. Tasted like watered down Coors light, disgusting, i wish i was joking but it really tasted like that. So, i ordered a Long Island Ice Tea and my gf ordered pomegranate sangria. My Long Island tasted exactly like the sangria. We ordered wings and calamari. Wing's looked like they just microwaved it and the calamari was so undercooked and soggy from the oil, i guess they wanted to make us sick. We just wanted to pay and leave this crap of a place. got our bill and gave our waitress our card, she came back and we noticed that she charged us an extra $6 for nothing!!! When we were trying (obviously) to flag her down she pretended not to see us. Then when she came to our table, even before we said anything, she said "oh, something charge extra?" like she already knew what was up. Jesus, this place is horrible. NEVER AGAIN

Claim Jumper Visit on Dec 22, 2012 I have been a loyal customer and at times I come in to have a few beers and when a certain bartender is present, I feel like walking out...He has the personality of a stuffed Pig & lacks good interpersonal skills and acts likes he is there and has to be - I mentioned to another bartender who is employed there and when she brought me my TO GO order and had I known she was going to be there I would have stayed and hung out...I frequent establishments to be friendly and carry on periodic conversations and he is the only one that I have seen that lacks the friendliness in general and does not carry out any likeness and need for me to hang out....It makes me ill that when establishments know these things are going on or have knowledge to them that they do something about it.

Beyond a Fantastic "WEDGE" . . . We don't usually go to this location when we enjoy Claim Jumper, but WE ARE GOING TO! . . .Our server was really NICE. He gathered our drink orders and we said we were ready to order right away. Without another word, he took our order and returned almost magically right away with our salads and soups & drinks. I ordered a Bloody Mary but it came in a blink of an eye too! Everything we ordered was "SPOT-ON' . . . and I am kidding you not, it got to us QUICKLY! I appreciated that he was so attentive and the FOOD WAS DONE PERFECTLY! I had a steak and was pleasantly surprised to see that a medium was a medium ! Sometimes Great food compensates for so-so service or vice versa, but this location REALLY HAS THERE FOOD AND SERVICE TOGETHER! I think they'll being seeing us many more times.

This place is just fine -- nothing spectacular. It is only worthy of a review because I discovered they have margherita pizza. I did not know this. It's listed with the appetizers, but makes for a great meal. They even throw on some goat cheese for good measure. It's a decent choice if you aren't into the meat-heavy items on the menu. I was fairly impressed with the crust, for a place that doesn't "do" pizza.

Since I'm not a California native, there are many restaurants that I have yet to try. Claim Jumper was one of them. My fiance always has to listen to me say... I wanna try this place... over and over again and he'd always tell me... it's nothing special... So I never really got my hopes up for it. I ended up coming here because it was my friend's birthday and we had a coupon for a free meal. We can't beat that. Anyways.... We shared a shrimp pasta. I was gladly surprised with this dish. The shrimp was halved, flattened, and breaded. The sauce in the pasta was a lemon and buttery cream sauce. (One of my favorite types of pasta sauces) In addition shared some fries with this meal. I've got to say ... I have a weak spot for restaurants that serve thin cut fries. Claim Jumper won my approval with this one. The last thing we ordered was a potato soup... This soup was just okay. I probably favor a home made potato soup or the potato soup from outback steak house. I just think it could have had a bit more flavor. I guess the soup was the only thing that would have kept me from giving this restaurant 5 stars. All in all... it was good eats.

There was a group of us who came here for a birthday party...not a big group, only 4 people. The restaurant was not that busy but it just took soooo long for us to get our food! I've come here in the past and we were seated promptly and our server got us our food relatively quickly. We were all definitely getting impatient and by the time we received our food, we were all a bit irritated to say the least. On the bright side, claim jumper does serve above-average food and their servings are huge. Second time i've been to this location so let's see how the service is the next time that i'm in.

This is my first review on yelp and I decided to review a place that a foodie like me could really get his grub on. Claim Jumper is a great place to go for any occasion. It's even more perfect location if you are seeing a show across the street. The staff is very friendly and the portions are enormous. They have a good happy hour menu and the bartenders are quick to refill your beverages. In the dining room portion of the restaurant, I really like the booths which have plenty of room to spread out and I feel my conversations are private. The woodsy cabin feel of the place is very comforting. Most importantly the food is delicious. I've never had a bad meal there. The beef dip sandwich is outstanding. I'll be back for sure and probably soon because now my mouth is watering.

I've always like Claim Jumper. I know a lot of people don't and I get it. But until I experience the bad or worst of the place, I'm going to continue to say good things about them. I think the problem is the time of day you go. That period between lunch and dinner (say 2-5:30) the place slows down, the servers look relaxed and are more friendly and willing to smile. This place does a booming business around happy hour. It's loud and noisy and you can't get a seat anywhere. If you are willing to put up with all of that......more power to you. I don't.........so I don't go. But during that 2-5:30 "sweet spot", you can hear yourself think and as a vote of confidence to the place, I'll be going there again on Tuesday afternoon after viewing a rehearsal of the Royal Danish Ballet over at Segarstrom. Come over and say "Hi" By the way, become a "club member", you can get some good deals. Currently; for $12.99 a 1/3 rack of baby back ribs, 4 fried shrimp and their to die for "three cheese potatocake".

Came here with a couple of buddies for some beers and dinner. We were placed in a corner booth in what must have been the DARKEST corner of the entire restaurant. Not to mention no elbow room..... After we were re-located to a table we eventually ordered dinner. The waiter seemed a bit impatient and rude ( tried to talk someone out of ordering their steak well done due to the cook time?) with us and didn't really show himself except to drop off the bill. ( we had to ask other waiters for beers etc.) I give the food 4 stars, portions are huge, everything is as good as advertised. Service 2 stars if that. My advice? Order it to go.

I love this place. It's the best option when you have something special to celebrate because you can find great dishes for everybody. My Burguer was amazing. I was thinking in that chocolate dessert of last time but my burguer was just enough! Jennifer (the server was super friendly).

Bartending: Perfect My plate: can't remember it. So that means it wasn't bad for me to remember to dislike it. And it wasn't good enough for me to remember it. It's in the safe zone. I should give it 3 stars as of right now. But I'm giving it an extra one for customer service. I got a hot beautiful waitress and she smiled and was very charming. An extra star for customer service.

I come here somewhat often whenever I'm at South Coast and starving! The food is pretty CJ's standard here. They let me change the Cisco Burger with Tri-Tip! It's conveniently located also for food before a show.

Okay, in all fairness, we did walk in @ 9pm & they close @ 9:30! Yet, I do not feel one should feel rushed. If you know that desserts will not be able to be made after a certain time, you should let the customer know, and not seem irritated when asked about dessert....... Kevin really dropped the ball.......... He went to ask if something could be put together, came back to say everything was broken down, yet Diego could put something together........ yet, No menu IN front of us! Give a REAL option buddy, or just say...."I don't want you to order ANYTHING"! So after he gives the menu, he walks away, NOT to return for a while, he comes back to take the order! One of the items we ordered wasn't even available, another guy came back to ask us if Kevin informed us. NO, he did not, yet charged us. Customer service late night, not too good kid!

You go to Claim Jumper for two reasons - the pretzel sticks and the dessert! The pretzel sticks are buttery, hot and delicious and come with two dipping options: an ooey-gooey cheese sauce and a spicy mustard - YUM to both :) In between my pretzel sticks and dessert - I also ordered the cobb sandwich (grilled chicken, avocado, bacon, bleu cheese, tomato & lettuce) on deliciously grilled bread served with french fries - double YUM! BUT, the dessert was the real reason I cam here... specifically the "I Declair" and the "Chocolate Motherlode Cake." The I Declair, is a giant (and delicious), eclair with bavarian cream, covered in hot fudge, sitting on a bed of vanilla ice cream and surrounded by a towering wall of whipped cream. To say this wasn't the perfect treat for a sweet tooth is an understatement... it also was big enough to feed 5, so since there were only two of us, it seemed we barely made a dent before giving up but it was worth it :) We also got the chocolate motherlode cake to go, so we could indulge in this later that night. Well, indulge we did - in a cake slice that was so monstrous it was given to us in a shoebox, no joke! It features 6 or 7 layers of deliciously, moist chocolate cake with velvety chocolate icing in between each layer and the top and side was covered in that same icing and encrusted with walnuts. This cake is seriously decadent and it's possible to eat the whole thing in one sitting because it's just that delicious and once you start, it's difficult to stop! But fortunately, I had will power that night, and only ate one of the layers, which was just so sinfully delicious.

Great place for beer and apps while waiting for someone to shoe shop. It's also good for a meal if you're into sharing an entree, want to have plenty of leftovers or are readying yourself for a "Biggest Loser" audition. Now you're not going find anything "South Coast Fancy" on this menu, it's just good grub. There's enough of a selection to satisfy most, and while it seems to have the "South Coast" inflation in prices, it doesn't feel too expensive for what you get.

I was here a few years back and remembering this place being good. Well that kind of changed since this last visit. I ordered the tri tips with the side of Mac and cheese along with the mashed potatoes. The tri tip was pretty good.. It was cooked just right. My Boyfriend ordered the half chicken with Mac and cheese with veggies. His chicken was dry and the veggies were under seasoned. My boyfriends mother had the chicken salad which was pretty good and her husband had the full rack of ribs which was very under seasoned and a bit over cooked. The cornbread which is my usual favorite part of the meal was very disappointing. Super duper dry and not easy to bite into. Over all experience was ok. The server was nice and the atmosphere was warm and inviting as it always is. I would one back again hoping for a better experience.

Is it just me or does this Claim Jumper location look alot like the inside of a PF Changs?? Perhaps I'm just suffering from chain-restaurant overload. I was invited to have lunch here with some friends. We were a large group of 12-15 people, all separate checks. I could tell our server was thrilled. I'm always stumped about what to order at Claim Jumpers because I'm going to have to eat it for 2 days. I always feel as though I'm making a big commitment. So I was very happy that there's a lunch menu with smaller portions. I ordered the blackened salmon. I waited. I was hungry. After a brief eternity of hunger, plates began to arrive at our table. Salads, sandwiches, ribs........... No salmon. I waited some more. No salmon. I was still hungry. My friend down at the other end of the table had been eating my salmon. I wanted to cry. The server was so apologetic, even the manager came out and apologized. Not sure why, I wasn't angry, just hungry. Did I mention I was hungry? The server got my salmon in a jiffy, and it was on the house. Awesome!

Four Stars for the service. One Million stars for the Mozzarella Sticks, and One star for the potato skins. I got everything I asked for but was a bit disappointed when the loaded potatoes had No Taste at all. I'd definitely like to try a steak there next time.

I have been to Claim Jumper a gazillion times but never wrote a review about my experiences- so hold on tight, here it is! Came here yesterday to drink iced tea and have pumpkin cheesecake. I accidentally missed a show at the OCPAC (oops) so my friend and I decided to treat ourselves to dessert- there isn't anything wrong with that!! Service was great! The server filled up our iced tea whenever it was low, The pumpkin cheesecake: YUMMY!!!! I love pumpkin anything and this dessert was delicious and one slice was big enough for both of us so we didn't pig out too much. On other occasions I have ordered actual lunch/dinner and my favorite item to order is the Citrus Chicken Salad with the dressing on the side, this is definitely one of my favorite salads ever and I don't like salads all that much, so for me that is huge! The salad comes char grilled chicken with mandarin oranges, green apples, avocado, golden raisins, dried cranberries, glazed pecans, bleu cheese crumbles and green onions. They serve it with some vinaigrette dressing but I ask for bleu cheese instead...yummmy.

Slow service and poorly prepared food. The food prep is one step above a Denny's. The service was typical slow, un attentive and just painful to watch. They were not busy, but seemed to lack focus. The quality of the food vs the pricing is a joke. This place only survives because of the location. Put this restaurant and this staff anywhere else and it would die a fast death. the manager needs to train servers to pay more attention to diners. Circle the dining floor more, less chat among employees. Waste of money, time. Never again.

In the South Coast Plaza on the second floor down the way from Sears, you'll find this gluttonous establishment hocking its wares among the lumbering shoppers. Claim Jumper is the perfect example and explination of America's obesity. Never the less, it has it's good points. Yeah I'll admit that I eat here more than I should. I don't necessarily like this chain, but they're not entirely bad. The food is decent and the pricing is fair. Portions are huge and definitely fill you up. I can't say much for quality but it's not like you come here for quality. CJ's is a fun place to get a lot of food that will only marginally make you ill. The steaks are surprisingly good and so are the fish (get it blackened if anything at all). Stay away from the pastas (bland), chicken fried steak, jumbo shrimp, and the chicken parmigan. Come out tough and difficult to cut. Burgers and sandwiches are neutral. Ribs and rotisserie are questionable. I like the house salad and a few of the appetizers (southwest eggrolls, buffalo wings, nachos). Desserts are fine. I like the ice cream sandwich. The ice cream part is decent but the cookie is what makes it so great. Don't get it dipped. It takes away from the toffee bits. I typically order the ribeye med.r. or the gigantic fat@ss sized porterhouse. I rarely indulge in the chicken or the ribs. Overall, not bad, and pretty good considering the cost and it's availability. Quality isn't the best, but for what you get, CJ's is pretty good.

I haven't been to a Claim Jumpers restaurant in a couple of years after an incident I had there. I ordered the tri-tip and asked if it was gluten free. The waiter checked and told me it was indeed safe. Halfway through the meal, he came back to tell me that the gravy did in fact have gluten in it. At that point it was too late. They took my information and the corporate office offered me a gift card, which I gave away. They also told me which items were safe. Yesterday, I was at South Coast Plaza in Orange County, and there was a Claim Jumpers restaurant-I decided to give it another try. Surprisingly, they now feature a gluten-free menu on the backside of all of their regular menus. Interestingly, some of the items (like the bbq sauce) that corporate had told me were safe, were not on the list. I ordered the roasted chicken, which was decent. Mostly though, it's nice to know that they took notice of the number of people who could benefit from the gf menu. Here's a link to Claim Jumper's gluten free menu.

For comfort food a a reasonable price, CJ is a sure bet. Was there recently for their happy hour and I'll have to say, the sliders (tri-tip, pulled beef) and fish tacos were tremendous. Great place to watch a game and power down appys for not too much coin. Solid value.

Fast service during happy hour - we skipped the bar and sat at a table because it was too crowded though. Their house white beer is really, really good. Apparently a lot of people think so because last time they were out and I tried their house Hefeweizen which was also good. I also had their Cobb salad which wasn't bad.

I came here on a Saturday night with some friends to celebrate another friend's graduation. My first thought when I walked in: THE PLACE IS GIGANTIC! I haven't been to a Claim Jumper before, but there was so much space between the tables that the waiters had more than enough room to walk by without tripping. The space also makes the atmosphere pretty relaxing, since all the space kinda gives you more privacy and tones down the volume of the restaurant in general. Decor: pretty cool. I like how it all goes in theme with the "Claim Jumper" business etc. The waiters even wear "sheriff badges" on their uniform. Cute. Speaking of waiters, the service was very nice! Our waitress was friendly and pretty cool, even if one of my friends asked her, "Are you the local Sheriff around here?" Our orders were taken promptly, and at one point, the same friend asked the waitress what Grenadine was. It's a red syrup meant to add extra color and sweet flavoring to your drinks. Surprisingly, the waitress brought out a small cup of Grenadine (a "shot of Grenadine," my friend called it) so that he could try it. Not only that, but water was refilled quite often. Now, on to the food. My friends and I shared a Calamari appetizer. It actually looked more like chicken nuggets to me than Calamari, but tasted pretty good nonetheles! For a main dish, I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon. DELICIOUS. I love seafood, and this was pretty good salmon. Savory flavor, not too fishy, and it complimented well with the Japanese ponzu sauce and wasabi. Interesting and delightful combination! The grilled veggies that came with it were a bit oily, but not that big a deal. I also tried some of my friend's Bow Tie Chicken Pasta. Came with some garlic bread. The garlic bread was a bit too oily for my taste, but the pasta wasn't too bad. I ate it even though I'm not a huge fan of Alfredo sauce, and it was all right. I had some of my other friend's Cheese Potato Cake. I don't like cheese, but this was a pleasant surprise. Try it, it's something different! Great service and pretty good food for what they serve. Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of this type of food, but if you're up to it, it's a good time. I'd definitely only come back for special occasions, though. So expensive. P.S. Avoid salads for your main dish.

I've been eating at Claim Jumper for nearly 20 years. They were always the "go to" place for great food, a really fun atmosphere, and huge portions. I was sadly disappointed last night when we ate at the one near Southcoast Plaza. The food was not the same at all. The country fried steak used to be huge and delicious. I used to be able to order the full portion and save half of it for the next day. The same menu item last night was nothing like the dish in the past. The entire steak and preparation were different in a bad way. The portions? About 1/2 to 1/3 what it used to be. The price? Higher. It was now $16 for 1/2 of what fairly recently was $13. My Dad ordered the Steak and Lobster. It arrived cold. We had to ask to heat it up. The Lobster was rubbery and of low quality (think cheap buffet quality Lobster). The Steak was tough and equal to a Denny's quality of Steak. Mash Potatoes, which they used to give about 2 lbs, were a small 1/2 cup ball of blandness on the plate. All the other guests (8 of us total) were completely of the same opinion. Their staple dishes had changed too. It was really disappointing to have one of your favorite all time restaurants go downhill in such a short amount of time. If the new owners (Landry's - think Rainforest Cafe) of Claim Jumper don't revert to the old menu and style of food/experience, we will likely never go back. I don't think we're alone. One last thing. I do have to say the service was great. The waiter admitted that he spends most his days apologizing to his customers for the drastic changes in food preparation and quality. He told us candidly that he has worked there over 7 years and really noticed a huge change for the worse recently. Sad! Sad! Sad!

Okay, my fellow Yelpers, by now you know that I am a true Claim Jumper aficionado. I make no bones about it being my favorite chain restaurant in the world. I love their menu, their presentation, and of course their portions! I am absolutely in awe of this location, which is in South Coast Plaza. First of all, the restaurant is HUGE! It looks like the commissary at the Presidio, and I'm sure it could easily house a hungry army if it needed to. With all these people to feed (especially during the lunch rush) you would think that orders would get messed up, and food would simply not be as good as other locations. Well, I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a bad meal here, or a ruined order. They should win a Sigma Six award for maintaining order through all that chaos. Lastly, if you like Claim Jumper, and don't mind eating in a not so cozy atmosphere, then don't wait. This location is well staffed, and represents the franchise very well. Bring a HUGE appetite, you'll need it.

I clearly ordered the wrong thing here. BF was happy with his chicken fried steak. Daughter was happy with her pizza. We were traveling, so I didn't want anything really heavy. A quesodilla sounded good. However, it wasn't. I expected a large tortilla with cheese inside cut into trianges and some black beans and guacamole on the side. What I got was really small triangles of fried, greasy, unappetizing corn tortilla pieces filled with cheese and a few pieces of black beans. No guacamole, just a couple of tiny slices of avocado. It was really, really lame.

My review is solely for Happy Hour. I've been to Claim Jumper a few times for Happy Hour. I'm terrified of their restaurant (for fear of gaining twenty pounds just LOOKING at their food) but it's a okay place to grab a drink around the five o'clock hour. They have a couple dollars off wine by the glass (it doesn't work out that cheap, to be honest, but it's reasonably priced enough that I'll pay it) and some decent drink specials. The one cocktail I had there was WAY too sweet so I switched right back to wine. They have a decent happy hour food menu, with appetisers from $2 up. Most of the food I've had was either good or at least good enough for the price, though a friend of mine ordered Nachos which basically came out stone cold. The slides are a generous portion for the price you pay. It's not the greatest place on earth, but the prices are decent, the food is okay and the bar staff are really nice. Given it's just down the street from me, it would have to go downhill quite a bit for me to not find it a convenient, decent place for a drink after work on a Friday night.

I like this location over the Irvine one because it doesn't have the "Coccoon" effect (referring to the movie). At the SCP location, I feel like I'm sitting among my peers, not my grandparents. The location is great because it's right next to Haagen Dazs, and I think there's also a Starbucks around the corner. Anyway, we went here on Saturday because I was starving. I kind of wanted to go to Lawry's, but I was craving some the red velvet cupcake. I ordered the jambalaya because I'm on a mini quest to taste jambalaya from every restaurant that has it. Anyway, maybe I shouldn't expect get some good old cajun food from a restaurant that's Gold Rush themed. But I'm optimistic (sometimes). The jambalaya looked good. And it looked like jambalaya. It tasted like... chicken, sausage and shrimp on rice. It totally lacked flavor or spice. It made me crave Bud's even more! But there was a bright side to my meal - a side of garlic cheese toast! It's the stinky, sodium-y and carb-o-licious "dessert." So yummy. I get bloated just thinking about it. Next time I'll come back for my red velvet cupcake. It's too long too walk to Mrs. Beasley's. :D

Food was good (although it seemed a bit overly reheated), but the servers seemed lost and confused bringing food to the wrong tables. My dish was missing the rice it was supposed to come with. I guess they thought I just wouldn't notice because when I pointed it out to the server he found out they were out of rice. Who runs out of rice at 4:30 pm even before the dinner rush and doesn't at least alert the wait staff to tell people when they order a dish that comes with rice. They brought me mashed potatoes, but I shouldn't have had to ask. And no refills on drinks. Customer service is lacking.

We go here quite a bit for lunch. Or we were going here. Don't really need to review the quality or flavor of the food since all claim jumpers are pretty much the same. However, this place is totally understaffed. Don't come at lunch. It will look open in terms of seating but as soon as you sit down you'll see how they're understaffed. The waiters and bartenders are all frantic, it takes forever to place an order and then the orders are incorrect when they bring them out. That has been my experience the past few times we've been there. Finally - don't order the Onion soup unless you have a lot of time to wait for it to cool down. It was scalding. Trust me, I expect for soup to be hot but not to almost boiling point. So, once I've scorched my tongue I mention it to both a waiter and a bartender. Both of them nodded and had the same response- it's put in the oven for 10 minutes before bringing it out. Well, since they responded the same I would assume they've had this mentioned to them before and know it's an issue. Couldn't they have just said something when they gave me the soup? Could have saved my poor tongue. Maybe they didn't say anything because when you are super crazed and frantic you don't remember to warn people. Next time I'll go to the other one and not order the soup!

I'm a shameless Claim Jumper fan. I don't care if its a chain or whatever people's complaints are about it, I love the place. My favorites are their Chicken tenders (great Panko bread crumbs), Baby Back Ribs, tri-tip dip or just it solo, BBQ chicken sandwich, BBQ pizza, shrimp taquito app, onion rings and their salt and pepper shoestring fries (the BEST!). Oh yeah, good french onion soup! I don't usually have room for dessert, especially that Chocolate cake but I've had the lemon bars and they are excellent. My friends swear by the blueberry muffins as well. I've had the cake too and while I wouldn't order it, it is rich and tasty. This South Coast location is massive and has a decent bar or patio seating if you wish. and is good for kids/large groups. I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here and easily take friends or family. I'm a big CJs fan.

This is the sort of themed restaurant that I almost always avoid, for themed restaurants usually have spent entirely much more time thinking about the restaurant's interior (usually plain tacky) and staff uniforms (often silly) than the food and service. Well, this place is simply, and consistently, different. I usually sit at the bar, and no matter *how* busy the place is, I receive excellent, attentive service -- amazing. Their New England clam chowder is really very, very good (I'm extreeeeeeeemly picky about anything to do with clams) and the burgers are just perfect (i.e., cooked to correct temperature, large, hot). If you do go and sit at the bar ask if Sid is working -- he was born to be a bartender. You'll figure that out if you see him (I used to be a bartender, I know -- he's a bartender on steroids).

I've been here a few times and this restaurant is alright. Nothing too special about it except maybe their desserts. This last time I went with my mommy and we both ordered different kinds of chicken salads. I thought the salads tasted good and we ordered the smaller portion option and it was perfect size and everything. Also came with their "famous garlic cheese toast." Eww it isnt that good and they shouldnt be bragging about it too much, in my opinion. We ordered this chocolate chip calzone thing for dessert. It says it takes 15 minutes to make so we waited...and waited...and server apologized...and we waited. Okay it actually wasnt that long or bad, I didnt really mind, but when it came out it was huge and delicious. It was like a pizza calzone but it had milk chocolate and white chocolate chips melted inside of it. It was very good. Unfortunately when we came home, my stomach started hurting really bad :( I thought it was because of the chicken, but my mom had some of my chicken too and she felt fine so I'm not sure. I feel like I dont wanna blame the restaurant too much because I get really bad stomach aches from a few restaurants that I go to, so maybe its just me. So overall, this place is just alright.

Stopped in for lunch while at the mall because we were STARVING. I usually don't like Claim Jumper because the portions are so big that I feel like I'm throwing money away if I don't lick the plate clean (thanks mom for those good eating habits). It was past lunch hour so you could shoot a cannon through the place without hitting anyone. Our server got our drink and food order right away, and drinks came out pretty quickly. The food came out in about 10 minutes on plates that are bigger than my coffee table. I had the rotisserie chicken, my partner had the tri tip. He said it was a little too fatty, but we agreed that the mashed potatoes were little fluffy piles of heaven. My chicken was juicy and tasted like, well like chicken. I guess if I had eaten the skin (eeeeww) I might have enjoyed it more. C'est la vie. Our server did bring refills without being asked (huge brownie points in my book), but took too long to drip off the check. Overall a good experience, but a little pricey for lunch. When did it become acceptable to charge $2.75 for a soda? The whole meal cost about $31.00 plus tip. Good food, quick service but not worth the price tag.

The patio is beautifully cramped and has a great view of corporate buildings... ok i guess that would not really call for 4 stars but- I am a poor college student with friends that have large appetites and are happy hour scouts four of us spent 20 dollars on appetizers total! Of course we ate them as meals and were full beyond belief. also the sliders weren't on king's hawiian bread. as much as i love the sweet taste of island carbs, I am not really a fan when it comes to my burgers. Is it just me or sliders often on sweet bread? ANYWAYS I also got a lava flow on the contrary to burger buns, I DO like my drinks sweet. yay for cheap food and drinks. no wonder they call it happy hour! oh yah. my server was kevin and gave us crappy service because he probably could anticipate that we werent going to be huge tippers. though he was overly friendly to others.

The location in the mall is great because it's right on the side and accessible directly from the outside so you don't actually have to go into the mall to get in the restaurant. I've only been here for take-outs and big-group occasions. Their portions are HUMONGOUS. I usually order California Citrus Salad which, I believe, is the appetizer version of the Citrus Chicken Salad without the chicken. I love the dressing and the candied walnuts -- yes, the unhealthy part of the salad. I think they often overdo it with the Bleu cheese crumbles. I also love, love, love the Motherlode cake which is a gigantic tower of sweetness, enough to keep your sweet-tooth satisfied for weeks. I took home a slice in a container the size of a shoebox one day and the cake lasted me for a few days. It may sound disgusting but it was deeeeelicious. Service is fairly attentive here. When my friends decide to do big-group things here, the staff is accomodating and patient. Extra star.

Popped into this place for a quick lunch with a girlfriend on a Saturday Afternoon. It ended up taking a really like time. The service here is attentive but S-L-O-W. It might be because we sat outside but it seemed like it took our waiter forever to do things. The food was okay, I had some kind of burger on sourdough but with a veggie patty, and my friend had a very good looking Margherita pizza. We also had dessert which was excellent! The apple crisp is beyond yum. I would also like to note that they have a full page of desserts here, which in my view is always a really good sign.

Every time I come here, my experiences get worse and worse. The only reason I kept coming back was because I wanted to give them one last chance to redeem themselves...however, at this point, I'm done! No more chances, CJ's! My business is going over to your Fountain Valley location--which has always been great! The first item of grossness came from their--you guessed it--plates! Upon receiving my plate, I noticed that there was CRAP ALL OVER IT!!! GROSS!!! (Not literally crap, but it's not my job to decipher what was on there before, right? :)) Secondly, I decided to voice my opinions to one of their managers, who basically didn't want to deal with it and wanted me to tell the server instead. Funny, because I spoke to her gm--she seemed more than happy to hear about my concerns. I hate having to go to the top of the food chain, but for some places, you don't really have much of a choice. :K

I went there the day after Christmas. My little boy was hungry & the wait wasn't too long so we stayed. I wasn't hungry so I ordered a cup of soup & a side salad. We were a party of 5 and the rest of them had a full meal. Everyone's meal was served except for mine. 45 minutes later, my little cup of soup showed up. 15 minutes later, our unfriendly server apologized for the side salad & said that she will take out the 1st one that the kitchen prepares. Another 20 minutes later, the manager arrives, apologizes again but still without a salad. At this point I was fuming. It's a chain restaurant & I'm pretty sure they don't make their Caesar dressing from scratch. So after everyone was done with their meals, the manager brings out my side salad with no explanation why it took over an hour to prepare. I told him i no longer want it. He offered to take the salad off the bill which made us more annoyed because the food was bland & mediocre and the service & management was poor!!!!! I will never go back to a Claim Jumper ever & I don't even think that they deserve a star on my review!

enjoyed a great evening here with my wife last night right before heading down the street to Shark Club. i ordered the aged steak and lobster and man was it delicious. she had the bbq ribs and that was decent. we finished my food and took most of hers to go. we ended the meal on a sweet note and ordered this giant 7 layer chocolate cake. it was huge. we ended up taking that to go too. overall i rated this place 4 stars. the food was great, the prices were decent and the service was pretty good.

Servings are hugeeeeeeee! No way that I can finish anything they serve here so I already ask my server for a to-go box before my food even arrives. This claim jumper has been erratic, sometimes I get my food in decent time, and sometimes, they just lag! But overall, the food tastes consistent with what other Claim Jumpers I have visited.

When it comes to Claim Jumper, 3 phrases come to mind: Full Bar, Happy Hour, and Great Snacks - they do all 3 very well. This newer South Coast Plaza location is definitely one of the nicer locations around, being that it's huge, dark, has plenty of seating, and has a fun bar situation. However, I wouldn't go there to watch the game, being that their TVs are at these weird angles. Go there to hang out while passively observing updates via SportsCenter. Happy hour at Claim Jumper is one of the greatest, as they extended the hours to fit the corporate woman's working schedule. Finally, those who work on salary can usually make the happy hour cutoff with just enough time to grab some $4 well drinks and $3.50 pints! Then they can add on some specially priced happy hour apps at about $5 each, take $2 off regular priced apps, all the while chatting it up with friendly bartenders. As far as snacks go, listen to me and order the sliders. Hands down, they have one of the best versions of these around OC. The patty is thick, and (low and behold), it's not some large patty cut into fourths that's slapped onto mini buns (yes, you Yard House!). The Thousand Island dressing is surprisingly good. Served with their customary sides of tomato and pickles, adding on cheese means you've got yourself an excellent meal. Overall, hands down, Claim Jumper is one of the best happy hours in OC. Highly recommended.

My dinner was okay, but unmemorable. My dining partner's chicken pot pie, however, was memorably grotesque. I can't believe this is one of their signature dishes. Not much in the way of chicken or veggies and the filling had a gelatinous quality that really made me want to heave. Otherwise, it was okay. Your typically crowded, noisy chain restaurant in a big mall.

I went to eat there with my bf. It was in the late afternoon so the crowd wasn't that bad when we got there. When we went in, we weren't greeted by the host. Actually we couldn't find anyone at the front to seat us. After seated, our waitress came to greet us and asked about drinks. She was very nice and often approaching us to ask if things were ok. Over all, the service was excellent and food was fabulous. Happy camper. Will return.

Happy Hour at the Patio at South Coast Plaza. Servers were frenzied, but pulled it together at the end when they brought out two helpings of bottomless chips and peppery salsa. You might find yourself waiting for your food, and for your server if you want to order additional items as the servers/ waiters were quite busy. Word to the wise, put in your orders early and if waitstaff come by, usurp the opportunity. What else..The sliders are unadorned, they just come with a slice of cheese and have a dense, buttery bread. You have to ask for ketchup for your shoestring fries.

BEST place for happy hour... $3-5 beers... $2, $3, $4 appetizers.. food is quick, service is good, and the staff is friendly... It also helps that I live right across the street. $2 pizzas, cesar salad, calamri, tri tip sliders- highly reccommended! nice work CJ.

We had the shrimp fresca pasta and steak and shrimp. The steak and shrimp was cooked well. Steak was done almost perfectly medium rare. The shrimp was not over cooked. The only problem was everything was over seasoned. The mashed potato had chunks of potato. Looks like they rushed it and was infused with salt in every spoonful. The rice in shrimp dish was very salty. Definitely no finesse in any of the dishes. So overall pretty horrible for what your paying for.

I've probably gotten my meal comp'ed thrice now. They've gotten my order wrong twice and once I found a piece of plastic wrap in my dessert. The servers aren't very good at checking up on tables after they have served the food. But food is decent and it's located in the mall, so once in a while, I'll tell myself, 'why not?'

We have not been to this location in a couple of years because the last time food and service was not good. We have changed to the Fountain Valley location which has excellent food and very nice people, but we were at South Coast and starving. One of the main reasons we go to the Jumper is for the garlic cheese bread, a family favorite for many, many years. The first platter was lukewarm and I sent it back asking "Can I please get hot cheese bread?" The brought another platter about 5 minutes later (no, not the same platter)--guess what? Lukewarm again, so it was a very large strike. Waiter was nice but just not attentive at all. The rest of the food was actually very good, but at this price we expect the meal to be outstanding even if it is just an appetizer. We will keep going back to the Fountain Valley location from now on.

I've eaten here twice, and both times, the food was excellent. If you're looking for really good comfort food, this is the place. The portions are Huge, and can easily make two meals. I will be back for more.

Ok, the food here is seriously bad. The microwave-warmed desserts are horrible. The price tag is NOT low. BUT, let me be honest, from time to time, I do think of their super fattening heavy duty calorie filled bread...Oh geez...I didn't just say that. I come here for lunch because it's nearby, at the mall, and convenient to meet up. I tried the chicken pot pie and it was worse than one I picked up at the freezer section of Ralph's. The salads are drowning in salad dressing (so I usually have to go without the dressing or "on the side") worse yet, there is so much random ingredients that don't really go together... The deep fried plate appetizers is so horrible for you but...my friends can't seem to get enough of it. This place is so busy and well, I guess the drinks are good and it's a fun atmosphere, but don't have high hopes w/ the food...

This location is conveniently located facing the street in South Coast plaza. The restaurant is big and there is a lot of parking. This means that it is great for groups. (or you would hope) This particular saturday did not seem all that busy because there were a few open tables and not too many people waiting. Our group of 10 was promptly seated and waited on. However, once our orders were taken, it took almost 45 minutes for our food (which for some reason came with our appetizers instead of coming separately) arrived. The portions were very generous as always, but i must say... dry pork ribs with insufficient sauce on only the middle of the rack, and an undercooked baked potato speaks for itself. I tasted some of the mahi mahi and it was too salty and oily for my liking. If im waiting long for food, it better be good.

We went to South Coast Plaza today to look continue Mom's search for a dress for the wedding. She just wanted to have a quick bite, but since it was Mother's Day, I wasn't going to let her get away with that. Claim Jumpers was our compromise. We had no trouble getting a table even though we arrived about 12:30pm, apparently we beat the rush on the location. She choose the salmon salad with lots of fresh veggies, it looked great. I went with the rib, because I have been in a rib state of mind for a while now -- even though they are very messy. We were happy with our meal and the service we got. We even got desert from the Small Bites section ... granted they weren't as small as we expected. The World's Smallest Sundae was a scoop and half of ice cream with whip cream and chocolate sauce. Mom got the flan, and it was the size of all other flan I have seen. I guess they are considered small when compared to the Motherlode Cake.

Son and I went here because we were starving while shopping and we usually love Claim Jumper. Bad choice. It started off by the hostess being on the snotty side. When we asked for a booth she snapped that they didn't have any available. A server overheard and said she'd just seen one open up. She cleaned it off and walked us back, with not another comment from the hostess. Our server ("C", I don't want to put her whole name) started off OK. She brought our drinks quickly and was average nice. We ordered and I specifically asked for my salad CHOPPED, she even read back to me that I wanted it that way. My son ordered cheesy bread as one of his sides. 15 minutes later (not bad, by the way, for how busy it was) our food comes. I can see from 6 feet away that the salad wasn't chopped so I asked the busboy before he even set it down to please take it back and chop it. My son didn't get his cheesy bread so he requested that they bring it out when they bring back my salad. 10 minutes later, "C" comes back and said "you wanted your salad chopped?". Well YES, the way I ordered it and you read it back to me!! 10 minutes later my son's 1/2 way through his meal and my salad comes back BARELY chopped. I ended up having to chop it myself with a table knife. From here on out, "C" had a really crappy attitude and was on the verge of rude. And the cheesy bread still hadn't come. We asked for boxes and the bill and got the heck out of there. Very unhappy and won't go back to this location.

This is by far one of my favorite "Claim Jumper's." It's super trendy looking, clean & very helpful service. The calamari was good, Chinese salad yummy & the "Flat Tire" beer cold and perfect.

Came for happy hour last week with one of my good friends, and had an excellent experience at the Bar. The bartender and server were extremely nice and really took care of you. They were constantly making sure you were taken care of, suggesting drinks and food choices. Most people think this place is a little pricey, but I think it's actually pretty decent, with the amount of food you are getting. Typically my friends and I like to all get appetizers and share, and it really fills us up and we all split the cost. The actual meal portions are Ginormous! (no joke!) seriously folks, you've got to be like starving cattle to be able to scarf some of those entrees down. So If I do get an entree, I will split that with someone as well, so in the end, the pricing is pretty decent. Happy hour is great. There is a great drink menu to select from, and they pour very nicely. There is also great happy hour food, and great prices to help settle your stomach with that hard liquor you want to chug after work. I highly recommend this place for family dinners, or maybe a nice dinner before seeing and awesome show at the Performing Art Center, or a nice happy hour after work! If you do get a chance, you must try Framboise... it's a Raspberry Beer they carry, it's ten dollars, but you get the whole bottle and it's about 4 glasses in that bottle... It's mucho yummy!

What can be said about this place but bring a hearty appetite and plan to take some home. Famous for several of their dishes, plan ahead and save room for some of the best desserts you'll find. My personal favorite, The Motherload! It is simply a chocoholics wildest dream. But don't plan on taking this on without a little help from the rest of the table. For those looking for something more on the lighter side, their soup and salad bar has it all. The freshest of fixins' for any rabbit food lovers delight. You'll go in hungry, but come out full. Great for 2 or for 20, The Claim Jumper can meet all your hungry dining needs.

I'm not sure if I should admit I've eaten their oreo cookie mud pie for dinner. And I'm even more ashamed to admit I washed it all down with a cider. I like this place for lunch, and for happy hour. I've been to dinner, but I think the lunch menu is better just because I like the sandwich/soup combo that is only offered for lunch. Their sandwiches are great, shoestring fries, salad, soup... and obviously, the desserts. I even met one of my closest college friends over the root beer barrel candy. She used to work there and when she found out how much I loved the candy, she'd bring me back a handful every so often.

Nice place. Okay service. But the food... my god the food... Fish N Chips tasted like oil... really... how can you screw up deep fried fish?! Had to order the big brownie dessert with ice cream just to water it down (which cost more than twice as much and wasn't as good as the same dessert at Denny's). Maybe it was just a bad day for Fish N Chips...

Rolling through at 6 p.m. for Happy Hour on a Friday at South Coast has not been one of my most brilliant ideas, but the wait was worth it! After stalking the HH areas for open seats like complete creepers, we were able to finally sit our hungry asses down at a table on the outside seating area. I started off with a tasty and sweet white sangria and my girlfriend got the Tropical Hooter. Both were quite delicious. I liked that the sangria had lemon and orange slices with grapes in it. I wish it were a little stronger though! I could barely taste the wine. HH appetizers go from like $2 to $6 for each plate. For our appetizers, we just friggin splurged like we hadn't eaten in 2 weeks. We ordered the bottomless chips and salsa. The salsa is good! It tasted like roasted salsa. $2. Crazy good deal except that we ordered so much other food we didn't even finish the big plate of chips. We got the Sicilian Pizza Rullis. Delish! They're like little pizzas rolled into a giant bite size piece. Inside was pepperoni, sausage, cheese, tomato sauce served with marinara. Yum. I was almost tempted to lick off the oily goodness on the plate. California quesadilla was pretty good too. Inside was black beans, cheese, and avocado and it came with a mini salad and salsa. Oven roasted flatbread! That was my favorite. It's flatbread (very very flat) with alfredo, mozzarella, GOUDA (my favorite cheese everrrrrr), sliced tomatoes, and spinach. Each bite was delicious. Mmm GOUDA is GOOD. You think we were done with 4 appetizers? You were wrong. We shared our table with some awesome strangers bc HH seating is limited and we took a table too big for 2. They ordered the chocolate chip calzone and I kept saying no it's a bad idea no this is a bad idea no we shouldn't order this. We ordered it anyway. And it was heavenly and sinful at the same time. It was filled with chocolate and white chocolate chips baked inside pizza dough topped with vanilla bean ice cream and whipped cream. We got the ice cream on the side which was a great idea because I took the leftovers home. So much food! The dessert was like $7.50. Not bad. Not bad at all.

I really like the variety of dishes here! If you can deal with the wait, you will enjoy this place! The portions here are pretty large, however, I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon which was a reasonable portion, not to large. It was served with Basmati Rice but had no sides. My waiter did bring me a side of grilled asparagus which complimented the meal perfectly. My wife had the Honey Chicken Brie sandwich. That was huge! I think it's the bread that gives it the girth! The wine list is adequate and they have a nice bar. Save room for dessert! The Mud Pie is awesome! After, you can walk off dinner by doing some shopping at South Coast Plaza!

The "I Declair" is awesome there. It's huge and you just want to finish the whole thing. I only came for dessert so I can't tell you about the regular food. I also had their lemon cheesekcake there. It was nice but not spectacular. But if you like custard you've got to give the "I Declair" a shot. Just make sure you have someone there to share it with since it's so big :)

I've only been to this location for happy hour, and I loved it. I guess because it was early Thursday (we were there at like 3pm), there wasn't a lot of people. Apparently they have a late night happy hour Fri and Sat, but you won't find me there, because I bet it's really crowded. Our service was great and I think the price for food was pretty good. I recommend the calamari, Sicilian pizza rulli's, and mini dips. Not a big fan of the mixed drink I had. I tried the tropical hooter which tasted like juice and did nothing. Our service was great. The waitress at the bar area was super nice.

25 dollars for a new york strip steak. It was about 3 quarter of an inch thick. Did not contain the telltale strip of fat on the edge. About 1 third of that was inedible because it was grizzle. So I paid 25 dollars for a real nice baked potato ... and an 8 ounce bologna steak. Fortunately my wife had soup no complaint there. Never again.

This is one of the few places that serves my favorite beer- Lindman's Framboise (it's a Belgium raspberry malt beer). I've been here for Happy Hour, Lunch, & Dinner and this place is constantly, constantly busy. So if you plan to go, make sure you're ready to wait at least 30mins. Everything is pretty good here, but by god (gag), their calamari is absolutely the worst. I've only had it during Happy Hour and I've had the misfortune to try it twice... at two separate locations. It's long and chewy, not delicately sliced up or crispy. Ugh, just thinking about it.... (dry heaving)

OH MY GOD Roxanna and I just had the biggest and best piece of bread pudding EVER at this restaurant! Mmmm mmmm...this restaurant gives you portions made for Andre the Giant...surprisingly no fatties in there, but we are in OC, they probably get it lipoed off.... Big menu, good prices, nice location, $6 for Valet parking..a little steep...

Perfect to Claim Jumper to go to if you want to wait FOREVER for a table and horrible service. If you have the patience and a big appetite, this is your place to be. Since this is a busy location, expect your food to not be so great... at least you still got the hearty portions! Not a big fan of this location because of the mall crowd. I prefer the one in Irvine at the corner of Alton and Culver, as it is less crowded and has better service.

service is awesome here! the hostess actually smile and are happy to seat u and ask if the seating is ok. the waitress are friendly and they are always runnin around to bring u refills and bring u extra napkins, the food runners are so pleasant and friendly and always willing to bring u whatever else u need the food is delish i love the tritip here which is odd because at other claimjumper locations its not that tasty...yesterday we had the tilapia plate, whiskey chicken, and calamari... dannnng the calamari here is YUMMY! huuuge mother effers with delish cocktail sauce. the whiskey chicken was a lil sweet for my taste but still big thick chunks of chicken with yummy apple stuffing and mashedpotato and the tilapia (my fav fish!) was cooked well on a bed of rice with asparagus and salsa! yummmay~ too full but ONE DAY i will be back for the effin chocolate motherload cake...i will conquer u!!!!

Great service. The people there are working hard to keep an army of customers happy. As far as food quality. Its pretty shitty. I got a tri tip that was all salt, and cold ... luke warm best. The stuff was sitting under a heat lamp waiting for the roasted veggies of no taste. Where do they get the produce to taste like nothing? Soylent Green! I forgot the fried zucchini with Parmesan was fresh from the fryer, it was hot as hell. Hot oil juices burned my lips. The beer I got was skunky, like its been open or left in a warm car. Then chilled before service. It was great the waitress changed it without a bat of the eye. Claim Jumper's food is gross .. and expensive. I'd rather have a home bbq. Its not that hard to make this sort of mid west dish to taste great.

I agree that this claim jumpers is the biggest I have seen yet and most clean. I ordered the french onion soup, which was perfect. Service was fantastic, I think mostly because our waitress was new. I had a strawberry lemonade with my glass rimmed in sugar, yay! I couldn't finish my chinese chicken salad because it was huge. What was most awesome was since I went to eat on Father's Day, a surveyor gave our party 3 ten dollar coupons for our next visit, sweet! On the way to the restrooms, I noticed the full bar, yum! This claim jumpers was much nicer than the one in Long Beach for sure! Oh yeah, and their mocha mud pie is dreamy with the fudge sauce:)

This is the only place to go to when you want variety at South Coast Plaza. Yes, there are lots of eateries, but this place has the most to choose from. Food can be fare to decent, service is always consistent: It always sucks, and the only safe thing to drink from the bar is beer, draft or bottle. Their mixed drinks and cocktails are all measured in jiggers. Pretty tacky/pathetic. This is my biggest pet peeve when I order a drink.

I came here for dinner while on vacation. They seated us promptly, brought us drinks right away. I Love rib-eye steaks! My favorite!! So i ordered the rib eye 16oz I shared because I could not finish it. I wish I had the appetite to because It was Delicious!! I got the grilled asparagus, baked sweet potato and garlic cheese toast. Asparagus could have been cooked just a bit longer. sweet potato was awesome with sweet butter and brown sugar. Could have offered more than 1 slice of cheese bread. My bf tried the apple-something pork chop and it was good, not something I would order and homemade buttermilk biscuits which were very very good. We could even think to order dessert we were so full! Steak cooked perfect and seasoned well.

This is my second visit at Claim Jumper. I ate here last August when I drove down for Blizzcon 2007. There is really nothing special about the food here except the portions are sometimes larger than the average theme restaurant. This is a great place to chill with a group of friends. I wouldn't come here with a date. Their service was wonderful. Our server looked like Angelina Jolie and after downing a Yeagermeister and half an Adios, one of my buddies started hitting on her. "I got a question for you. Are you Angelina Jolie's sister?" HAHA priceless. She was flattered. To cap off a lazy but *interesting Saturday night, I ordered 2 Adios. The glasses were fairly large, but dang, go easy on the kool aid next time and pour more Bacardi in there! It was refreshing, but lacking potency.

WORST SERVICE!! My family and have gotten great service from Claim Jumper EXCEPT THIS LOCATION!! We got sat down orders taken and drinks served. Here's when it gets bad.. 2 minutes later a group got sat down and their orders taken then 3 minutes after that two more groups got sat down and their orders taken. Minutes have past and all the other groups got their food and we are still waiting on ours. Waiter came and said ours is coming soon but then other groups we saw that came after the first three groups got their food too! So after seeing that and watching my nine year old with his head down and in tears from hunger, we all angrily walked out!! WE DEFINITELY ARE NOT GOING BACK!!

I've been to Claim Jumpers before and this one is no different than any of the others. I am giving two stars though because our waitress had recommended I get the roasted tri-tip (which I did) and it wasn't that great. It was a lot drier and tougher than I would have wanted. The baked sweetpotato and the apple cinnamon muffin sides salvaged my experience there, however, and upped my review from one star to two. If you go there I would recommend these sides but try something different for your entree. Expect large portions (as with any Claim Jumper) and service which is not too shabby.

The plan was that after dinner we would come here for dessert and drinks at the bar to watch the Laker's game. We totally forgot that the Laker's had an early game so we ended up watching the replay game for the Clippers. We shared the I declair and had a glass of wine. It was really good. The service was bad, but the ambience was great. We met a couple of guys at the bar and shared some conversations with them. It was great. I would definitely come back again.

I don't usually eat here, and haven't in 10 years but we stopped in last weekend for lunch. This location is much more "upscale" then ones I have seen before. They have a pretty decent lunch menu with selections under $10 and its kinda quiet for the fact that it is inside the mall. I think the best bet is to hit happy hour from 3-6 and the drinks and apps are all much cheaper and their bar is very nice.

The food at this branch of the Claim Jumper chain can be very good. Unfortunately, there are numerous problems in the kitchen. Examples I've been through: Fried chicken coming out raw in the middle (not just a tiny bit pink) after the first fried chicken was returned because it was leftover shoe leather in texture. Baked potatoes kept warm far after their prime so they are hard and waxy, the "fresh" replacement hard right out of the microwave (we asked for fries or mash if they didn't have a fresh replacement). Soups like Clam Chowder always served lukewarm in big cold bowls so the soup is cold around the edge and barely warm in the middle. Fresh noodles used in some dishes not brought to the boil so they come out pasty, sticky and raw tasting (this has happened multiple times). Beef ribs so dried out they were like leather on bone covered in sticky sauce. Burgers cooked to a dry hockey puck (sadly they stopped doing fresh burgers and now use commercial patties, and tend to cook them beyond well done). Rolls so dry and hard you couldn't break them open. Sure, you might get lucky. I've had good meals with no problems at this Claim Jumper. But it's a gamble.

Great place for happy hour - they have great deals on some of their popular appetizers. They make their Vodka Collins with crushed ice...refreshing twist on the classic. They are popular during sports games...so get there early to get a seat!

It was my first visit ever to a Claim Jumper restaurant as my family and I were strolling through the high-end shops of South Coast Plaza. I was impressed with the interior (think country feel with sophisticated city restaurant) and also the choices on their menu. I ordered the whiskey apple glazed pork loin, and my family ordered a salad, soup, and some calamari. For the most part, all were delicious choices and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and quick, especially since we went there during lunch hour. However, if you are on a strict, low-calorie diet, this may not be the place for you. Why? Because they have HUGE portions of food (akin to portions served at the Cheesecake Factory). My family and I could barely finish our food. And if you go to their Web site to check the nutritional content...well, do that AFTER you eat. Otherwise, you will be shocked (and probably want to call health and safety) with the amount of calories and sodium that go into the food here. I also looked at the dessert display, and that's quite huge too. In fact, it's possible to split most of the dishes with 2 to 3 people to spread the calories around. That also explains why the seats, booths, and tables are big (no offense, but I think they're made for really fat people!). But at least they have something healthy you can grab next to the root beer barrel candy on your way out -- a small apple! It's not an artistic display; it turns out you can actually eat those apples! So, if you are looking for good American food with large portions and decent prices in the OC, go to Claim Jumper. If you are watching the amount of food you eat, bring a friend or two that's willing to share your meal. Either way, the food's pretty good and you get what you pay for. :)

I'm a HUGE fan of good old hearty American food. From steamed vegetables to steak to mashed potatoes to ribs, I love it all. So when I'm at Claim Jumper, I am pretty much in my version of heaven. My favorite dish is the pot roast but the other night, I tried their Asian pear salad with the tortilla chicken soup and they were both quite flavorful. I never thought I'd be impressed by the salads at Claim Jumper but I was pleasantly surprised. But I always recommend the pot roast (it comes with mashed potatoes, steamed yams, onions, potato wedges, and a biscuit) because it never disappoints. The best part are the leftovers you always have because each dish could feed a family of four.

Waited over 10 minutes for a server to greet us after being seated. Then watched the server greet people just coming in. My fiance and I just got up and left.

The Claim Jumper at South Coast Plaza is by far one of the best yet. Our visit on the 21st was pleasant and enjoyable. The service was great, we had a party of 8 people (family gathering) and the food still came out in a timely manner. The appetizers were well ahead of the entrees which was a plus, normally at some restaurants with large parties, the food is off schedule. I loooooved their nacho platter, and the jambalaya actually looked decent - surprising for a miner's-themed restaurant.

I called in today to order their "hearts of romaine" salad....they told me they don't have that anymore and i was super sad. I called back and begged them to make me one. So after asking her manager, they decided to make it for me!! This salad is SOOO good! What makes it good is of course their basalmic vinegarette, but make sure to ask for extra dressing on the side and also ask them NOT to put it on the salad at all if you plan to take it to go because the salad will get all mushy by the time you get home. The reason you should ask for the extra dressing is because sometimes there's waaay too much oil so what i do is scoop out the oil with a spoon and combine the 2 sides of dressing. The first time i ordered this salad, they only gave me one dressing and the small container that they gave me was 80% oil. I also ordered their chicken strips and OMG....they were SOO big and juicy!! The bbq sauce that they gave me was really good too! The only thing about Claim Jumper is that the portions are so huge that i can only eat 1/3 of what i order and considering the price, it would only be worth it if someone else shared it with me. Good service and Great food, price is okay though.

**GLUTEN-FREE FRIENDLY -- NEEDS IMPROVEMENT** I used to like claimjumper a lot. Then I was told by my doctor to go gluten-free. It makes eating out a challenge. I had read that claimjumper has a GF menu. We had lunch there one day. Our server was really nice but not a huge amount of GF/veg items on the menu. So I had a salad (minus the chicken) and my husband had the loaded baked potato. It said it came with alfredo sauce but when we asked our server (he said it came with salsa - the alfredo was for the regular menu)?? Confused...since the GF menu said the alfredo came with the potato on the GF menu. Makes me nervous eating there if they can't even get the menu straight. Lunch was ok - decent atmosphere. No appetizers or desserts that are GF. Oh well.

very good customer service and plenty of parking the beef back ribs is humongous but really tasty... the fries are little salty maybe because of the spices used... the bowtie pasta is just perfect

Instead of dining at Claim Jumper for their ogre sized portions. Try their happy hour. Much better then the actual restaurant. There's a great selection of appetizers for a great value. Only downfall is getting seated together when it's busy. I've been a few times and haven't really had a problem though. The ambience is lively and the service is awesome. For you sports lovers out there, they have tons of tvs around so you can watch games while you pig out and get trashed. We ordered the sliders (mini burgers) that came with fries that tasted like they had been fried with "clean" oil (I like to think this to make myself feel better even though I'm sure they weren't). We also got a caesar salad (had the perfect amount of dressing tossed. Had to add some veggies in the mix right?), spicy buffalo wings (MmmMMm good), Wild artichoke with tomatoes and spices, and the steak nachos with sour cream and guacamole (yes!). To end the feast we split a giant red velvet cupcake with frosting, carmel, and chocolate sauce. Our bill came out to about $30 for the 3 of us including drinks. I left really satisfied!

I think this place is not getting a fair treatment from people. I actually enjoyed this place. First off, this place is really big, probably one of the biggest Claim Jumpers that I've seen. Unlike other Claim Jumpers that I've been to, this had one main seating area instead of two sections. Our waitress was a little late here and there, but for good reason since our seats were the farthest from the kitchen. I ordered the Tri-Tip Steak, which was great. This probably is one of the rare times in which I ordered a medium-rare steak, and it was actually medium rare! What a shock! Vy ordered the meatloaf sandwich and fries, which by the way did not resemble a sandwich whatsoever. Very crispy fries, just the way I like it. Oh yeah, the portions are huge. Because this restaurant is located at South Coast Plaza Mall, which is like the luxury mall down here, the customers that serve will probably be bratty, spoiled, want everything there way, and very hard to please. Trust me folks, this is just like any other Claim Jumpers. Good food, huge portions, big tables, huge portions, okay drinks, and huge portions. p.s. If anyone has ever had an appetizer, a main course, and dessert all in one sitting here, you are amazing!

This location is convenient right inside South Coast Plaza. I stopped by with a friend for happy hour. So the review is for the Saloon. Our service was great plus it helps that their HH menu is very reasonable. The bartenders are always very attentive.

This was probably the worst meal/experience I have had at CJ, so I will give it the benefit of the doubt, and give em 3 stars for this latest experience. In past experience, they probly get a higher rating. They did fix the main problem of the ribs coming out really COLD and brought out some piping hot ribs that were excellent, but its just annoying in general, for 26 bucks--they are gonna try to pass off cold ribs.....nice...whoever served it or the chef's had ta know it had just been stitting there for a LONG time. (my server did not serve the ribs, wasn't her fault). The club sandwich wasn't anything great either. Server was sweet, --but very busy apparently. CJ's also removed the spare ribs from their menu, which were excellent.

Came here for prom because Maggiano's was booked. We weren't really expecting much from an "American chain restaurant" but it definitely beat our low expectations in term of service and the atmosphere. I had a large group (20+ people) and even though I reserved a week ahead of time and asked to be seated close together, the restaurant was scrambling at the last minute to find empty tables for us. The manager showed us two seats away from each other and told us that if we wanted to all sit together, we would have to wait more. Since we had a limo to catch, we agreed to split up. It's not a big deal (I understand that they were really busy--there were other prom groups there as well), but we did call ahead of time so that we wouldn't have to deal with that problem. Anyways, the waiter was super nice and she even gave each person in my group separate checks. The food was good too. Overall, I recommend this restaurant

Came to CJ for my first happy hour with them and was very impressed by the selection of food & drinks and the prices. Was attending a night out with several girl friends and we were all over the half price appetizers and drinks. I got 2 appetizers and 2 drinks and my tab came to less than $20 (not including tip). Not bad! We sat outside on the patio, but I've eaten inside at this location in the past. We came on a weeknight, so there was no wait at all to be seated.

Food and service are good but a bit pricey. The BBQ chicken and ribs are wonderful here. This is a good place to eat large portions of American food on your business expense account.

The portions here are HUGE!!! You will never leave hungry. Everything tastes so good unlike other restaurants that want to do too much and everything ends up tasting kinda sad. The chicken tortilla soups has a little kick to it and get this, it actually has chunks of chicken in it! The salads are huge, you are gonna want to share it with someone but they have a half order if you don't have someone to share it with. There is a lot to choose from and I have been happy with everything I have ordered. If you have room for desert then I highly recommend the red velvet cupcake. It comes with a side of hot, semi-sweet chocolate. Way better than the cupcakes at Sprinkles. The price is well worth the portions.

Their tri-tip roast is excellent...very well seasoned. Even though it was supposedly medium rare, it came out more medium with no red. Another complaint was that they serve their Guinness a little too cold for my taste. Service was fast.

  • Hoa Q.

The food isn't anything special and the prices per plate are a little expensive, but the portions are large enough for two people to share and be full. If you order thin onion rings, be prepared to eat mostly batter. The menu is similar to Sizzler or Denny's. The atmosphere is like Cheesecake Factory, though.

this is by far the nicest claim jumper i have ever been to. the service was good, the ambiance was good, the food was typical claim jumper... plentiful and good. if this place wasn't so far, or if there weren't 5 claim jumpers that were closer, i would come here more often.

I visited this restaurant located at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA on 11-4-09 during happy hour. I sat down at one of the side tables against the wall inside the bar area. I ordered a glass of Hogue Fume Blanc. I noticed the waitress wrote it down. About 20 minutes later I noticed my glass of wine had not been served and I noticed the waitress waiting for it because I could see the lady bartender and she was only taking care of the customers sitting at the bar. She was slower than a snail. Then the waitress brought me a glass or red wine. I told the waitress that Fume Blanc was a white wine. I was confused as to why this was a problem since the waitress wrote my order down. I noticed the bar was not full/busy but this was obviously a problem now. The waitress came back to serve me a glass of water and I asked if there was a problem. She stated the bartender was new. Then, the waitress disappeared for another 10 minutes. When she reappeared I asked what happened to my glass of Fume Blanc. She said she didn't know if they had anymore of it and someone else was checking. I immediately changed my order and asked for a different kind of white wine. This took another 10 to 13 minutes from the time I ordered. I'm appalled with how much I had to wait when it was clearly not a difficult task to get a simple glass of wine. This appeared not have been handled properly because I never heard an apology from the waitress or the bartender. I should have asked to speak to the manager on duty but I thought I would just see if it was an isolated incident.

This review is based off the two times I've been here and both were for happy hour. They have some pretty good happy hour appetizer specials. Staff was REALLLY friendly and attentive both times we stopped in. I'd go back for happy hour any time!

a few months ago, my husband took me on my maiden voyage to the south coast plaza. we were a little hungry and decided to go to claim jumper since i'd never been to one. sat at one of the high round tables by the bar and ordered their appetizer sampler and also shared a cup of french onion soup. i think i had a mojito which wasn't very tasty... i think my husband just got a beer. the platter was humongous... lots of fried goodness... but we couldn't even finish half the stuff so after a while it all just tasted the same... fried... our waitress was pretty nice...

my wife and i have only been to CJ 2 other times over the last 10yrs and both times we were not impressed one bit. we were shopping at south coast plaza on sunday and decided to give this place one more shot. afterall, it had been 6yrs or more since our last visit. i must say, the food was verry good and very reasonable in terms of price. its not "fancy" but just good food. i had the chicken dinner and it was good. ana had the veggie sandwich. the servings were good size and the service was good. the roasted veggies were good. the bbq sauce for the chicken was ok. the taco apps were really good and tasted very authentic ((like tacos from cabo)). i must say, afterall all these years, CJ will go back on our list when we want a place with a large menu to select from and dont want to mess around with some pretentious place.

I have been to more than Claim Jumper than I care, the food is the same, giant portions that we can't finish. But this one, I am shocked that the servers know customer service more than their manager. The last time I was here with my kids and BFF and her kids, the hamburgers the kids ordered were still kinda raw. Our server did bring them back to be cooked again. Then later on that night, my daughter and BFF's daughter got sick. They both had the burger. So a couple days later, I called and actually went in myself to speak to the manager. (I was on my way to Old Navy across the street anyways) He disregarded the problem lightly, and just asked for my phone number nonchalantly, and wrote it down on a piece of used paper napkin he tore. It is quite obvious that this manager is not taking this seriously since these two kids are not HIS kids. All I wanted him to do is to check the meat, no other kids deserved to be food poisoned. Plus an apology would be nice too.It breaks any mom's heart to see their own kids cry when ill. Now every single time we walked by Claim Jumper while in South Coast Plaza, my daughter reminds me of this unfortunate incident. BTW, my phone number was probably tossed in with the leftover food, they never called me.

So, I don't understand the relatively recent closings of Claim Jumpers in around Orange County but I'm glad that this one is still open. My boyfriend and I had dinner here the other night and I was reminded of why I'd been craving it from so long. Although the dish I had anticipating on ordering before arriving to the restaurant was no longer on the menu, I ordered an equally delicious dish. I got the 1/2 rack of pork ribs with a side of roasted vegetables and the tastiest sweet potato ever- topped with a savory honey, butter sauce. My boyfriend got the vegetarian stuffed baked potato. I like the atmosphere too and the service is pretty good.

Came here right before we headed back to sf. The menu is pretty big and the portions are huge , we ended up taking 3 big boxes for the road. I had the chicken pot pie which is one of their signature dishes and it was delicious. Of course it was a milliion calories but i didn't care because I was on vacation :) The waiters were nice and we sat in a nice big booth. The wait wasn't long either for the South Coast Plaza Mall. It was the weekend before Christmas and not too crowded so that was nice.

Been coming here for the last 4 years and I love the people! I don't like the food as much since the regime change but Janessa, Jaime, Carly, Phil and Sid are enough to keep you coming back. They are some of the best bartenders I have ever had! Janessa makes this really great drink called a Trash Can and Slow death in the Afternoon, order them next time you go and you won't need another drink! Happy hour is great but make sure to get there early otherwise you aren't going to find a seat.

This was the new place to go since the one in Irvine closed down. I've been here many times and I've always gotten good service. Tonight though was the worst service I've experienced in a long time. Here's what happened: We were greeted and then we ordered our food. The server seemed nice enough. My boyfriend ordered the clam chowder in a sourdough loaf, I ordered the grilled chicken pasta and my friend ordered a salad. As soon as we got our food is when the service went downhill. Our server dropped off our food and then never came near us again. My boyfriend's food and my friends food was missing their garlic bread but since the server never came around we weren't able to ask him about it. Instead we got to watch him be more attentive to the other guests in his section. He finally came over to us to ask my boyfriend if he wanted a refill and before we could ask about the garlic bread he just walked away. We were pretty much done by this point. When he came back thats when my boyfriend was able to ask about the garlic bread and he seemed oblivious, his response: "oh it didn't come out, it should have came out." He would've known if he would've just checked up on us. He was the one who dropped us our food to us. Then we got our check and put a credit card in, and again the guy disappeared... worst service ever. To our server : Okay I get it, I'm a server as well. 3 young looking people who are Asian, you automatically think to yourself, great no tip. But honestly treat everyone equally because sometimes you will get people like my boyfriend and I and when we get good service, we usually tip at least 20-25%.

I have always been a fan of CJ's and was very disappointed when they closed down their Torrance location. I love the Costa Mesa CJ because of the friendly staff and fast service. I always come here when I'm in the area. If you ever want a good place for Happy Hour, Lunch or Dinner, this is defintely a good place to go, especially since you get what you pay for which is a very good foodand plenty of it!

This a review from a heart broken once loyal customer. I've been going to this claim jumper ever since it opened many years ago since it was basically connected to South Coast Plaza which I went to rather often before. I remember before how the service was reasonable despite packed dinner times and how their food quality was always there. Unfortunately after my most recent visit 2 days ago, I have to say that ALL of that has gone out the window. I know times are tough and of course food quantities can't always stay the same, but what about the quality? Shouldn't that be a restaurants 1# goal? I ordered my usual appetizers of Mozzarella sticks, Pretzel Sticks with cheese sauce (Was once just a pretzel), Loaded Potato Skins and then took a moment to glance at the new menu. All my prior experiences here, led me to believe that some of the old menu items were now part of their "off menu items" just like their chicken and biscuits. Unfortunately for me their jambalaya didn't make it there. So I proceeded to order their chicken parmesan and didn't think too much about all the changes. Then as my appetizers were set on the table, I was rather shocked by the changes/quality the mozzarella sticks and loaded potato skins presented to me. As I mentioned before, I completely understand that times are hard for everyone and that quantities can't stay the same but it wasn't that long ago when my mozzarella sticks were at least 1 inch thick and relatively evenly cut, not these weird looking crooked and unevenly cut mozzarella sticks and for uneven I mean one end is double the size of the other end. As for the loaded potato skins, They changed the sour cream holder from another skin, to an actual ceramic holder which wasn't the problem. The problem was how they were completely charred on both sides with not even one spared. I continue my meal trying not to make too much of a fuss out of it, and my entree comes out shortly after (probably too shortly). Looks great, with nothing wrong with it initially and I proceed to just scarf it down and go on my way. Remember when I mentioned it came out shortly after my appetizers? Unfortunately for me part of the chicken inside wasn't cooked properly (Still rather pink inside the middle) which I didn't notice until one of other party members pointed out. At this point I'm done, heart broken, upset, and after 2 days of recovering from food poisoning. I regretfully say this, but I'm never going to this claim jumper again. It's been an enjoyable experience up until now, but sorry you just don't cut it anymore.

This review is solely on their Happy Hour. I enjoy coming here for their all-day happy hours on Wednesdays. Although the happy hour specials are consistent throughout the week, Wednesdays there is no rush to make it on time as it runs all night. Only con is that it can get busy and you may have to wait for seat at the bar or private table in the bar area. Drink and food specials are great. Food portions are generous and tasteful. Solid place for happy hour. My favorite happy hour drink is their raspberry martini. *Cheers*

1.19.09: It is 2009! Claim Jumpers, yeah it's a chain restaurant and from what I remembered loved this place. But as they say different location sometimes has different cooking styles. One big plus for this place is their portions. Its just incredibly huge. Their crab cakes was mediocre however. It was late and the service was alright, I think they were getting ready to go home already. I would say this place is more of a 3.5. Not too shabby. I think I might go to the one in Monrovia/Arcadia area to test their cooking skills again. Off I go..
